Congratulations! I learned about the “sigh” many years ago. When eating sit up straight, eat slowly, and when you are full, you will give a sigh, stop eating. It is like you said, it’s about listening to our body.
YAY Sandra. I’m so proud of you. As a retired nurse, they say 3-4 lbs for clothing and shoes. I on the other hand keep losing weight to the point I’m really under weight, and can’t gain. I’ve always been lean. Oh, I love my cottage cheese Sandra a snot a day goes by that I don’t eat it. I use 2 containers of Large Curd, mix a large box of Orange Jello mix, let that set for awhile. I drain a can of crushed pineapple and a can of mandarin oranges. Mix that all together and then add a small amnt of Extra Creamy Cool Whip. It’s delicious. Your hair looks so pretty and full. Once again congratulations

Sandra..congratulations! We are. On the same diet. I finally realized my portions are too large. I gave up sugar because it was an addiction. I also lowered my carbs. Not eliminate…just lower. My main focus is protein. I try to hit between 60-100 gr. I listed to a lady doctor talking about how seniors need lots of protein to maintain their bones and teeth. She recommends 100-120. That’s tough. That means at least 30 gr per meal with a protein snack. I really rely on sugar free cottage cheese and yogurt. Lunch meat roll ups of a slice of ham, with a slice of cheese. Eggs, and then of course our normal meats. It has made such a difference in my eating. My breakfast is a hot cup of tea, with a scoop of collagen, and a scoop of protein powder. You can easily have an egg and toast with that. But that warm beverage is delicious, as I use chocolate protein powder. You can add powdered Peanut butter too. It’s like a hot smoothie. I have kept 30;lbs off this way. Now I am working on 10 more. Thanks for your update. You look great in your walking videos on Instagram, Ps. Take that apple, chop, add a few nuts, some cinnamon, a little sugar free sweetener and a dash of sugar free coffeemate put it in the microwave and cook it. I love that as a side to dinner or with a touch of whipped cream for dessert. I follow low carb love and she has great ideas. But the best idea is what you said, just cut your food down to comfortable. Hugs Judy.

Yesterday I grated carrots and sweet apples a really beautiful natural and sweet taste. I had never heard about biotin interfering with thyroid test results. Thank you for sharing. I get tested every 6 months so will remember next time to stop biotin at least a week before test. My daughter who lives in France is just beginning her thyroid testing journey. Her endocrinologist told her not to do fillers because some people have problems with them. I had never heard that ! Bravo on the gradual weight loss.
I recently started using my mothers set of desert rose china. I was shocked how much smaller the dinner plates are compared to the plates we had and you see at the store. So we started using those plates for all our meals, and really helped with portion control; and we are both losing weight.

I knew I had to do something, just like you. The first week in August I told my husband that I was hoping to loss the darn weght. The first week I gave up Sugar and anything made with flour, also tried intermittent fasting. It's not bad at all, I m not doing Keto, its too restructive! I weigh myself this morning. I lost 23 pounds!!!! It's working and I don't feel deprived! It's what ever works, I like your idea also, I noticed I eat alot less also. Good luck, I will keep you posted.....😘

Good for you! Cutting out sweets is the hardest but after my cervical surgery, I wasn’t eating much, so I have kept that habit up. I’m not starving. I’m just not pigging out. Best of luck with those eating habits. Wonderful❤

Hello! Today is the first time to watch your channel. I’m 72 yo, 40+ (gradual increase) pounds over weight since c*vid, had pneumonia in March 2024- with lingering cough. I also have not been exercising because of cough and shortness of breath. Thank you so much for encouragement and some key points for weight loss- better food choices and healthier changes.
I’m going to try your game plan. I need to lose 15 lb or so, I like apples, giving up sweets (my weak spot) is good as we get older, little exercise, good to go! I’ve also noticed I can’t eat like I used to, and sometimes I go to bed feeling stuffed, and I don’t sleep as well. Thanks Sandy for solid practical advice!
As a vegetarian, I’m always trying ways to eat more protein. I eat 2 tbsp of peanut butter every day, I love cottage cheese and blueberries with cinnamon, I do eat eggs2x a week, apples and I put nutritional yeast on most everything. I lost about 15 pounds, plus I walk everyday. Everyone has to find their own way
I've lost weight twice doing WW...I got my lifetime membership to Weight Watchers....I gained the weight back plus more. In 2020 I lost my appetite and dropped 20 pounds effortlessly...kept that off 2 years but my appetite came back, and gradually gained weight. It's a battle for sure. I've found eating a Lean and Green bowl at lunch time made a big difference in my hunger and appetite. Adequate protein, complex carbs in moderation and veggies and fruit is very satisfying and I don't have the cravings. Adequate protein is about 3 oz for me.

Hi Sandra 💕 Thanks for sharing , I just want to share that I learnt to listen to my body when I developed vertigo I found I couldn’t eat very much or I’d be sick , we all should learn to listen to our body it’s amazing what we learn . So happy you have lost 13 pounds, I lost 15 kilograms 3 yrs ago with intermittent fasting, which I still follow I find it so easy again I listen to my body some days I want to eat before my 11 am fasting break so I do other days I can go through to 2 pm or longer I’m just not hungry , other days if I want a piece of cake or something sweet I will have it I very rarely deprive myself, I’m still doing my stair walking holding the railing which I have said to you before it’s my only form of exercise. I had thought I might be able to get into the pool this summer ( here in Aussie land ) but I was out talking to hubby yesterday while he was cleaning it and the moving water set off my vertigo again 😞 . I walk everyday except when I can't. Doctors appointments and such. I started at 1 1/4 miles and worked up to 2 miles. Now going for longer. But I lost weight at 1 mile. I also go up hills in my area. Start slow and build up when you feel strong enough. 👍

Sugar is my absolute downfall... cottage cheese with fruit is a favorite ~ especially with bananas and cinnamon.Trying to wean off sugar is very difficult for me. Started to use a tiny bit of splenda is the morning coffee instead for vanilla coffee mate... You are looking vibrant and beautiful Sandra! 👍
Hi Sandra, I'm new to your channel. Congratulations on your weight loss!! I have been trying to loose weight for over a year and all im doing is yo yoing. I cant seem to loose anything worth while. I think i just really have to give up the sweets!!! I have a Thyroid problem that i've had for over 40 years. I do think that hinders my weight problem a little bit. Any way getting to my question you said that you need to stop taking biotin. Is that just while you have your thyroid blood test done or not to take it at all?? I'm going to start fresh starting tomarrow on my diet and hopefully i will start seeing some great results. I really hate going to the Dr. And being told that I'm overweight!! I never was. Hello Sandra, just found you, like your way of going. On this weight thing I eat according to my blood type which is A which means i dont eat meat only fish. No sweets except white wine. Lots of yogurt with honey and walnuts for evening bedtime snack most nights. I don't over eat i stay the same sz 6 for many years. I just turned 70 and not gaining and don't think I will. I believe food is over rated. I say with bad eating "eat it and wear it". jeanelle in nevada

I don’t eat sweets, I don’t eat fatty fried foods or processed foods. I’m very diligent with portions, keeping them to just enough. I hardly drink wine anymore, maybe one evening a week when I’m doing my hair treatment in the bath with music playing and it feels like pampering. But my problem is I can’t do much exercise though i ry to do dance cardio every day for 15 to 30 minutes depending on my knee. I’m waiting for a replacement and it’s so frustrating. I can’t walk anywhere as it’s so painful. I do sing in a choir though. And I know that my lungs thank me. I can’t wait till after my knee replacement which will be I hope in the next 6 months. I’m an American currently living in the UK and you have to wait for it on the NHS. But I haven’t gained and I think it’s because I’m very aware of when I feel “comfortable”. As well as the dance cardio that is “knee friendly”. I also noticed my clothes are fitting better. Not every day but most days. And I try to keep positive. My exercising time will come! I’m 64 and just want to be healthy. I congratulate you on the 13 pounds. It’s so exciting when you lose. It motivates you. Good luck!

Have you tried Grow Young Fitness. It is chair exercises to start out. Sounds a little stupid, but it works. As you progress you find you can move better and your balance gets some much better. It is done with your computer or ipad or phone. So easy and so inexpensive and it really works. I still walk twice a day because of the young dog. It all helps so much. It is also a mood levels. I also eat a whole lot of cottage cheese and apples. Try to eat organic as well. I also drink a whole lot of water. I really like the True Lemon lemonade. It helps me drink more water is very important in weight loss. I have lost 45 lbs. in a year.

Tumors My doctor thinks I should get the tumors cut out instead of radiation. My oncologist relocated so I need to find a new one. Recently diagnosed with dementia. Ive been a widow for 29 years. Good old cottage cheese. Sometimes I add some crackers. I love salt. Make sure you get a couple of opinions regarding those tumors. Are you near a City of Hope? Or a cancer center?
Mindful eating is the best place to start when you want to lose weight!!! Low carb works for me along with stopping my eating before I am stuffed!!!!! 💝💝💝
My PCP told me to stop all over the counter meds, vitamins, and supplements a few days before having my thyroid tested. She said you never know where the biotin is hiding!

Finding that "comfortable" feeling takes discipline too, but it CAN be done!! Its so worth it knowing we can eat ANYTHING, not just TOO MUCH! I have happily lost about a lb a week this last month. (I also weigh like you!). I think the word is SCARFING. Mindful eating is SO important!

I don't limit myself to anything. But I just don't eat the whole thing. Only because I find it's too much. This morning I had oatmeal. In the past I'd make a double amount. Today I could finish the single amount. So I'm just eating less but feel comfortable.
I love this way of eating, I feel free to eat what I want, which actually inspires me to make healthy choices! If I put restrictions on myself, it always backfires. I drink herb tea all the time, I add a little non dairy oat creamer (brown sugar) from Trader Joe's, and it's delicious!🍂🫖🍁
@SandraSallin I'm not picky with brands. I drink peppermint in the morning and chamomile at night. I have a cute little electric tea pot that makes it fun to prepare. A bit of creamer or honey makes a big difference 😊

Yeah, Sandy I can’t have regular chocolate because it makes my heart beat faster and I cannot sleep at night. I love chocolate but can’t have it, although I have had my share of it my life time. haha I follow quite a few gals but you are the only one I text to. Thank you so much. I think my skin is inherited from my mom and I've always taken good care of it. I've been using SPF for years and years. Plus I've never enjoyed sitting in the sun.

Thanks for sharing , I just want to share that I learnt to listen to my body when I developed vertigo I found I couldn’t eat very much or I’d be sick , we all should learn to listen to our body it’s amazing what we learn .
So happy you have lost 13 pounds, I lost 15 kilograms 3 yrs ago with intermittent fasting, which I still follow I find it so easy again I listen to my body some days I want to eat before my 11 am fasting break so I do other days I can go through to 2 pm or longer I’m just not hungry , other days if I want a piece of cake or something sweet I will have it I very rarely deprive myself, I’m still doing my stair walking holding the railing which I have said to you before it’s my only form of exercise.
I had thought I might be able to get into the pool this summer ( here in Aussie land ) but I was out talking to hubby yesterday while he was cleaning it and the moving water set off my vertigo again 😞 .

I walk everyday except when I can't. Doctors appointments and such. I started at 1 1/4 miles and worked up to 2 miles. Now going for longer. But I lost weight at 1 mile. I also go up hills in my area. Start slow and build up when you feel strong enough. 👍

Sugar is my absolute downfall... cottage cheese with fruit is a favorite ~ especially with bananas and cinnamon.Trying to wean off sugar is very difficult for me. Started to use a tiny bit of splenda is the morning coffee instead for vanilla coffee mate... You are looking vibrant and beautiful Sandra! 👍

Hi Sandra, I'm new to your channel. Congratulations on your weight loss!! I have been trying to loose weight for over a year and all im doing is yo yoing. I cant seem to loose anything worth while. I think i just really have to give up the sweets!!! I have a Thyroid problem that i've had for over 40 years. I do think that hinders my weight problem a little bit. Any way getting to my question you said that you need to stop taking biotin. Is that just while you have your thyroid blood test done or not to take it at all?? I'm going to start fresh starting tomarrow on my diet and hopefully i will start seeing some great results. I really hate going to the Dr. And being told that I'm overweight!! I never was. I gained weight during Covid and just have never lost it.

Hello Sandra, just found you, like your way of going. On this weight thing I eat according to my blood type which is A which means i dont eat meat only fish. No sweets except white wine. Lots of yogurt with honey and walnuts for evening bedtime snack most nights. I don't over eat i stay the same sz 6 for many years. I just turned 70 and not gaining and don't think I will. I believe food is over rated. I say with bad eating "eat it and wear it". jeanelle in nevada

I don’t eat sweets, I don’t eat fatty fried foods or processed foods. I’m very diligent with portions, keeping them to just enough. I hardly drink wine anymore, maybe one evening a week when I’m doing my hair treatment in the bath with music playing and it feels like pampering. But my problem is I can’t do much exercise though i ry to do dance cardio every day for 15 to 30 minutes depending on my knee. I’m waiting for a replacement and it’s so frustrating. I can’t walk anywhere as it’s so painful. I do sing in a choir though. And I know that my lungs thank me. I can’t wait till after my knee replacement which will be I hope in the next 6 months. I’m an American currently living in the UK and you have to wait for it on the NHS. But I haven’t gained and I think it’s because I’m very aware of when I feel “comfortable”. As well as the dance cardio that is “knee friendly”. I also noticed my clothes are fitting better. Not every day but most days. And I try to keep positive. My exercising time will come! I’m 64 and just want to be healthy. I congratulate you on the 13 pounds. It’s so exciting when you lose. It motivates you. Good luck!

Have you tried Grow Young Fitness. It is chair exercises to start out. Sounds a little stupid, but it works. As you progress you find you can move better and your balance gets some much better. It is done with your computer or ipad or phone. So easy and so inexpensive and it really works. I still walk twice a day because of the young dog. It all helps so much. It is also a mood levels. I also eat a whole lot of cottage cheese and apples. Try to eat organic as well. I also drink a whole lot of water. I really like the True Lemon lemonade. It helps me drink more water is very important in weight loss. I have lost 45 lbs. in a year.

Good old cottage cheese. Sometimes I add some crackers. I love salt. Make sure you get a couple of opinions regarding those tumors. Are you near a City of Hope? Or a cancer center?

My PCP told me to stop all over the counter meds, vitamins, and supplements a few days before having my thyroid tested. She said you never know where the biotin is hiding!

GIRL!! 83??? You look absolutely fabulous!! (My mom would be 83 this year, but she passed from CA at 78) Isn't it amazing what portion control can do?? Finding that "comfortable" feeling takes discipline too, but it CAN be done!! Its so worth it knowing we can eat ANYTHING, not just TOO MUCH! I have happily lost about a lb a week this last month. (I also weigh like you!). I think the word is SCARFING. Mindful eating is SO important!

I don't limit myself to anything. But I just don't eat the whole thing. Only because I find it's too much. This morning I had oatmeal. In the past I'd make a double amount. Today I could finish the single amount. So I'm just eating less but feel comfortable.
I love this way of eating, I feel free to eat what I want, which actually inspires me to make healthy choices! If I put restrictions on myself, it always backfires. I drink herb tea all the time, I add a little non dairy oat creamer (brown sugar) from Trader Joe's, and it's delicious!🍂🫖🍁

@SandraSallin I'm not picky with brands. I drink peppermint in the morning and chamomile at night. I have a cute little electric tea pot that makes it fun to prepare. A bit of creamer or honey makes a big difference 😊
