Me too I personally like this version better because of that. Wonkas father was still out there and Charlie helped him go see him and finally made amends. It touches my heart every time.
It's funnier when you remember an earlier scene showed that Wonka straight up has his logo on the bottom of his shoes. Charlie *knew* he was saying that to his face.
I love how Willy Wonka blows his cover when Charlie mentions his haircut. He's trying to keep a low profile and get information without Charlie knowing who he is, but the moment Charlie mentions the haircut, he totally blows his cover 😂
He got you there Mr wonka, you still do need to be careful with that elevator also did you hear they are making another movie about you sadly it’s the prequel to 1973 version of you but still we get more of your backstory and surprise we find out more about your mother who first inspired you
I find it interesting that this version of Willy Wonka feels very comfortable with admitting his own insecurities about his father when he’s around Charlie and finds strength to confront him with his help. Despite being young, it feels like Charlie is taking the role as an adult mediator and Wonka is essentially the child stuck in an adult body in therapy.
Well, Willy Wonka had to learn very early how to live without his father so yes, he's still has a child spirit. Charlie has a loving family but had to became an adult too quickly because of their situation. In fact, the two had their temper because of their family situation.
It's one thing that Wonka clearly only liked Charlie above the other 4 kids, but then Charlie took it a step further by helping Wonka's family problems. Charlie really was the ideal kid that Wonka could find. Wonka's respect for Charlie had to have multiplied after this
Yes I love this version the best of all. Wonka was searching for answers about his life and insecurities and he knew only Charlie would be the one to help him. And there was one last prize to be given, a second chance with his father, I think that’s truly amazing and heartwarming
There's the book. Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator. No movie so far but a full radio dramatisation.
