You make me want to cry with joy. I wish I was 50 years younger, but I'm not and grateful for the adventurous life I have had and living through you vicariously. Thanks
One thing about shipping containers… best to spray foam the roof, snow sitting on the roof causes condensation, and if you lock anything in there wet, that will expedite the condensation.. I know I learned the hard way. I opened mine one day and it was like it was raining inside…. And mold everywhere! I hope you don’t go back to a huge mess .. also the best locks to use are the round one, they are harder for thieves to cut… most shipping container companies weld a lock box on, this makes them impossible to break into…. Other that taking a sawsal and cutting a hole in the side. Have a great time in Peru!
There are companies that make rigid foam board insulation specifically for the inside of shipping containers that will fill in the corrugations and give you a flat surface so you can add an extra inch or more of rigid foam insulation. In the summer time that container will be well over 140F just like a car in the sun, the insulation will help keep the internal temp much lower so things you store inside do not get damaged. You may also consider painting the outside of the container white to reflect the sun. Lock your container with two high security padlocks with pick resistant cylinders, thick shackles that are shrouded so they are not easily cut, like: by Mul-T-Lock #14 NE-Series Padlock with High Guard (5/8" Shackle), Abloy Protec2 PL 362, Abus 37RK/80 Granit, some Medico locks. I own two massive Mul-T-Locks #14's and a single Abus 37RK/80 and they have been standing guard over my boat and trailer chained to a tree in my yard and nobody has attempted to mess with my chain(high security and heavy) or locks. I have had rusting on the Abus lock so I would likely go with an Abloy 362, plus the Abloy has a longer cylinder with more disks so it is even more pick resistant than the Abus. All of the most secure locks are made in Europe with the exception of Mul-T-Lock which is made in Israel, Abloy are made in Finland and Abus are made in Germany Please do not put a master lock or other cheap US made garbage lock on your container or your stuff will be gone. There is one US made lock that is exceptional that the US military uses, the Sargant and Greenleaf 851, 951, 951C but their locks are batshit crazy expensive
Watching you make that basket was honestly the most relaxing moment of my week 😂🤣😂 thank you for sharing your beautiful self with us. Absolutely love your videos!
Much love and gratitude for you and your land! I’m 53 years young now and I have come to realization that stress is a choice. After having adrenal fatigue and chronic fatigue. Which I healed myself from. I know that meditating helps and yoga. Add in faith and Trust to manifestation you have a recipe for miracles. Things will come to you when you believe the universe has your back. ❤ When you were digging your water well! I intuitively knew you were going to strike an abundance. ❤ Listen in the stillness of your heart and soul ❤
You were so cute with your basket! I make UA-cam videos in a similar spirit as you and so so relate to this phase of life your in because it parallels mine as well! I had been living on the road for over a year and this winter just decided I was ready for something new and have been diving head first into renovating my first ‘tiny home’ and being in one place and omg weaving baskets is exactly the kinds of things I have been doing! Haha. Thank you for sharing your journey with us! Sending love from my little corner of the world to yours ❤
That's an excellent basket Linnea. Slick idea regarding the shipping container for storage. Some people turn them into tiny homes. If you're going to use that as a shop, be sure to add insulation on the walls, floor and ceiling to reduce any noise made from power tools. With that metal enclosure, the noise will echo something fierce. As for the exterior, consider painting it with something like a truck bed lining protector. It will prevent the container from rusting as well as give it more sealing from the weather. For heat and cooling, a mini split would be nice, then you can put solar on the roof of the container to produce your own electricity to run the mini split. April Wilkerson has a couple videos on her channel where she installed the mini split in her home.
@@GratefulOverlander You clearly lack experience and knowledge. Whether she knew or did not know is beside the point. There are those that would not think of it, and should they come across the post, the knowledge will have been disseminated. So many people like to use the phrase; "it's common sense" as an excuse to not share their knowledge and experience with others. The truth is; that attitude is both selfish and hateful. This story was told to me by a previous supervisor. A couple of guys were working on a computer trying to figure out why the thing would not turn on. They had been working for hours and my supervisor went into check on them. She talked to them a bit and just happened to glance over at the wall receptacle and asked; "Is this supposed to be plugged in?" The men looked at what she was referring too and uttered an expletive. They were so focused on attempting to figure out what the complicated cause of the computer not starting was, that they neglected to first eliminate the most fundamental cause. The cord was not plugged in. The kicker about this story is; the more experience and knowledge you have, the more likely getting fixated on the complicated before eliminating the simple, is likely to occur. Just because something appears obvious to you, does not mean it is obvious to another. Think about how many woodworking channels there are on UA-cam and how many of them are successful. There are plenty of ideas and plenty of approaches and not a single person has or knows them all. Don't be selfish with your knowledge and experience. What you say that is obvious to you; may be exactly what someone needs to hear for them to realize they are approaching what they are dealing with, the wrong way.
The first video of yours that I watched was when you were working with wild clay from your property. That really reeled me in. Now when I was watching this older video and you cut those thin willow branches, I thought, "If she makes a basket with those, I'm in the right place for sure." And then you did weave a a basket. Happiness!😊
Though you are very generous with the length of your videos, I still find myself saying NOOOOOO, don't leave, I want more! You do a great job on your videos and leaving us wanting more!! 😂❤
I Love every word of this vid. You bought the land and hit water during the well digging. Astonishing from the buck skull to the beautiful dog. Fantastic heart.
That basket is everything. 1st one?! Wow. And all from your own plants on your own land with your own hands - and even the flaws are the mementos of your own learning. What a keepsake. Cool cool cool. Congrats on your homestead.
I am so happy for your new shift in life. The tribute deer skull is an amazing gift to its life. Much impressed with the basket and that the material came from your land. So essentially a bit of your land will travel with you... nice. Your enthusiasm is contagious.
Feel the same as Judy. Wish I was younger as well and could experience all these wonderful adventures. Thank you, Linnea, for taking us along. It's so much fun!
Good job on the basket Linnea. I especially like the coloured strips. You did a great job keeping the shape even. From a fellow fiber artist in Canada. P.s. i ❤❤❤❤❤❤ your view of the mountains! Safe travels to Peru.
Love your channel! One day please show us your creativity and editing video process. You release such an integerous narrative in your work and I’d love to hear you describe more
Tons of place for stuff and your tools. Blank canvas. Open! Get a shed from Home Depot. Much harder when you’re in a city apartment. No driveway or garage. Those sheds are awesome around $400
Linnea and Chris and of course those beautiful hounds I am so very happy for your transformation into newer chapters.. Linnea you are such a talented young lady ❤️ ❤ that basket is amazing. Your land is going to be a paradise I'm sure. Safe travels guys until the next one, and as always thanks for sharing your bits and bobs of your life 😊
First thing i'd do is paint the shipping container a colour that blends into the natural surroundings . That bright orange is going to attract all sorts of people , maybe not the best idea for a young woman in isolation . Wish you all the best
I always love watching your videos. They bring me such peace. Have a wonderful trip to Peru. Look forward to hearing all about it. Also, 🙌 on the basket. Amazing first one. Looks like you know exactly what you were doing. ❤❤❤
I love the music you play and I've stared to Shazam them, I now have a Linnea & Akela play list, whoot. Since I'm living vicariously through you, it's so appropriate lol ✌️💜🇨🇦
Lady... I don't know how much you really are like your videos.... But you seem like such a unicorn... You seem so unreal... So many goofy TikTok gals out there. They seem like if you aren't throwing money at them every 5 minutes they just wanna tear your eyes out... Sometimes I dream of doing what you did, but move to Winnemucca or outside of Winslow. Funny how unpopulated the eastern side of the Grand Canyon is. Couple of huge Indian Reservations and some small towns along the minor interstates; and that's it... Sometimes I use google maps and pin the roads and enjoy the landscapes in those areas... Vegas seems to dry and dusty... Where you start to see foliage heading east and or north. That's when the landscapes seem the most beautiful.
Nice basket. Happiness and a good sense of accomplishment. Can t wait to see it hanging above the door of whatever home you build. Enjoy South America.
Linnea, I haven't been getting notifications for your channel. It's been over a month, I just happened upon this one. Nice basket, enjoy your trip to Peru.
Congrats. be proud of your self. This is so much accomplished. a ship-contain. workshop. water and beautiful land. and a dear rack 2nd life really cool.what a amazing start. so happy for ya. this is so much accomplished. a strong foundation for your land. congrats
Your basket turned out AMAZING! So happy to see your progress with what your doing with your life style! Thanks for sharing all of it with us! I look so forward to see you and chris's next videos! Safe travels! ((HUGS))
You will be very happy with your storage shed shipping container. Money well spent. I love your videos and enjoy watching you two explore and evolve as a couple.
AND that song at the end is SO ME! Just waking up every morning HOME. Friends don’t get that… we have a storm coming and they want me to take Sorcha snd go to my sons through the weather. YOU I know get me here, I’m home in my wee camper, and why run with bad weather 🤷♀️Still working at ripping down my burned house MAN! I WAS a pack rat 😄😄. I’d like to hear the entire song 🙏
Cheers to safe and fun travels ahead. Thank you for sharing your adventures and especially the part about the container as my husband and I have been considering purchasing one. ❤❤
So fun watching this❤. Warning...basket weaving is a gateway drug into fiber art everything......( my name is Kari and I am a fiber....and kitten addict😅). Looking forward to your new adventures!
Time to build a metal shed roof on top of it so all the snow just slides off. You can use Adobe capture to take a picture of your land and get paint swatches to match if you want it to blend into the foliage :)
Beautiful goodbye for now. I love the orange container. I truly hope that it is weather tight. How's Peru? Can't wait to see the next videos on the 5 month hiatus from the cold. Linnea the basket is beautiful. You should be proud. Great job on the skull. Have fun. Be safe❤
Oh my gosh, basket made from nature, at first thought, "she's about to make a fire", the basket is so beautiful, it was just as exciting seeing how you made it...I have a similar woven basket on my mantle, just knowing that maybe it was made that way too is so satisfying 🥰
Enjoyed this video a lot more then others because your being more of an individual rather then copying everything your neighbors do. That’s cool watching someone with their own ideas. The basket is gorgeous!
What a beautiful basket. As a long time basket maker myself, I saw only perfection. And your first basket too, OMG. perfect. What a heart filling, feminine tribute to yourself. A simple basket made by you for you contains all the energy of your hopes and your dreams for your new adventure. Make sure to record how it as it dries and ages. They only get better with age, but I’m sure you are already aware of that!
For those considering a shipping container, get a 9' high cube if possible.. that extra 12" is HUGE. I use 24" pallet racking along the sides. I just cut the back end put of my 40'er. VERY easy to grind the WHOLE 8X8 end out. The steel is thin Core10 designed the bear weight only at corners. Thin thin thin.

wow! you could insulate that inside and out; stick a large woodburner in it and you are cosy! nevermind the workshop 😅 Thanks for the vlog, as always, a joy.
Good job Linnea! I do not have as much land as you but I understood right away before I put one thing on my property that to live 100% off grid, I had to have storage for my tools, a workshop area and then my home. I drew up a rough sketch of where I wanted to go because of the small area especially my power grid that I had to build. You have 40 acres. Build wisely and you will be happy. . Love the craftwork. 😇
Beautiful area! This video reminds me of Gregory Alan Isakov’s song “Dark, Dark,Dark” where he writes about the SLV. “wake up Marie, before the season turns set your dash for the coast, watch the Sangres burn” Every November, before the winter weather hits we pack up our camper and leave the valley for warmer shores. Enjoy your new space!
Love love love the basket. I'd like to learn how to make one. How'd did you learn? Good luck on your travels. They sound reenergizing. You'll already be happy you bought a 40 ft containing. Always.
So greatful you allow all of us to share your explorations as we tag along & live vicariously thru your adventures
*grateful
I agree ☝️ I wish you find your foundation in your new land. A big congratulations 🙌

Love your basket, time well spent, it is beautiful!!! As for your skull, wOW!!! What a way to honor nature's life.. Beautiful!!! 💕✌️❤️

Your basket, made from willows and dogwood, from YOUR property is really pretty. Quite useful too! Wow, Linnea. ,you are so special 😊
I like the houses people build from shipping containers. Especially if multiples get used to create bigger rooms, stories, balconys and such.
Good job on the basket Linnea. I especially like the coloured strips. You did a great job keeping the shape even.

Bravo on the basket. It’s gorgeous. So happy for you to be reaping benefits from your land. Wishing you safe travels and a wonderful trip to Peru.
I took that weaving class in college but they had us do it underwater.
Dang, you can do anything. 😮 can’t wait for the next episode when get back on your property ❤

Wow, so much accomplished. Love the basket and the care you took to honour the buck skull. Happy and safe travels ❤️

So excited to be a part of this journey 🫶🏼
For those considering a shipping container, get a 9' high cube if possible.. that extra 12" is HUGE. I use 24" pallet racking along the sides. I just cut the back end put of my 40'er. VERY easy to grind the WHOLE 8X8 end out. The steel is thin Core10 designed the bear weight only at corners. Thin thin thin.
I cannot tell you how excited I am for you and to follow along. You have some of the most helpful videos and purchasing raw land is something I’ve found extremely overwhelming
What a GREAT job you did on the basket! Amazing that it's your first!!
One worry about the multi use shipping containers is... you have no idea what was in that container 🤢⚠️☢️. I would worry less about dents and more about toxic chemicals, overseas garbage, radioactive materials.
We purchased a 20ft container for our outside toys (lawnmower, atv log splitter, tools) such a game changer and keeps those items out of our sheds.

Awesome basket! It's great to bring a piece of your new properly with you.
Great video!
BEAUTIFUL basket🤗
Congratulations and thanks for sharing!
Take care 🥰
Omg you are super talented❤❤❤❤❤ I was wondering why you were cutting branches. Omg talent!!!
So sweet to watch the pups play. Mine never stop. PS your basket as we say in Texas is "Purdy" :)
That basket is seriously amazing!!!! If I was your parent I would be bragging 24/7!

Beautiful area! This video reminds me of Gregory Alan Isakov’s song “Dark, Dark,Dark” where he writes about the SLV.
“wake up Marie,
before the season turns
set your dash for the coast, watch the Sangres burn”
Every November, before the winter weather hits we pack up our camper and leave the valley for warmer shores.
Enjoy your new space!
Love love love the basket. I'd like to learn how to make one. How'd did you learn? Good luck on your travels. They sound reenergizing. You'll already be happy you bought a 40 ft containing. Always.
That basket was mesmerising to watch being woven ❤
