Many thanks for posting this. I hadn't heard that tune for 43 years, but I'd had it in my mind all that time. What a shame there isn't any video of the stories. I have very vague memories of the little wood at the beginning of the titles. I hope that you manage to find the other records in your garage.
Amazing, my brothers gonna go nuts. We loved this and talked about it throughout the 70s 80s and 90s. it was the music I tell you, it enchanted us. We will talk again about enchantment lost. Fair ye well
I've got three of these records. I never saw the TV series afaik, but I've had the records as long as I can remember. Haven't been able to listen to them for a long time because I don't have a turntable any more.
It was wonderful to discover this little gem. I remember the series on RTE well as a child back in the early Seventies, I think it was. I would love to see the rest of the series if it were possible. Pure nostalgia!.

Aww - I had 'A Cure for Sean' - it was the first record I ever bought because I liked the cover in the shop. Still have it somewhere I think. Lovely melody.
I remember this haunting melody in the 1960s on TV at the end of the programme and there was a repeat again in the 1970s. It has remained with me ever since. Was it composed especially for the children's series along the lines of a traditional Irish air or is it actually an Irish folk tune I wonder? The music appears to resemble an old music box or even one of the voices of an electronic carillon. Any ideas as to the instrument itself?
Just discovered this youtube video. It's great to hear the melody again. I think I saw the tv series in the very early 1970s. However, the music here sounds slightly different in terms of instruments and harmony from what I remember... but I could be wrong!
I remember this series from 1969. The last time I listened to it before today was 22nd December 1969. Mixed emotions listening to it again.

I recognised the theme tune. As Glamagal20091 mentioned, I think I saw it on television in the UK in 1972.

I remember the series being shown on television in the UK. I'm sure it was 1972.
