    It’ll run, Eric. It’s probably something simple like a broken wire somewhere. Seems to be plenty of compression!

      I think it's the CDI. It would not spark with the coil hooked directly to the battery. I ordered one. Fingers crossed!

    I had one of those,I got it free the guy who owned it,Gave it to me after i spent 2 days raking and spreading 3 dumptruck loads of crushed stone on his driveway..that really sucked.
    What sucked even more was,He told me to come by the house on a sunday and he would have my Pay.
    I go back...the house,the storage buildings everything was empty!
    Except the garage..in there was the cm200...no battery,no brakes,no cylinder head..and a cracked piston...he DID leave behind a sales reciept for $20.00 to me...thanks alot
    I sold the bike for $10 and an AC/DC concert ticket

    Can u help me? I’m taking off engine case covers and the valve cover box so I can clean up my 1980 CM200 for a Christmas gift for my daughter. She’s very small stature and wants to buy a motorcycle along with her other crew mates from her coast guard station. I really don’t want her to get any larger Honda than this 200. All her friends are pushing her to buy 500cc and larger new Honda’s. So, I’m polishing all the aluminum cases and got a lower aftermarket seat and I welded custom mounting holes for the early 70’s CB 125 plastic side battery and airbox covers because the1980 twinstar plastic covers are molded to fit the appearance of a laid back cruiser and I also put a lot of time replacing and painting a more level mounted new vintage style smaller gas tank. It looks great. I lowered the headlight with tube mounted headlight brackets so now the bike is actually standing level like the frame intended for the late 60’s early 70’s cb’s CT’s etc.. Honda’s. My next job is to take off the left side engine cover as I did the others for stripping factory silver paint for my buffer wheel polishing. What kind of trouble is under that points cover ? Is it a simple unbolting those “pesky Phillips style bolts” or do I have to take apart the whole charging system alternator behind the points cover? I can’t. Find an exploded diagram for left side casing disassembly. I’m wondering if I should leave the casing on and apply the paint stripper and half-ass polish it on the engine? It has me upset because I took off all the other silver factory painted casings and have then polished to a high luster near mirror finish. I can’t not polish this last casing only because I don’t want to tackle all the wires and possibly messing with the points and getting the engine out of time. So, again, if I take off the that nut on the crankshaft end, is that then just a simple step of then pulling the casing off and away from that inner plate that covers that starter chain? I hope I made sense of my question and of what my task is that I’m trying to explain. The bike already runs like it’s brand new and I don’t want to ruin such a nice running little Honda , but I’ve polished everything and if I don’t strip and polish this last case, it will stick out like a sore thumb.

    So what wires would you jump on the ignition to get spark. I have cm450 so basically same bike. The coil is good everything works all lights headlight, taillights etc etc. starter kicks over just fine just no spark. I’m stumped and would like to just hopefully jump my ignition but don’t know what wires to jump

      All of my issues were solved with the new ignition switch. Not thinking clearly in the 60 minute time frame and had a jumper wire not going to the right place. I ordered a CDI but did not need it. Check out the rest of that series. It was a lot of fun. ua-cam.com/play/PL-scC4K--fyN0IeYATvG3LfItXRUIuB4l.html

    Just for the heck of it, I'm going to throw my 2 cents in. The last time I had a no spark issue, I checked the entire wire harness for breaks and shorts. I went straight to the points, cleaned and set them, and changed out the condenser. I got spark. Went back and put the old condenser in, no spark. The problem was staring me right in the face. I put the new condenser in, sprayed some starting fluid in each cylinder, it fired right off. It might have been just dumb luck. You never know. Good luck to all.

    • @motorcyclerewind
      @motorcyclerewind  Рік тому +1

      You are so right. once I had a bad insulating washer fail between the condenser and the points. Kept grounding out. That why I am a fan of points. This guy was CDI leaves you scratching your head. It ended up just being the ignition switch.

    • @motorcyclerewind
      @motorcyclerewind  Рік тому +2

      With key on I have power on black/white wire at CDI no power coming out on black/yellow wire to coil. Ordered a new CDI should be here in a day or so. If it had points we would have made noise.

      Got the wiring all sorted out yesterday, whoever wired it before had no clue what they were doing and did a lot of weird shit. But now it sparks and all the lights and switches work as they should. Just waiting on an air filter and the clymer manual to set the points to the proper gap and timing.
