For a long time I missed out on this game, as I only knew about the Xbox 360 release and I was a PS3 gamer at the time. I have played the PC version, and I enjoy it a plenty. 😎
This was the first game i got for Xbox 360 when it came out, I was in middle school and I loved it lol played it so much I got my brother and sister into it. I wouldn't mind a remaster and or follow up game, considering the ending.
I remember being very disappointed with this game when it came out. It was so bland and generic even more so than Doom 3. And when you compare it to other games that came out at the same time, Half-Life 2, FEAR, Farcry, It didnt really stand a chance. There is also zero design consistency with Quake 2 which is weird. All that said I love what Raven software used to be before they become a COD mill. They used to put out so many interesting and varied FPS's
If this dude doesn't get promoted way past Sergeant for his actions and becoming a freaking cyborg for the service I don't know what a corporal gotta do to get promoted.
Am I the only one who thinks the cutscene with stroggification is unique? Seriously, I've never seen before such a spectacular showing of how you are turned into a cyborg. This is a unique opportunity to see your transformation into a cyborg from the first person.
Thanks for uploading this high quality compilation of the game's cutscenes. I'm actually starting work on a fan trailer for this game. Would it be okay if I used your footage in it? I would credit you.
When it first came out, I was disappointed - mainly because it was soo different to what I knew as "Quake", but as I was playing it, I enjoyed it, marvelled at some of the story and the level desin as well as the enemies and the great gameplay- and slowly fell in love with it. Nowadays, I play it for the love of the game and the nostalgia. A gem that you can play over and over! Still looks great today. (oh yeah - Strauss is a cool guy!)
Games from this era are quite special. No woke political messaging. No predatory micro-transactions. No broken, buggy releases. No cringe "humor". Just fun games made by gamers, for gamers.

Stroggos is already pretty much dead in terms of ecosystem, with reckless toxic waste dumping and more. They probably are rather hardened against radiation because of the nanites working in their bodies. The nukes likely just destroy the surface, creating fallout and the underground likely survive and continue to spewing out more Strogg. Then the soldiers are forced to wear protective gear and all...
1. Nukes could be hard, expensive and/or risky to transport (remember that Strogg had quite good AA). Or even barely-to-not-existant as a result of nuclear non-proliferation programs on Earth (of course they could be restored then but it would require time). 2. Nukes aren't all-powerfull, in particular they would be useless for sufficiently deep underground facilities and could be less useful against Strogg structures in general. 3. Strogg could have (or humans could think Strogg had) similar weapons they didn't use (or didn't use much) because they wanted to capture a lot of humans alive as a resource, but could start using if they suspected major existential threat.

Yes, Quake 1 - is a campaign with 3 episodes FPS also contains Deathmatch. QUAKE 2 also has a Campaign and Deathmatch as well as a port to PS1 featuring Marine Bitterman. The Nintendo 64 Quake 2, like 4 is a different campaign taking place during the Strogg War as Marine Viper. Quake 4 takes place during the Strogg War that is happening in Quake 2.
Maybe the planet was simply too rich in natural resources to be wasted like that. Or simply because nukes wouldn't do much against the Strogg underground.
