    Whether you are a Blur or Oasis fan doesn't matter, if it comes to comparing guitar playing ability Graham wipes the floor with Noel.

      dismalswamp Agreed, but Noel is kinda underrated he did some clever stuff. Then again he was not as clever as Graham, truly an original guitarist.

    At first, I was kind of confused as to why they would release a Graham Coxon signature now rather than at the height of Blur's career, then I remembered they're gonna be opening at the olympics.
    Well played Fender, well played

    Part of the reason I got a Tele back in the day was because of guys like Coxon, Greenwood and the Bloc Party dudes. I would be interested anyway but a Coxon signature series adds to the appeal for me.

    Got it, love it. A guitar builder mate who used to service the guitars and basses for Motorhead put in a brass nut for me to match the original and vintaged it up a bit. Beautiful guitar.

    Sounds great, the colour is not overly appealing and the Graham Coxon signature will have a lot of people asking who? but it is the sound that sells and it is extremely versatile. I have a mexican standard with upgraded Irongear Steel foundry pickups and that offers fat creamy tones remarkably like a humbucker at the neck and crystal clear, sparkling tele jangles at the bridge. The mexican guitars are awesome value for money!!

    The humbucker REALLY delivers a really warm and classic tone, but the single coil pick-up in the bridge sounds tinny by comparison......at least on my Graham Coxon signature guitar. Aside that, its an awesome model

    I have a Baja Tele which looks like the kind of '52 reissue Coxon used to play in Blur back in the 90's, but if I was in the market for a new Tele right now, I'd go for one of these.

    If it a copy of Graham's telecaster, shouldn't it be using Fender bridge single coil and a Gibson humbucker?

    • @1DarkSideOfTheMoon1
      @1DarkSideOfTheMoon1 8 років тому +3

      +Fred Raymond Graham's guitar is a used one, a previous owner installed the Gibson humbucker. Obviously Fender couldn't (or wouldn't) put a Gibson pickup in a guitar of their own.

    • @FredRaymondNa70
      @FredRaymondNa70 8 років тому +2

      haha exactly my point, mate. Without the same character, it's not much of a copy, is it?

    • @1DarkSideOfTheMoon1
      @1DarkSideOfTheMoon1 8 років тому +3

      Maybe that's the difference between a copy and an exact replica. I totally get your point, but Fender would never loose the chance to make a couple more million by manufacturing a Tele with a humbucker and calling it "Graham Coxon Telecaster" lol

    Signature models often put me off a little, even when the signature in question is that of some one I admire. I guess I want to call my playing my own, but why the signature should would change that... I have no idea tbh. At the end of the day the guitar has to stand or fall on its own merits and how they meet your needs. The Coxon Tele sounds really good, and that's a fabulous price for the spec!

    If it's understated I would consider it, if they didn't have their name plastered all over it. Sometimes sig models have specs that you can't find anywhere else

  • @sonoffrog

  • @DaMcaAtak
    @DaMcaAtak 12 років тому

    @lazeedawgs No doubt that a lot of signature models sound great, the artist wouldnt have them setup the way they are if they sounded bad. I guess if you look at it as its simply how artist "x" likes a guitar to sound then they're brilliant, I would be happy using the same wood, pickups and strings etc in a guitar that anyone else is using in the exact same setup.

  • @dazg5342

    Why should it bother you ? I don't understand that question.....My question would be why we look at guitars and assume that the best /important/influential guitar players have to play rock/classic rock ! That's what this seems to imply....the intro music speaks volumes.....Jonny Greenwood....Thom Yorke...Johnny Marr....Graham Coxon some of the finest guitar players of our generation.....The fact that it is called Graham Coxon Fender Telecaster Demo gave it away too...I do love watching you guys and you are normally quite impartial....but this vid makes me feel the same way as if someone had said 'I have a black friend' little bit on the cringy side...crack on though boys...but....ya know ; )

  • @wonnie

    I personally like signature guitars. Often times production model guitars aren't exactly what I want. For instance, there isn't really a guitar on the Fender line that offers scalloped frets and a maple fretboard besides the Yngwie Malmsteen signature.
    I know people should have their own "calling card" but you have to admit they're doing something right with their taste in instruments.

    A lot of Sig models sound cool, but there are a lot out there that the endorsee would not play themselves. I remember reading somewhere that Tony Iommi would not put his name to a guitar until it sounded like he wanted it to and was something that he would play with no qualms at all of quality. But in saying that, I don't know iff I would personally play a sig model, a friend of mine has one and I think it lacks in amenities such as a tone and neck pup regardless of me using them...

    @frypod18 Ah, that's what it's called! Yes, looked it up now and that's the one. Yeah, really nice, big, fat slab of wood! Always gonna get a lot of tone with that much wood (but I'll stop before the double enendres get too easy to ignore!)

  • @lazeedawgs
    @lazeedawgs 12 років тому

    @DaMcaAtak Not buying something b/c it has someone else's name no different than buying something because it has someone else's name on it. Either way you're making your decision based on the name, not the quality/sound of the instrument. Did you know Pete Townshend's main strat is an Clapton signature model?

  • @phlopalopagus

    Hmmm well the bridge was great and the bridge and neck was great but unlike a tele and the neck alone IMO is unusable. Way to muddy! It sounded as if ya had a blanket over the amp. All it would need is a split on that neck pup but in reverse where it was wired as single coil and pull for bucker that way if for some crazy reason you wanted to play jazz on a tele lol you could pull and do so. There would be hell of tonal possibility's on that there geetar.

    I have bought Blur music and a Fender, but I don't think I would buy this guitar. Nice as it sounds, I like to create my own stamp on a standard guitar. Not that I am arrogant enough to sign my own, I just like standard guitars. I appreciate the looks, feel and sound of this Tele but its not for me. Great video though

  • @smudger535
    @smudger535 12 років тому

    @DaMcaAtak Frankly that's a load of bollocks !! If you really believe that a signature on the back of the head takes away the personal touch of the guitar then you need to get a grip !! I have this guitar and I chose it for it's looks, the price and the spec of the thing and I play it my way not at all like graham coxon.

  • @rdoetjes
    @rdoetjes 11 років тому

    Why not "make" one yourself. Buy the body and neck from Warmoth they also sell the 59 nickle plate SD pickup at least you can get a more decent neck and body as well :D Ash is too light a poor choice I think. You want a laminated body Alder *makes it warmer* and a Maple top to get the bright attack and use an overwound Lindy Fralin bridge pickup to bright it up and use a coil cut. Then you have tonal range.

    • @dstolar79
      @dstolar79 7 років тому

      Raymond Doetjes the choice of wood makes no difference to sound the sound comes from the pickup not the wood imo and tone has a lot to do with the player

    Great sounding guitar - Graham Coxon seems to be some kind of sleeper genius?! That being said what the hey-di-heidi-ho happened to Chappers, he looks slim svelte and relatively normal here? Not too long after this there were like three of him and the ridiculous rastanada hair and the old pair of drawers he insisted on wearing on his head needed to go away! I like this more normal version of Chappers as great, where did he run off to?!
