Thanks for your kind words my friend ... it´s pure Mojo food ... i loved compiling this video ... so much amazing works ... so much talented scale modellers out there😊👍 a big hug and a happy new year! ... cheers Markus
I have seen quite a few of these videos now (always appreciated, thank you UA-cam algorithm), and again, I'm appalled that even if the models look fine or even great, the composition of the dioramas are unfortunately way too often lacking, like 2:54: you have a tank and a base. And then two figures, one in an action pose and one standing pretty much at ease. That is just plain bad - chose one direction (calm or action) and stick with it. But even in action, you have to think about what has happened and get a direction: 4:09 is a great example of that, with the crews from two tanks evacuating. Here the tanks are more of a problem - had the Russian tank's gun pointed more towards the German tank, we could have gotten a better picture of what happened (two tanks facing off point blank and knocking each other out). That means that the tanks would have benefitted from fresh damage, and no, the ripped off and opened engine covers do not count - that only happens when a tank cooks off, and that has not happened here on either. Come on, you want to model and display tank engines, do so in a more controlled diorama, like a workshop. Also, way too often, a model is just a vignette and not quite a diorama, like the futuristic truck at 0:31. Absolutely nothing wrong with that, and some models actually benefit from not being part of an ongoing scene, like that truck. The same goes for say 0:42 where there are no figures, which is a shame - the base and model look good, what's wrong with adding a person? Heck, just someone picking mushrooms there would suffice. What I'm saying is that humans are needed for scale. That is emphasized by 0:44 with just that one figure, which makes that - a much simpler vignette - a lot better. On the other hand, when done right (like 0:19 with the kids playing on the wreck), a diorama can be quite fantastic, but making it so does take a little planning and creativity, more so than come in a model kit box.
Hi mate ... many thanks for your opinion and your thoughts on the Diorama topic. I think if you imagine how many aspects have to be taken into account in a diorama and how much can go wrong, you almost have an answer to your questions. In my opinion, the hobby of model building dioramas is primarily about having fun inventing scenes and creating scenarios. In German there is the saying "every type is different" which means... everyone has different requirements, priorities that they value and of course skills. Many of the dioramas shown can also serve as inspiration or a challenge for one of your own... so... get inspired and build your own dioramas the way you like them best... and above all... have fun with it 😊👍 happy modelling my friend, a big hug, cheers Markus
