An interesting mini series. I know how locks work, but never really seen them. I should go and watch locally myself, but never get around to it. One thing I definitely must see is the overland boat railway we have here in Ontario. I believe it’s one of the last working in the world.
Just watching this now. At about the 2:00 mark, you note the red markers should be to port. Here in the States, we memorize "Red. Right, Returning" which would put the red markers to starboard. Am I correct to assume the two countries flip this navigation rule?
It's run by Exeter City Council. You have to book it in advance as they try and get a group of boats through at once. You'll see at the beginning that it wasn't just us in the lock.
btw, I saw that you also make videos for Motor Boat & Yachting, and while looking around I found a few videos in which John Boyle takes some amazing looking trips on his motor boat. I binge-watched all of his trips and thought that you should do something similar for your channel. John is also very charismatic but I feel like he could have shown more footage documenting his trips. For his trip to Russia, he only made five short videos and left me wanting to see more. I think a lot of your fan base would enjoy seeing you take some cool looking trips on your boat. With your ability to narrate, you could chronicle the adventures in greater detail. Maybe a video for every day of the trip? I could binge-watch that for sure. On the video where you review your Jeanneau Leader 805, you mentioned Smuggler's Blues can cross the channel. Maybe take a quick trip to over Jersey, Guernsey or France?
@@AQUAHOLIC What a great memory you made for yourself and the family! I watched the ultimate charter videos a few days ago. Thats what I had in mind when I wrote about making longer videos detailing a trip.
God damn he has a different woman in each video! What a lifestyle, life goals lol
What a lovely trip 👍👍👍👍👍
Really interesting nick, something I’d like to do.

I’ve written these comments the wrong way round, but never mind. Two great videos, really illustrating the sheer joy of boating. Thanks Nick.
Many thanks, and I'm really glad that you enjoyed them.
That huge sand bank might still have the imprint from when we hit it 😂
Turf Locks pub is mad busy in the summer, hundreds of people descend on that place every day
Made me wet myself when you followed the yacht and friend in! Sort of thing I do if I’m insure or on a route I’m worried about 👍🏻😂
I have to ask who is Millie in relation to you?
every man needs his favorite old bag and it,s not the young lady on the boat ,keep looking and when you spot it you are a true aquaholic fan
We all want to meet Millie

Yes, I believe that they do.
Hi Nick. Very cool video. Do you need a permit to navigate through canals? how do you go about obtaining one?
