Almost everything you said in this video is why I am also experiencing thinning and damage. My hair is still bra strap length but the VOLUME IS NOT what 8 years natural should be. I GOT LAZY 😥 I am now paying for it and praying to regain what I have lost.
I love your attitude towards this setback. You’re alive and well and your glorious hair will grow longer and healthier. Thanks for the video 😍😍😍😍💃🏿💃🏿💃🏿💃🏿💃🏿💃🏿
nice video! I actually found the opposite, that over time finger detangling gave me more knots! I think technique and the right tool is important. I actually have been shocked by how little hair fall I get when using a proper brush, conditioner and water. I also have similar texture as you, and fine strands.
Thank you for sharing! I started using SOFT 100% Boar Bristle Brushes to softly fluff out my ends before I finger detangle and if needed then use the brush again to detangle the rest. I also only detangle on wash day with wet hair and a thick deep conditioner for slip! There's no more breakage its been amazing, when I braid my hair the ends are not so thin due to breakage from knots. Plus the brush is so soft it feels so good on my hair it no longer feels like a punishment to detangle. IDK why we use such HARD combs and brushes when we have the most delicate hair strands! Think outside the box and find new tools and techniques ladies! Image how much faster you would reach your hair goals if those ends stopped breaking off!!! Try this out and see how it goes!
I understand the controversy behind finger detangling, at one point it was great, then it wasn’t , then it was. We have to understand that using tools improperly can cause damage and using your fingers wrong can cause damage. When I first started finger detangling I was so patient and gentle with my hair strands. I cared mores for them during the time. But when my hair started growing to how I liked it. I got lazy and was so rough on my hair. Just pulling and tuggin. Now I take my time with my fingers and use the right products. I use a brush or wide tooth comb about every other month or when needed
It’s like you are in my house, everything you said I did. My crown is starting to break, sis I’m on a mission to grow it back. Thank you for being honest.
Thankyou Chinwe for these tips I also suffered a setback last year from not sucking to routine started incorporating combs and a avoiding washday . It makes sense right now
This is so true. When I started growing my natural, I was obsessed with the proper routine because I wanted results. After I started getting results, I became lazy. I started dreading wash days, I used to wash my hair weekly, I started washing after two weeks or three. Thank you for this.
Yes only finger detangle hair is thicker but that’s because it’s shed hair that is still stuck in there, the thickness isn’t true. I recommend finger detangling FIRST then using the tangle teezer
Thank you.. You actually triggered my desire to go all natural. I can not remember the last time I put extension on. Definitely, may God bless you. My hair is growing. Why not talking about the scriptures related to your personal experience with God from time to time as new content? Everything that may help someone somewhere. Because you mentioned God in this video, you gave me the feeling to be a spirit filled woman. God bless you. And you family.
Also before I forget to stop and reduce thinning hair you have to use green tea so make strong green tea let it cool down put in spray bottles and apply 3 x a week now that will slow down the thinning hair and the no heat for now just stretch hair naturally with twisted out and start with more moisture, the hair will recover over a year if you stick to it belive me i when went through the same issue after having my baby. The key is to add it to your hair care regime
My hair is also long 4c type and I went to do zip braids and lost much hair..now am trying to get my hair back .pls how many times do I wash my hair within a month as a 4c type?
No that's not it. Brushing your hair breaks it while finger detangling, once done properly, doesn't. After brushing your hair do you ever notice the short pieces on your clothes and on the floor after? That's breakage. That doesn't happen after finger detangling
Afroed hair needs to be left alone... no brushing, over-saturation of different products, say no to all "hair styles and "protective braids". Just leave your hair alone and always, always be mindful of your scalp.

OMG! I had to stop using that detangling brush, too!
Mid-shaft breakage galore!

True, use your hands to detangle. Wet hair for some of us, fragile.
Precisely Caroline!
I also stopped using the brush, I now use the tangle teezer and my hair has been flourishing.

Thank you for watching!
Thank you too!🤍
I made the mistake of overusing fenugreek on my protein sensitive hair.
I was about to get the comb 🤣🤣

Thank you so much for this. It's comforting to see someone cares so much for the hair care of others.
Wearing my hair out a lot causes breakage then less growth but I'm tryna be consistent with protective styling
Great tips. Thank you for your guidance!
Thank you Cheryl!

Hair that is finger detangled only looks thicker than detangled hair because your not getting rid of the daily shedded hair.

You have to reduce heat and learn how to stretch it naturally with out heat
She rarely uses heat if ever, but always good advice
I wash my hair once a month and its blunt 18 inches long I see people washing their hair every week and their hair is still short??
Can you kindly share your skin care secret? Thanks
Working on it Patricia!
I looked at that brush, glad I decided against it!
Thank you...
You’re welcome Stella!
