- With two goals from Chris Wood, Forest ended the season on a high at Turf Moor to claim all three points and confirm their status in the Premier League for another season. But with the three promoted clubs all returning to the Championship with the lowest combined points tally in Premier League history, can Forest take anything from a 17th place finish.
After the Burnley match Elanga took to social media to reply to a Morgan Gibb-White end of season message to the fans, the Swedish International's replied to MGW with "Loved playing with you bro". Leaving fans guessing if Elanga simply miss typed or was he hinting at a Forest exit for MGW. With PSR restrictions still a concern for Forest, could MGW be the player sacrificed in order to balance the books.
Nuno Espírito Santo took over from Steve Cooper back in December last year, and with the clubs Premier League status confirmed yesterday, his main goal has been accomplished. But in his post match reaction Nuno commented on the fear of some of the players when he first joined the club, and how he had to gain the trust of the squad in the second half of the season.

Keep NUNO. Btw, Nuno's points average higher than Cooper's re: both League matches this season for Forest, and all of Cooper's PL matches across both seasons.
My only criticism for Nuno is game management and subs the rest is way better than cooper ball. God how depressing that was to watch loss after loss could barely watch it.
I need to see Matt and forest for next season. We need to get a lot stronger and tougher.

I’ve changed my mind on Wood, we aren’t gonna get much for him and he’s far more reliable than Awonyi, so I believe he should be sold to bring in another young striker. The relegated cry babies can kiss my wobbly bits. Forest owner Marinakis made a calculated gamble and invested in the club he and we love. Joe Worral has been a good servant and captain. £4m is a bit low, but it’s fair if he’s happy with the move.
Against Burnley w e looked really good when we came out but couldn’t add to the scoreline, and conceded another shit goal 🤦♂️ We showed that we are “nearly a good side” we lack a ruthlessness. Just a couple of the right additions would change that. And one last thing, can you all get off Ryan Yates back, he has now made the most premier league appearances for Forest since our return for a reason, he’s way more important to the team than you realise. As we again dropped deeper and deeper against Burnley he was the one winning the free kicks as he fought to get out of defence, whereas they are the danger areas where all our alternatives were losing the ball, Dominguez, Danilo, Sangare, and even Mangala were guilty of it. When he’s out he’s missed, as he would be if we sold him.

"Loved playing with you bro" is just short for "I loved playing with you bro" This isn't a story.
We dont have enough players who can consistently retain the ball and pass it to a team mate , and conversely, we dont have enough players who can find space to recieve the ball. Hence our horrendous possession stats. Too many flair players, not enough who are comfortable on the ball. When pressed, we are like rabbits in headlights, yet we can only sustain a press of our own for 5 minutes max. The midfield, above all else, has to be addressed in this transfer window. Our lack of midfield stability is where our game breaks down week in, week out. There is no respite for our defence, hence its no wonder they eventually make mistakes.

MGW is over hyped my opinion is he believes he's bigger than our club so if he wants to go be a bit part player/bench warmer elsewhere good luck to him.
Two strategies: if you sell and buy to replace, cash in on MGW and make a play for Ross Barkley. He doesn’t have the work rate of Morgan but his stats are good. I always through Morgan should score more goals.
If we sell and rely on the squad to hold firm, Murillo’s sale makes more sense with Niakhate, Boly and Onobamidele ready to deputise.
If MGW does go, is it really such a biggie?. He's useless at corners, free kicks, and rarely scores. He goes, he goes.
Elanga's comment could be referring to this past season, which is what MGW's post was explicitly about. So "I've loved playing with you this season", but shortened to "Loved playing with you".

How much is the sell on clause for MGW
Nuno just saying it as it is. We all see it. I've said it many times. A together squad and deeply flawed. The stats thing is only half the story. I consider both Nuno and Cooper to be equals given the same support from above and an even playing field for players. Each had their problems.
Cooper had a completely new squad to galvanize and sort out. He had to do it with constant injury and illness up front. Taiwo was carrying one and he lost CHO early and he didn't come back until Nuno was in. And when Nuno was in he not only got his full front line, he was given additions. Not surprising then that Cooper had to defend more, and Nuno could go forward more because he had more. But the outcomes were similar in differing circumstances. When either manager played forward we scored more but lost by conceding more. And when either manager went low block we eked out an occasional win/draw but scoring and conceding less. So the stats alone are not proof that Nuno is an improvement once you add in context. Goalkeepers for example. And VAR helped neither.
Both mangers talked about fear in different ways. We know what Nuno said, and Cooper said that the players needed to back themselves going forward!! And I too have often said that given the ability and skill to play gets you so far, but at this level (and higher) it's a head game. Write down all the players names, and to the left write mindset (Strong/medium/weak) to the left write ability (ECL/Euro/Top 7/Mid table/Bottom 7/Championship/Less) for each player and be honest. What you need here is ability + Mentality to succeed, individually and as a team. Look at where the players came from, and add in progress if any. It is impossible to change a players self belief, all you can do is move them so that they can change their mindset.
The team was together under Cooper in season1 and for most of season 2 until Marinakis clearly pulled his suppport, at which points cracks appeared. Under Nuno they seem together.
A good example of mindset/ability from the Cooper days is Dominguez at WHU. One cock up and he folded for the whole half until substituted. Cooper left him on to let him fight to redeem himself and he didn't do it (Top 7 ability/weak mentality in that match and beyond). Under Nuno something has changed, but still imperfect and self belief at this level is important. Sangare needs a big improvement, as he plays like he doesn't care much. And so on.
It has always been the players this season. Cooper and Nuno have had to deal with a problem within the playing staff, and given the differing circumstances and our constantly acquiring players into the season neither had time to prepare them before the off. It all had to be worked in situ. I think that with support and the extra players we might have survived under Cooper, but it's a mute point. Let it go!!
Not liking the style of play is stupid. Look at the league table. The big 7 plus Villa occupy the top 8 places. Man U have a minus 1 GD and only the other 7 have a positive GD. How do you expect to play open attractive football and remain in the premier league. The intrigue and entertainment is in the David and Goliath Moneyball of it all. Unless we counter attack our way to the top (like Leicester), we aren't going to have much of a chance. After all Burnley have played lovely football all season with a set of players lacking the required ability to do that at both ends with the inevitable result!!!! So the question is would you prefer Open attractive football and relegation a risk, or controlled counter attacking football and continuous premier league football for the future while we build? Fans just seem to want it all. Especially WHU.
Building a squad to do a Leicester is an art (that we seem shit at), and until we get that right then any manager you might want will fail. Cooper wasn't given the time, and not giving Nuno time will end up with the same problem/gamble. I say get off Nuno's back. Let him have next season, and let's see what our shambolic recruiters throw up next time. If you're looking at a player on ability then he must be good enough, and right for the players we already have? so you only need to know about his mindset. When it comes to judging Nuno, make sure it's him and not the players. After all it was the players not Cooper!!!! And don't forget that we totaled less points this season with "Better" players!!!! Even with the points added back on. Great recruitment? I don't think so...(MGW out to buy 2 x flops...I hope not).
Just a few thoughts. But for crying out loud stop expecting world class football with an inadequate squad, and stop expecting the manager to make silk purse out of a sows ear. It isn't going to happen. Dreams of success are fine, but delusional driven rants are pointless. If Marinakis wants the prem, and can't get the players, then staying here gives a chance to grow. Overnight success would need a third club miracle after the Clough/Cooper ones. I say it again. Get off Nuno's back. Let him work. Everybody here wants wins.

Wolfie, you keep stating an incorrect figure re: "PSR deficit". It's not £15m, it's about £25m-£30m. About £15m is the projected loss for 2023/24. But we need to make a profit of about £12m in 2023/24 in order to stay within the three-year PSR net loss limit. Breaking even in 2023/24 would still cause another PSR breach.
£4m too much for Worrall. Champ clubs haven’t got that kind of money to spend on a CB.

Cooper took the same amount of points in the same number of games in season 1 and 2 in the Prem before his sacking. If we had the points deduction points back, we'd have ended up on more points in season 1 than in 2 under Nuno. I don't think it's fair to say Cooper averaged X amount of points before his sacking, compared to Y under Nuno after Cooper's sacking if Cooper took more points over the number of games in the latter half of the season...
Personally think the Home support not being as vocal was the biggest problem this season. Had Nuno had the support Cooper had in season 1 in the Prem (and indeed Cooper had in his first few home matches this season) I think we'd have gained at least 6 or more points in the league, regardless of who was managing. I swear to God, if I were a billionaire Forest fan, I would be paying for the tickets of the more vocal supporters who can't afford to go, because we can't be pricing out the ones who created that atmosphere last season... we NEED to get it back to where it was or we're just not going to be as good at home as we were in season 1...
