First this is an RoR. Second, the difference is the roster they're released in. Ogres aren't spoiled for choice for anti-large or decent missiles until you get very expensive and they also want as many models charging as possible now. So this unit is pretty required. They also don't get charge defense so you can't actually use them to hold traditionally.

Technically speaking the pigback riders aren't doing impact damage on the stag knights since I believe that is only possible if the effective mass of the unit is higher than the unit getting charged and it only applies if large unit is charging into small unit. But overall the RoR performance just boils down to that insane charge bonus. If your effective MA is 55 over enemy MD you will hit the melee accuracy cap at 90% hit chance. If the enemy infantry unit does not have expert charge defense, the pigback riders will hit their accuracy cap on their charge unless the enemy has more than 68MD, which to my knowledge only applies to whip chosen. I think their most cost effective counter is peasant spearmen due to being the cheapest unit with expert charge defense, but the concept of 100 model infantry unit with 56CB is just clinically insane.
Yeah, they are quite a bit overtuned, but they are still just a RoR unit, you only get 1, maybe removing stats and adding them to the synchronization could make them good in alpha strikes, but the moment they hit 50%, they crumble. And it is quite funny to think about that a possible reason for not making the falling down animation could be to hard to make when they did the atrocity that is the floaty mangle squigs.
Not sure if you did something to your setup, but I find that this video sounds really well. Maybe I'm only imagining it, but there's not much echo and the sound quality is very nice
Considering that they are an ROR unit meaning you can only take one of them I think simply a large cost increase for MP would be a good move in balancing them. They're not going to be carrying games and CA has a habit of over-nerfing units which I'd like to see them avoid in this case. Make the cost something like 750, 50% increase of what they are now and halve their charge bonus perhaps.
ok so some suggestions to fix this: half the charge bonus on piggyback knights, then add an effect that increases the charge bonus up to current when large units are close. remove that extra melee defence perk, because gnoblars riding gnoblars should not have more melee defence than chaos warriors increase their cost. that should happen even with other nerfs. remove their SILVER SHIELDS so these fellas can at least get shot by low tier archers like crossbowmen or peasant bows remove the anti large, since the charge bonus is already enough give them the mass profile of cain wraiths and add a mid-air animation of them flailing their arms about (a mid ground between nurgling level animations and no knockback) post other suggestions in comments.

The one thing I've learned about warhammer is that greenskins inventions and technologies are beyond comprehension and yet they work somehow
Im consistently getting 100 and 200 kills with these guys, with ogre bull or maneater support they can give SO much value

You do understand that ANY unit that reaches 100 weapon strength wich includes charge bonus. Does 0 damage and has bugged attacks?
Only monsterous cav and infantry are affected, normal cav and infantry work normally
