At this point, it is accepted by pretty much everyone involved that no matter how much tape is watched, data is analyzed, and college coaches are consulted; the NFL Draft will NEVER become a perfect science. Especially not when Mel Kiper is picking!
We’ll admit, the ESPN NFL draft “expert” does get some of his predictions right... but we’re not interested in the GOOD Mel Kiper here...
We want the bad stuff!
So here it is: Every NFL team’s draft pick that Mel Kiper was horribly wrong about.

32 Front Offices all passed on Brady 5 times in a row for him to be taken in the 6th round. So it’s not exactly like Mel was the only one that couldn’t see anything special there.
Also; his draft analysis is spot on. Everything he said was correct and has been Brady’s entire career.
And don’t forget that if Bledsoe doesn’t get injured... you might not even know his name to begin with.
And if Brady was drafted by anybody else other than a team coached by Belichick... you might not know his name either.

Saw a Michigan game were Brady came in, in the second half and he brought them back to win by 7 and said dam I wish he would play for these scrubbs we have at qb in Philly. Def thought he would be an NFL starter. Not a goat tho dam.
The Allen comments are completely unfair. It’s also ridiculous to either crown Daniel Jones or bash Haskins after a single season (not even a full season for Haskins).
Allen could end up great, and it’s still a little early to say he’s going to stick around (I like what I see, I’m just saying it’s still a little early). And Jones/Haskins could both completely bust or become the next Manning/Brady rivalry. Nobody knows. Way, way too early to be making those kinds of statements. This guy basically Mel Keipered himself.
Trey Gregory still tho i can understand why josh Allen would’ve seemed the best Qb prospect, especially considering he’s been the second best so far. Also the accuracy criticism on Lamar is fair

Lmao spoke too soon
He said that Darius Leonard was one of the worst picks in the draft two years ago 😂
Yea he says dumb things like that all the time. This is part of the reason why I miss former presenter Mike Cantalupo, because he knows what he’s talking about, and he didn’t pronounce words and names wrong just for sake of getting us talking. That, and he wasn’t boring as 💩
Good thing Chris Ballard didn't listen to that idiot and brought The Maniac to Indy
To be fair, everyone said that.
Leonard sucks though
@@dmoney21 oh ok, your one of them huh, well this reply will be the only one you get from me because I dont feed the trolls. But I think his accolades and accomplishments in his first 2 years in the league will say he not only does not suck, but also one of the best in the league
To be fair literally everybody was wrong about Brady. He was a last round pick, nobody ever expected that from him.
Except for himself. He believed in himself and being the underdog always drove him to work harder than everyone else.
6th round
That’s so true, it’s wild how wrong the scouts can be about evaluating talent and that’s their whole job. Like Darius Leonard was called the worst pick of the whole draft, only to win defensive rookie of the year and then continue to have success. And josh Rosen said there were 9 mistakes in front of him and so many good players were taken before and after him. It’s so crazy how Josh Rosen gets taken 10th overall, Brady got taken like 6th round I think, and Kurt Warner worked at a grocery store before becoming one of the best QBs ever.
Cant win em all and he reads the scouting reports just like gms do. He relies on what they say and of course they want some misdirection out there. So that’s his cost for being the face of drafts
Yeah I’m sick of hearing people missed on Brady, the patriots missed on him 5 times before they finally hit on him in that draft alone. Brady wasn’t a miss, he’s an outlier and pretty much never happens ever.
Literally 25+ teams out there are wishing they had Josh Allen now 😂 Mel Kiper was right about him bro
I’m here in 2024 and was going nuts about how Josh Allen at #1 was horribly wrong but then i saw this video was 4 years ago😂
Lamars accuracy was bad. Lamar even admitted that he worked really hard in the 2019 offseason and made it better. Kiper was right about that, so many problems with this list 😣
Exactly, that's why everyone lost their shit in week 1 when Jackson came out throwing bombs.

In Mel's Defense, I think he is better than average at Predicting Prospect, which is quite a compliment! You can call out any individual on their Draft Projections, and you will see everyone sucks. Projecting Draft Prospects is Gambling just like wagering on the games! To paraphrase Kenny Rogers, "Win some, lose some, best a Gambler can hope for is to Die in his sleep".

Anything on the 2018 and 2019 draft class is waaaay too early. Who knows how that draft class will shape out over the next few years. Lamar could regress. Allen could be MVP. Haskins could be a GOAT. All 3 are talented in their own respects. All 3 still have to work on their game. This is wayyyyy too early. Silly list is silly.
I was thinking the same thing, completely ridiculous to list those guys.
The fact is....absolutely NOBODY knows. Not anyone. No GM has ever always knew for sure.
Anyone noticed Mel kipers obsession with Notre Dame quarterbacks?
It feels like TPS doesn’t know a lot about sports I general, even in this video they talk like Josh Allen is a bust, or that Dak Prescott was widely excepted as a top 5 qb going into the draft?
Yeah, I thought Allen was overrated but have no problem saying I was wrong.
I was screaming at my TV when the Dolphins didn't trade up to draft Lamar as he fell down the board. I basically saw him as similar to Allen, but with less arm strength and far superior running ability. So I'm not always wrong.
They should have left it at the inconsistency in his analysis between him and Jackson. That is more damning than anything we can evaluate in hindsight.

The Allen take aged like milk. Mel nailed that one!
Here after Tebow signed as a tight end for the jags.
In David Carr’s defense, the Texans drafted him - and didn’t bother to give him an offensive line. He spent most of his career in Houston picking himself off the turf.

Ironically, David Carr has more Super Bowl rings than the Texans franchise.
Facts! How could he throw the ball when he was running for his life every snap?
So true....
David got his ring so suck it texans
I love how y'all leave out the fact David Carr was drafted into the worst situation possible going to an expansion and getting sacked 100 times per season with no line protecting him.
It killed me to see him get thrashed every week, they should of sat him for a year or 2, I'm a BILLS fan, but I liked Carr, cuz he's from my hometown, he was thrown to the wolves, doesn't he still hold a record for being sacked the most in a season, and since 2002? Set up for failure!
Carr could have been a way better QB if he was put in a better situation
Hang on...are you using legitimate stats? Stats are for losers. In all honesty, you are 100% correct sir. Even after they finally got something resembling an offensive line, Carr was so damaged that he couldn't possibly perform to the potential he had.
