I will add checking new arrivals to my routine, thank you!
And it's crazy to me that some record stores today still don't have a listening station. I understand a thrift store bc it's not their thing and the potential for abuse seems higher, but I still see some legit stores not have a playing section.

I agree with you there. A listening station is essential in any shop with employees working the counter

@@NTXVinyl I tell most new customers I'll play test anything they want to hear. I do not have a listening station for several reasons. Yes, the biggest record store in town has a listening station with 2-3 tables and headphones, but they have much more space, as well as a higher tolerance for loss due to yahoos that mishandle the vinyl and or equipment.

I love supporting my local stores in SA, TX but I’m not sure I’ll ever sell to them again. They tend to offer you no more than $1 for your records then sell them for $20. Seems pretty disingenuous to do that to customers.

When test playing, do you listen to the whole songs? How do you test play?

If you choose to visually inspect, do you ask to remove the record from the sleeve? Or just assume you can take it out? Thanks

If it's a pre-owned LP I see no issue with inspecting the record.

I'll pull the album out to inspect it for damage if they don't like me doing that I'll take my business elsewhere. In my opinion if they don't like that they are only out for your money and don't care about what they sell you!!
