I actually had no idea that the shells were to help with humidity! I was so worried that they weren’t getting enough humidity even though I spray the tank consistently, thanks for making this video, it was very informative!
Hermits, Hounds, and Horses I have a question I’ve been getting a lot of nats in my enclosure is this going to hurt my hermit crab and what can I do to prevent this?
How did this comment get likes, it's basically saying I'm an ignorant idiot who killed a bunch of crabs becuse I like pretty shells and only care about what makes me happy. American? Lol, but having that user name they get a pass, cos it's so ironicly funny.
Lots of helpful information, thank you! It's not easy finding larger turbo shells with opening measurements given. I ordered some this week and had to take a guess as to which sizes to get. Hope my crabs like them!
Thank you I was looking for information on how to get my hermit crabs their first new shells, I got 3 for Christmas and I have a10 gallon tank so I add m trying to furnish it for my babies [ speedy, queasy, and punchy] so thank you
Thank you for this video it was soo helpful I’ve owned hermit crabs for years my first one I had for two years but I now have 3 girls and a boy and my male hermit crab unfortunately came in a painted shell Wich I hate but I have all natural shells in there he just will not chnage even though they are face up on the ground
I have two purple pinchers that I got about a week ago. I should be getting a bunch of extra shells tommorow. Rn one is in the exact babylonia shell she showed and the other is in what I believe to be a striped turbo shell
Thanks so much for the informative video but if one of my hermit crabs is potentially molting do I NEED to seperate the rest from him, great job on the video by the way. 🦀🤍🐚
I just bought a new hermit crab that is in a shell with the long pointy (to the side) part. Do you find if they are in that type, the prefer to stay with that type or not? Should I get a mix of both and see what it continues to like?
the shells with the stick coming off of them can be dangerous because it makes it harder for them to burrow and they can get hung up on stuff in their tank, he might just like the shape so what I'd do is just get a few of those and break off the part that sticks out😉
Hey! This is off topic of the shells and stuff but do you think you can make a video about gnats and fruit flies and stuff in hermit crab tanks? If you don’t know much about them that’s ok I understand also I don’t wanna force you or anything but if you have any information you wanna share to this comment I highly appreciate it! Thanks!
My crab just died yesterday as she was naked and wasnt doing good from the start. i had her for 6 months wthout her changing! she finally decided to get out of that shell which was way to small for her. she was naked for aboy 20 hours. then died sadly.
Hey Hermits Hounds and Horse's! My Hermit crab Digs Alot he isn't molting because he comes up every night (For got to say He covers himself when he digs..) I got him less then a week ago But I do have a idea because the place I got him Dint have alot of sand (the hermits were big) They had like 1-2 inches of sand so at 1st I Thought he was molting I dint have much sand so I went and got play sand. (I know now I should of waited for him to come out) i dont know if this is any good info but I have 3 big hermits and one small one And I have a Big tank (idk the size we got it on the side of the road okay) I'm planning on making 2 stories! I'm kinda late but great video I hope you can answer my question

Yes, it is amazing all the ways that a hermit crab can use its shell!
Hermits, Hounds, and Horses I have a question I’ve been getting a lot of nats in my enclosure is this going to hurt my hermit crab and what can I do to prevent this?
I no longer have hermit crabs but this video helped me to realize I didn’t do enough research on shells before buying the crabs

To anyone is needing shells and for cheap there are lots of shells at dollar stores
Good tip!
Thanks for the great and helpful video! I love your new intro by the way.👍
Thanks so much!
I love your videos so much I am looking forward to getting my own hermit crabs!
I HAVE A QUESTION PLEASE ANCWER so I have a shell that is pointy all over and I don’t know if that’s ok so please help
As long as it isn't pointy on the inside, it should be fine.
Ok tysm and is there anyway so that I can prevent nats or fruit flys?
Can you keep different species together?
Your so helpful thank you for posting
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Have you ever had hermit crabs mate?
You didn't leave a link
I’m glad I got a hermit crab
My hermits are captive bred

No, if you are meeting all of their nutritional needs and the substrate is deep enough, you will be fine.
Okay thanks, but what is the minimum amount of sand I can have if my hermit crabs are 1 inch each?
3-4 times deeper than their shell.

I find that they usually prefer the lightest, least pointy shells if given the opportunity.

where do you get your crabs
1 from Petco, 4 from Pet Supplies Plus, 2 rescues.
Our crabs love African turbo shells, they are always fighting over them
Where I can get hermit crab??

Eventually I would like to, although it will take quite a bit of research on my part.

He 1. either loves digging (as most crabs naturally do) or 2. is getting ready to molt.
my purple pincher loves D shaped shells, wont wear anything ekse
Why would my sons hermit crab change shells and go right back into his old one?
It decided that the new shell was not as good a fit as the old one.
My crab fell and her shell cracked. Any tips?
Hopefully she will change shells soon, if not it must not be bothering her.
@@hermitshoundsandhorses9971 Ok Thank You!
