@@audreyperrin320 Yes, me too. He was treated badly by the BBC. Why get rid of a winning format that is still the second most listened to show in the country after Ken Bruce?
Bless you Steve you deserved a Knighthood for your services to radio. But you have joined our late Gracious Majesty. Im sure she will come over and say hello. RIP Old mate.
I cannot believe some of these legends had to tell the Queen who they were. Eric Clapton and she didn't know him. Steve Wright had to tell her what his afternoon show was about. What has she been doing for the last 90 years ? Rest peacefully Steve. You've been in my living room and in my truck for 40 years. Never cried over a celebrity passing before, until now 😢
This technique of seemingly not knowing her guests has been perfected over the years. She knows that to avoid accusations of favouritism, jealousies or other misunderstandings that our beloved media would infer, she has to keep a distance.
The way she shakes Jimmy Page's hand and asks "Are you also a guitarist?" It all looks so awkward, especially when she clearly doesn't know who any of them are.
This clip is a shoehorn into RIP Steve and that's fine but isnt it interesting to see celebrities of that time acting nervous and humble around the queen. She didnt have a clue though did she haha, Eric Clapton? Oh so how long have you been playing?
The BBC have blood on their hands. When they 'let you go' there is none of this aftercare they roll out. Nothing. I actually got cancelled, Steve didn't i'm not suggesting that for a second. He was my hero. I went head to head with him locally, which cheesed me off because it meant i couldn't listen to him. But yeah, when the BBC fired me, they threw me under the bus then it felt like they reversed over me, as the press were like hyenas - it went International, accusations of all sorts of things that were so far removed from the truth, but they didn't put them right. I felt i'd lost someone i loved. my 25 year career down the drain for WOKEISM. I went back to work in Spain, then came back but my career never revived. I had so much more to give. For some radio is a job. For others, it's a way of life.
Steve and The Queen....2 greats together. RIP, miss you both.😢❤❤❤
And W ogan
Absolutely gutted a true icon to our radio and our memories. Thank you Steve! xxxx
A great part of people’s everyday life who listened to him over the last 4 decades a very sad day RIP Steve you are a legend 🙏
She very clearly says "it sounds very exhausting" to which he replies "I'll be tired next week".

R.I.P Steve...a Legend of the Airwaves. And it looks like Her Majesty felt very comfortable with the Radio Broadcasters too...

Rest in peace dear Steve, you are sorely missed
Steve was the funniest radio presenter ever plus his voice was perfect for radio, really miss him in the afternoons
And I still miss hearing him on Sunday Love Songs, even though Michael Ball is doing good being his successor
Every day on the school bus in 1990, steve wright in the afternoon....
Marvellous man!

Similar to a high court Judge having daily events explained to him. Obviously the Queen was a big fan of marching bands!

It’s merely polite to introduce yourself formally when speaking to someone new but especially so when speaking to Royalty
I miss The Queen too.
Thankyou Steve for all the lovely laughs, going way back to the glorious 80s, may you rest in peace, you lovely man, 🌹🌹🌹❤️🌹🌹🌹🙏🏻
Great to see the clip. Although the Queen didn’t say ‘very naughty’ she said ‘sounds exhausting’.
Sad news today 😢 RIP Steve.
lets hope they are both upstairs listening to the radio show
Bloody hell, the dear old Queen didn't seem to know who any of them were!
Oh my, that lineup of great guitarists! I love that she asked Brian May if he was worried he might fall off the roof of the palace.
"That sounds very exhausting" get your title right big boy

she said "that sounds very exhausting"
Teary eyed over Steve 😢 Queen loved good old Tel though ❤
Amazing video starring all the golden greats❤
Three guitar gods and she sidnt know any of them, lol. You would think they would give he a bio on each of her guests.
And could you name classical composers you never listened to at a similar reception? What a tasteless comment.
Farewell Steve, Doug Mulray is waiting to say hello and share some gags.....
Wogan returned from the Seychelles 😚😝
Wednesday 2nd March 2005
Shirley Bassey looked gorgeous and Jools Holland looked as though he'd stuffed his chest

Jamie Cullum reminds me of Frodo Baggins from LOTR! 😍😍
