  • LYRICS:
    Well here I go again
A thousand thoughts all running through my head
    Thinking what might have been
Should have held her close but I let her go instead
Out of my arms taking her charms out of my life forever
I'm wondering where she is right now
    Chasing those blues again
A thousand questions running through my mind
    Paying those dues again
Thought I'd found a love but I wake up now to find
She's out of my arms taken her charms out of my life forever
I'm wondering who she's with right now
I don't know when this golden dream began to fade away
I don't know where it all went wrong
Maybe she was always going to run away
Maybe she was nothing but a dream all along
    Feeling a fool right now
A thousand reasons why she'd never stay
    I made mistakes and how
I smothered her with love now she's gone and run away
Out of my arms she's taken her charms out of my life forever
I'm wondering what to do right now
I don't know when this golden dream began to fade away
I don't know where it all went wrong
Maybe she was always going to run away
Maybe she was nothing but a dream all along
    Don't want to dream again
A thousand dreams won't bring her back to me
    Never be the same again
I thought that she would stay but she's off and running free
Out of my arms all of her charms out of my life forever
I'm wondering why I'm here right now
I don't know when this golden dream began to fade away
I don't know where it all went wrong
Maybe she was always going to run away
Maybe she was nothing but a dream all along
My golden dream girl is fading away
My golden dream girl is fading away

I was surprised to find this song clocking in at 5 minutes when I did the video. Most songs I write are between 2 and 4 minutes long. I'm pleased with the response though. I'm grateful for every view and every comment. Thanks for your support, Hal! Much appreciated, my friend!

Robert, you have a great lyrical skill. I have listend to a number of your compositions and have enjoyed them very much. Have you ever had the change to record them officially or have any artists cover them?

    • @roberthaigh3206
      @roberthaigh3206  3 місяці тому

Thank you for the kind comment, Mike! In answer to your question: No, I have never officially recorded anything, and no-one has approached me to cover any of them either. That's OK - I'm just an amateur musician enjoying myself. I write poetry and the occasional short story, in addition to songs, and I did have several of my poems published in anthologies, back in the 1990's and early 2000's. I gave up submitting poems though, because the royalties are so small, and publishers expect you buy at least one copy of the book! Only once did a publisher send me a free copy of a book which contained one of my poems! So, now I just post poems on line (at the Poetrypoem site) for free, under my pseudonym of Silver Birch. I have turned a few of my poems into songs, but not very often. Enjoy the rest of your week!

Like many other people, I have loved and lost in the past, but this song is not written about anyone in particular. It is, after all, just a song - with artistic licence!

Very well written, Robert. Is this song about a personal event in your life, or is it an imagined tale? Either way, it is very touching. I look forward to more of your posts.

Thank you James! The song is indeed based on personal experience, but not really one particular person!

Great song. Looking at your profile I see you’ve written a lot of
    Songs I only started to
Write songs a few months ago so I’m interested - which do you have first, the words or tune? For
    Me it’s the words

    • @roberthaigh3206
      @roberthaigh3206  2 місяці тому +1

Thank you for the comment. In answer to your question: I usually start with the melody first, after finding an interesting chord progression, and then the lyrics come last. But I also write poetry, and I occasionally turn a poem into to a song, so in such cases obviously the words come first. There is no right or wrong way to write a song. We should do whatever feels natural to us when composing a song, I would say. Good luck with your own writing and recording!
