In my first year as a Ham, I'm surprised at how many of these activities I already did. The most ambitious was buying a new transceiver (Leixen VV-898E) and then after using it awhile, I wrote up a comprehensive review on Amazon, including pics of my base, mobile and go-box using the same rig.

Great video , I thought about this after watching , and why not do something like POTA or SOTA , NOTA , Neighborhoods on the air. Get out and walk your neighborhood and see how many contacts using simplex only on a hand held radio with whatever antenna you want to use . See how many you can get. Its a good way to spread the word about Ham radio , being prepared , getting to know others who live in the area and KNOWING what your radio will do in an emergency . Lets face it , you must know what your radio Will Do ,. Just a thought , I am going to do this myself very soon . Thanks for the video KG5RKX

Nice job! And good to show side by side with some of those nay-saying posts we see about our hobby. You are a light on construction and experimenting. Here are a few: Make an antenna, Make.a stealth antenna, Make a loop antenna and try it indoors,, Measurre all your antennas with an inexpensive device, Design your QSL card - paper and digital versions, Go for DXCC, Sign up for contact record keeping sites, Write up an article for a ham magazine or newsletter, ... The mind boggles! So any. Optioning, so little time!!.... Cllean your basement, Appease the XYL Is there time for these? George W9ZSJ (Age 80)

I thought U was the only one that would sit around thinking of what to load up as a antenna. I used to live in a apartment on the second floor and had no way to put up a antenna. I ran a wire to the rain gutter down pipe and ran thru my manual tuner. Worked great got a lot of surprised hams when reporting my antenna as rain gutter. Kj4ZIW

Fo roger D thar. That's CB lingo. Not appropriate for Ham radio. Where is Milton, GA? I used to live in Jonesboro, GA and before that in McDonough, GA. After looking at all the comments I see that you never answer any of them so I'm wasting my time. Not every new Ham has an APRS radio or even have a digital radio.

You can build a radio telescope with a cheap sdr receiver. H line which is at 1420 mhz can easily be detected using a high gain antenna like a parabolic dish and a LNA

I am as of yet unsure if it will happen this year with COVID and all, and if it does, what it will look like, but I would submit to the list: Skywarn Recognition Day event during (usually) the first weekend in December. Another EMCOMM style special event held at National Weather Service offices across the country. The local office where I am has had the local HAMs come up and operate with the equipment at the office for periods over the duration of the event.

So, I'm watching this in October, 2020 and chuckling about some of the suggestions in a Pandemic World. However, many of these things which initially seem undoable (go to a hamfest, do Field Day) were done - that is the genius and flexibility of our hobby. Really a great list - thanks for the video!
