I tried these and can’t believe how much I love them. Most clear sounding flats I’ve played. Stayed up late in awe of how good they feel to play. The tension is phenomenal, not stiff at all but still can bring the thump. Because of the clarity and playability they are the most versatile flats and cover any tones on songs that I want to cop. TIs now are my second favorite as they are still amazing but modern/mid forward sounding with a much looser feel on the E string.
For those complaining about the price, these are the only flats you’ll need to buy for a year at least. Just make sure you wind them properly as mentioned in this video.

Shout out to "Mr. Music" Roland Belisle and his incredible wife Irene who taught me how to string my first bass back when I was 12 or so. Irene was huge in the regional scene playing double bass and she told me to always lock the string in with a wind over the string path and then stacking winds under, so any tension put on the string clamps down on the excess. I've used it almost exclusively ever since and I've rarely ever had issues with slippage.

they really do sound fantastic on that bass. i'd love to hear what they sound like in 6 months or just fully broken in. got a feeling it will sound even better. 😁

Of course they do. Just in a different way. Flats reach their peak sound often only after years

I've had them on my Gibson T-Bird for 2 years now. And, yes, they do sound great when broken in. I use Dogal bass - and guitar strings - a lot...

On the strength of this review I ordered these strings. They are really pretty great. As a life-long TI Jazz Flats player these new strings give a somewhat better feel. The looser tension is nice under the hands. I never change flats so now need another new bass as these are staying on the model I strung them on.

Had a chance to meet guys from Dogal at Musicmesse few years ago, they gave me special proce for few different string types and I can say, as experienced player, that those were fantastic and probably best balanced strings that I ever used. Only downgrade is really high price.

Are they more "old school" like labella/pyramids or more "mids range" like the ernie ball cobalt/thomastik? The absence of gaps between the wire makes feel that they will sound old school. It is hard to tell with a pbass.

Ok but how much better are the compared to say D'Addario chromes? Are most even good players going to see, hear or feel a difference equal to the price difference between them and a run of the mill set?
In other words do I get that tangible value added by paying more?
Again I have no issue with paying top dollar if you get top dollar, but.....

  • @MrDaneBrammage

That sounds great, but everything that guy plays sounds great. It would be useful to hear a comparison to another string.

Very cool sounding strings. BUT how would they sound on a basic P or J bass? I mean, the demo was on an old school spec'd P-style bass. But I suspect that's a very high quality, custom shop instrument. How would those strings sound on a mid-range priced bass right off the rack? And let's face it, is there any bass that René can't make sound amazing?

Can they be strung through the body?
Some brands of flats can't be used in a string through body bass.

Die Saiten sind so glatt, dass sie oben aus den Mechaniken rutschen können. Ich empfehle die Saiten beim Aufziehen über sich selbst zu wickeln

Uhhh 59€ ☠️too much for the money at crisis times, and btw I dont really hear in the video if they really sound much better. If you made any comparision with any other strings I could maybe believe how good they want to be. But the risk is there how do they sound really better or not. So maybe yes , maybe not? I would recommend to invest more of your spare money to a Bass teacher 🤣🤣🤣to improve your sound..... 🥰

All you need to do, and you should already be doing this, is take a pair of smooth jaw pliers and bend a 90° angle where you intend the string to go into the tuner. Not only will they not slip bending the string will lock the winding to the core. Try it.
