    I find it interesting that this version of Willy Wonka feels very comfortable with admitting his own insecurities about his father when he’s around Charlie and finds strength to confront him with his help.
    Despite being young, it feels like Charlie is taking the role as an adult mediator and Wonka is essentially the child stuck in an adult body in therapy.

    • @a.g.demada5263
      @a.g.demada5263 7 місяців тому +13

      Well, Willy Wonka had to learn very early how to live without his father so yes, he's still has a child spirit.
      Charlie has a loving family but had to became an adult too quickly because of their situation.
      In fact, the two had their temper because of their family situation.

      @@leahowlett5525 Just found the original script, which has some cut scenes/lines that appears a little in some videos. In the behind the scenes videos when Augustus is drinking from the chocolate river, Mr. Teavee says "Careful son, you're leaning too far out!" Or in a little tv promo, in the Inventing Room you see Veruca dumps Violet's hand in red liquid.
      From the script
      After Talking About The Gobstoppers.
      While Wonka pushes on, Violet looks back at her mother, who shoots a chastening glare. Veruca takes Violet by the hand offering reassurance.
      VERUCA: I think Mr. Wonka likes you.
      VIOLET: Really?
      VERUCA: No
      Veruca dunks Violet's hand in a pot of goo, then skips off.
      Ms. Beauegared leans down and WHISPERS to Violet;
      Ms. Beauegarde: Eyes on the prize, Violet. Eyes on the prize.
      Violet nods. Slapping herself, she puts her game face back on.
      Edit: there's another revised version of the script (just small parts) that has the clip of Mike mocking Veruca.
      VERUCA: Daddy! Daddy! I want an Oompa-Loompa. I want you to get me an Oompa-Loompa!
      MR. SALT: Now, now pet. We mustn't interrupt Mr. Wonka.
      VERUCA: But I want an Oompa-Loompa!
      MIKE(Mocking her accent): I want an Oompa-Loompa!
      Veruca glares at Mike, who is startled. That's one spooky little girl.

    I found it hilarious and, when I saw this movie, the theater went laughing about it - I find it hilarious how Willy insults himself in front of Charlie with terrible self-deprecating language and Charlie - obviously knowing who it is - agrees on everything…but Wonka only snaps when Charlie insults his hair.😂😂😂😂

    When you’re a kid growing up in the 2000s, adults would tell you how the Star Wars prequels were awful,
    That Spider-Man 3 sucked,
    Or that this version of Willy Wonka was an abomination.
    But as I become an adult, I discover the importance that your love of something isn’t validated by your age.
    It’s validated by how you feel, and feelings are timeless and and ageless.
    And I feel that that Johnny Depp’ take on Willy Wonka is more brilliant as time goes on,
    And aside from a couple weak spots, Tim Burton’s film may be one of the best and most original remakes ever made.

    I’ve heard it was actually Johnny Depp who suggested to Tim Burton that Freddie Highmore be Charlie in this movie because they worked together in “Finding Neverland” and Depp was impressed by Highmore’s performance!

    rewatching this movie, I noticed how bad Freddie Highmore's acting was. Granted, he was a child, but his child co-stars' acted better than him, who was a main character.

      Apparemment, la première scène où Willy Wonka se cogne contre l'ascenseur était un accident car Johnny Depp ne savait pas que la porte était fermée.
