Mark, I do enjoy your review videos as they provide a real world test of the equipment, rather than an analytical view on the technology itself. So much so in fact that, after your review and test of the Kickr Headwind, I went out and bought one myself AND I LOVE IT. I've only used it once so far, but I'm in the middle of a training block at the moment so it should improve my cooling as my previous fan was not ideal for the purpose.

Loving the channel. Keep up the great work.
I've been binge watching your channel, not in chronology order. Would love to see a video, maybe you can make it a series, on how you've upgraded your workout/exercise gear over the years. What did you do with the old stuff? As in is it worth starting with the basics, selling them and upgrading or is it more of a hassle and just best to go with the pro/more expensive items from the gate?

  • @noggintube
    @noggintube 2 роки тому +4

When I upgraded from my kickr Snap with climb to the kickr bike, the one thing I missed was the climb. While the kickr bike is really nice and smooth when tilting, the climb unit seemed more 'alive' whereas the kickr bike is a bit too subtle imo. I wouldn't get rid of the kickr bike just for that, but I do wish the tilt function was more noticeable, but still very nice to have.

Another great video Mark . Used to love my Kickr Climb, but after killing 2 Kickr climbs and Wahoo replaced with a third climb , fantastic customer support from Wahoo. I didn't felt it fair if I broke the third climb, so sold it and bought the Kickr Bike, absolutely love it. Will be interesting to see how you get on with it over the next couple of months especially riding up the Alpe. Mine two climbs died after just doing just over 100 Alpe climbs each ! 😱 Yes mad I no ! The Kickr Bike has been faultless though after achieving 380+ Alpe climbs up to now .😂

Great video as always. Had my kickr bike about 2 weeks, came from the tacx Neo. .
Love the bike, slight downside for me is the slight free play In the tilt function, no problem when going up but because the tilt is in the centre when you are descending your weight is forward of the pivot point and I can feel that free play and it's somewhat annoying. Noticed it big yesterday on Ven-Top, great on the way up but coming down which I was using as a cool down spinning at 125W I could feel it badly and I the end I turned off the tilt. I know the play is normal but I assume you don't get that other kickr climb because the movement is at the front and your weight is still behind it?if that makes any sense

Can't do Titan's Grove now without expecting to see Ant & Dec popping up. Cheers! Not unsurprising that the climb feels more natural. I have a NEO tacx 2 .. I moving to the bike as where it is nice if you have a permanent bike to leave on it I been doing Zwift long enough that the full kickr bike is a no brainer as yeah I don't want to wear out and need to fine tune my bike on the trainer ... Was why I kept my old bike that is street retired on it but yeah I still destroy bits of it with sweat as yeah I am 104kg as well and yeah I sweat ...
Would have been good to see this on a Sprint as honestly with how hard you put down the watts... I be freaked of this tipping over
Still not a big diff for me as my neo it is not recommended with using climb with it so yeah for all the bits I want the kickr bike is the only way for me

    Hi Mark,
When you speak to a Wahoo-rep again, say thank you for me !
    Thx.
Personal experience with the Kickr Climb:
I have had a back operation which has sidelined me, more or less for a year during which i could not push harder than about 200 Watts. I had to build back nearly all strength in my lower back which was a huge pain in the neck ! When you are on the bike, the muscles in your lower back work harder when you push more Watts. AND my stability was nearly gone as well which prevented me from standing on the pedals for a long time.
A year later, i am nearly fully on track again, at about 75% and improving quite fast now. This summer i have been on several of the highest Dolomites in Italy, like the Stelvio and the Gavia. Something i could not have imagined 6 months ago.
One of the tools that was a TREMENDOUS help in training and recovery is, and will be, is the Kickr Climb.
It is not a gimmick or a toy. It actually helps strengthening your lower back. Build stability and helps you adjust your posture before you are going to the mountains. In previous years i had in the first few days muscle aches and a fatigued lower back due to the angle in which you are sitting on your bike during a climb.
All that is over now. My back is VERY happy again and when i do a climb now, which takes over an hour, which is normal for a serious climb, my back is no longer fatigued and my balance is better than ever. Standing on the pedals is better than ever. As soon as i arrive in the mountains, i am adjusted for them. And that is a HUGE plus when you live in the flattest country in the world !!
So, THANK YOU VERY MUCH WAHOO for getting me back on track in 'no time' !

This is very interesting to me. I am seeing a back pain specialist because I have arthritis and herniated discs. They are about to begin a multi-step procedure of injections and ablations to help with the pain. I'm thinking the Climb may help me build up core strength to alleviate some of the pain I'm experiencing. Maybe I'll pick one up in spring after we've moved. I know one thing for sure, I can't stand up and pedal right now, it's too awkward. Perhaps the climb may help with that as well.

Contact area looks bigger than a normal bike tyre, so I don't expect there'd be much of a problem. Possibly a little less stable if you're sprinting up a 15% incline as the lever is longer, but most of the stability comes from the trainer at the back.

Haven’t scrolled down but I believe your math to be wrong. The relationship between wheelbase and slope is not linear. Slope is defined as rise over run. Take a couple of examples say 20% vs 10% climb and calculating the hypotenuse (wheelbase) for each and it illustrates this. BUT for intensive purposes it’s close enough. Sayin’ for a friend.

"I don't ride a real bike" he says with many bikes in the background.

Why have you got a Cervelo p3x when you're only staring triathlons next year? That's one hell of a bike for an entry level triathlete!

    Save your money
Zwift is about motivation to exercise or train
It is not particularly realistic compared to outdoors except for the physical effort
The same training results could be achieved with a more simple setup

Word of caution - if the belt breaks in it you will be immediately dropped on the floor. I've heard of this happening to 3 different people and it's the reason why I won't buy one. The failure mode in this product is outright dangerous and the product should be redesigned

I was gonna get a peloton too expensive so I bought a stryde . Having a realistic bike simulation is awesome but I will have. Abike as good as peloton with fancy screen for 1600 who wouldn't buy a stryde .if I bought a bike over 3 grand my dad would throw me out the house and wack me with the bike

Because climbing the alpe at 100% setting on the kickr bike doesnt engage different muscles in your legs …. Its a pity some people just dont get it
