Nice fix, good info on how the jack worked and common failure points on these types of games, nice 👍😊

Another great fix. Thank you for the tips about the components that commonly fail in these types of devices.

Do you have heat proof fingers?? How can you hold a wire that you are soldering so close and not burn your fingers ?

The skin on my fingers is probably like leather now or immune to burns 😂😂😂I've burnt myself tons over the years with soldering irons 😂😂😂

Great video, I never understood why they put those power jacks in the games, I never seen anyone use them or even try to, back when I was a kid.

I had a bench power supply, my dad made. Didn't use batteries in anything. 😊

hi..i have one of these...had a right time trying to get it to work properly. if you leave it a few hours its a bleeder to get turn on but does eventually...anyway, mine has a foam pad that fits between the piezo and the front case when you close it up that you might want to try as it makes it sound a lot better. cheers dave.

Thanks Dave. I ended up replacing the piezo buzzer after I finished recording the video and put a touch of gorilla glue on it. Sounds much better now. But thanks for the tip!

I just noticed your Manic Miner video. 6031769 if i remember correctly. I also remember jetset willy. It had a colour card as protection, and I remember looking through the code at the time and worked out that if you poke 34499,201 it would bypass that :) I think I would have been about 15/16 at the time!

@@BuyitFixit Haha..it was when i was practicing a speed run on central cavern for the highest score possible..i think i managed it in the end. i was never clever enough to work out pokes lol

The 6031769 you just type on the keyboard. Then you can teleport to any level with the number keys

Hi. What would you recommend to fill a few gaps in the white lettering and target on the front of the game as mine has some gaps. Cant decide what to use to fill the gaps in. Many thanks

I'm not too sure mate, if its painted on, then perhaps model paint or such?

Cant believe i found this vid😊. Got this for xmas in about 82 but its knackered. I replaced the 330micro farad capacitor (its the one bottom left of the display module) as it had blown. Am getting voltage there but unit not turning on. Any ideas? Thanks

I cant remember the exact circuit off hand but a common failure on these types of games is the transistor near the inductor coil.
