I met Ed about 8 years ago in Edinburgh during the festival. I worked in security at the time and my friend and I were walking to our next shift when I saw him at York Place. I told him that I love his work and was glad to meet him, he was so humble. I tried to explain to my friend that he was a famous comedian over here (he is Polish and not a stand up comedy fan so had no clue lol) and Ed said "I'm hardly famous" I told him that my friend is just a philistine. 😂 Ed's truly one of my faves, glad the adage about never meeting your heroes was wrong in his case. 💙🏴🇮🇪🧡
That story rings true for me with a lot of comedians, it must be said. I work in Edinburgh and have met quite a few of what I would call 'famous' comedians - and they've rarely been anything other than friendly, humble and grateful for the recognition. I think it must be something about making people laugh that keeps your ego in check compared to other performers.
“I want to see you shit in this bin” is like a Sean Lock level joke but to really feel it land you need all the other previous jokes and puns because it so comes out of left field.
I love Ed Byrne. Dangerous combo being both damn gorgeous and hilarious. Would love to have a conversation with him where we just throw jokes at each other. Imagine all these guys played cards against humanity. Would be the best.
Um... Ed's "Cooking While Pissed" idea is brilliant. I suggested trying 'deep fried soup' in another MTW video's Comment section, but I'd like to cover my luscious Limey arse by issuing the following safety warning: Do not under any circumstances pour soup or water into a chip-pan full of boiling fat. The water/soup will EXPLODE, covering you in blazing oil and setting fire to your kitchen. So go round to your mate's house and get him to deep fry some soup while you watch the telly. Remember to shut the kitchen door.
Thank you. Ed is second only to Frankie on MTW. I can't bare to watch the show now because I can't stand any of the others so a compilation of Ed is pure gold
"You can do this, just barricade the doors and windows, don't answer any questions, and in four weeks, you'll be Prime Minister." Funny at the time, but it could have been true now.
Recently saw a comical and insightful interview with Ed Bryne discussing his career highlights. You guys should check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/EfFEiaMY31s/v-deo.html
As this video went on I realized the reason Ed Byrne kept his hair long for so many years. Now the world knows that about 49 years ago then actor Nigel Havers was very precocious indeed. 😉
Sod's Law in the UK means if something can go wrong it probably will. Sod is another term which is sometimes used to mean turf, so Ed Byrne's joke was a play on words, so too was Ed Gamble's garden joke. But Ed G got a bigger laugh. Which Ed B pretended to be offended by. So Ed G repeated Ed B's joke for a bigger laugh to make it look like he was a more popular comedian than Ed B. 2 well liked comedians just having a bit of banter.
The first time I heard the "Go 8-bit" line I had a mouthful of Bourbon & Coke...it wasn't pretty. There's nothing quite like laughing and choking and thinking you might just die this time.
I don't get it, in one of eds stand up shows he says he doesn't like jokes about fat people, yet in Mock the Week he makes multiple fat gags himself and laughs at other peoples, makes no sense what so ever
It was a joke about the teletubbies. "Tra" is not a teletubby. Tinky-Winky, Dipsy, Laa Laa and Po are the names of the teletubbies, and Poland happens to be the name of a real country, making it a double joke. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teletubbies
@@briansammond7801 My mind-brain is pretty much TELETUBBIES free, so I had assumed he was just referencing Poland as his quote-unquote punchline. The suggestion I made was in reference to "tra-la-la" -- (noun) a set of nonsensical syllables used while humming a refrain.
Ed Byrne always has at least one solid gold gag in each episode.
Yes, he deserves his spot, but he still sometimes gives of the “Hi, I’m Dara’s charity case” vibe...
@@automatedwoodworker Well, he shouldn't. He's definitely in what I consider a perfect line-up.
‘Cooking when pissed’ and ‘Let’s .... the Shit Out Of This...’ are two of Ed’s best running gags.

I came here for that
