Hi Terry, thanks for your great video. I have recently p/exd my DSLR and Lenses for a Nikon Zfc plus the 16-50 kit lens and I love it, with the size making it so more useable. Its now my only Camera and I use it for Family / Street / Holiday / and Landscape photos. I want to get a second lens but need to be sensible on cost, to get the best use / fun per £ pound. I had considered the Z 28mm f2.8 SE but your other video has convinced me otherwise. My other choices were this Z DX 24mm f1.7 - for Street and lowlight, the Z 40mm f2 - for more Portraits, or the Z DX 12-28mm PZ - for Landscapes. Does any of those three choices jump out as most sensible to you? Cheers Chris
I'm absolutely loving the 24 as my everyday lens (35mm equivalent). Not convinced by the 40 as an awkward focal length to get the most out of (for the type of work I do). I do have the 24 -200 but it comes at a cost. I think I will probably try the 85 next as a portrait lens.
@@TerryLivesey Thanks Terry, I will look out for a s/h Z DX 24mm as soon as one comes available. Last but probs stupid question, if I put the Z DX 24mm on my Zfc, as it is made for the crop-sensor Camera an I not using it as a true 24mm, or have I got that wrong??
It's still a 35mm equivalent (well 36mm to be precise) and hence why I love it. By being DX lens means that's it's small than a full frame lens of the same focal length which makes it lighter and more portable.
Great video. I just picked up a Z30 as a backup to my Z6ii. I thought the Z30 would sit in the bottom of my bag and never get used, but there’s something about the small APSC that I’m really liking. I also have the 28mm 2.8 and I feel like the 42mm equiv focal length is kind of awkward, and the 2.8 is fine in good light, but iso goes high really quick when the light drops. So I just picked up this 24mm 1.7 also. These small DX cameras with the 24 1.7 kinda turn it into a X100V style camera (that shoots better video). Excited for this combo as a daily driver, it’s definitely not a studio setup though.
Totally get what you mean about the 28, I'm even questioning why I've kept it. I love the crop but and the feel of the 24. I don't think I could bring myself to do commercial work with it though, photography wise, video it's spot on 👍
Great video, thanks for your review. I purchased this lens for my Nikon zfc- it’s a beauty- easy to use, small, unobtrusive. used it in Iceland last week, managed to get some super shots. Definitely a keeper!
Works great but not quite wide enough for me for vlogging 🤔 it's got fast autofocus pretty much like all the z range. Would be nice and light on a gimble though and no balance issues 👍
Great lens and beautiful model! I'm keen to get it for my Z50, been waiting for a decent native z mount prime lens under $500 AUD! This is basically the only option atm, I do wish there was more 3rd party support from brands like Sigma or Tamron etc... feels like the lenses for the Z mount are coming out very slowly and they all super expensive for a casual shooter. Made me briefly regret switching to a Z system, I do miss my old Pentax K7 where I had a tone amazing lenses that didn't actually cost an arm and a leg.

Totally agree and Iceland must have been an ace trip 😁
How does is work perform for video? Considering it for gimbal work, paired with the Z50 or Z30

@@TerryLivesey lovely, dont plan to it for vlogging.
nice video Terry
Thanks 😊

Have you tried Viltrox line up. I have the 13mm which is amazing. Just looking at getting the new 75mm.
Sigma have the prime trio for the Z mount already.
About time 😁👍
Good video good lenes but we need new good camera 📷 for it that z50 too old now.
Thanks
Yeah it does need updating, the feature in the zfc were fantastic, just need that in a normal body 👍
Why did she seem like she was there against her will.
I asked myself the same question.😂
