Get the impression that these two got on fairly well. Interestingly, both of them seemed to dislike Sampras quite a bit and were both involved in public fall outs with him.
Sampras and Rafter both said things about each other that weren’t great. They did patch things up though. Agassi and Sampras never got along and are polar opposites in terms of temperament and personality. Sampras has always been kind of a “stick in the mud” while Agassi has always been a pre-madonna and very dramatic. They tolerate each other now but probably aren’t friends.
Yeah Agassi was very complimentary of him in his book. Said he is a great guy.

When Andre’s book came out he revealed all his negative feelings about Pete. That was news to almost all of us, Pete included, because they’d never spoken I’ll of each other before that. After Pete knocked Andre out of the ‘01 USO Andre said he was rooting for him to win it all.

Rafter beat Federer in the previous round.
Rafter was one player that Federer never managed to beat. I think they played 3~4 times, which were all won by Rafter.
Only guy to have ever player Federer at least three time and won all their matches. And even he says Federer is the best he ever played against.

What in the hell did the folks at Nike dream up for Agassi to wear as a shirt that season?! It looks like they took a terrycloth bathrobe from someone's father's closet circa 1964 and made it into a shirt that could possibly have been worn on a tennis court - but why?

In wimbledon 2001, rafter defeated his toughest rival (agassi) only to be beaten in final for a weaker rival (ivanisevic). I liked rafter, but his will to win (mindset) wasnt his strong point.
