As the son of one of the two guys that wrote this song and the soundtrack to The Last Unicorn, I'd like to say both well done and thank you. He recently passed away and I wish I had found this version sooner so that he could have enjoyed it.
"Look and see her, how she sparkles" is one of those lines where you have to commit 110 percent or you're going to sound ridiculous. Dan commits 111 percent.
Danny, you've opened Pandora's Box. This is the first time the majority of your fans have heard you sing something not steeped in comedy. Now everyone's pissing themselves and begging for more romantic ballads. Including me. It would be selfish to ask, but I'm going to anyway. Could we get a separate channel dedicated to things like this?
I know this will get lost, and that is okay, I just hope you run across it one day. I just want you both to know how much this song means to me. You released this cover not two weeks after my grandmother passed away. The Last Unicorn was one of our favorite movies to watch together when I was little. When I heard your voice singing this for the first time, I burst into tears, it made me so happy to hear the love and respect you had and I could feel it in your voice. I know that she would have loved to hear this cover! Even now I still get choked up when hearing/singing this song, but Its okay, because she is singing in heaven! This was a bit of a ramble, and I'm sorry... But dont ever stop doing your thing guys!
I choked up a bit, I'm not gonna lie. May God Daniel Sexbang see this comment of yours and rejoice to know his cover of this song has made somebody love the song and movie and book a lot more.
Fascinating isn't it. Entirely possible to go into rational reasons why this evokes such emotion. But honestly, the real reason why is because it's beautiful. Sometimes things are simply so beautiful they move you to tears.
People aren't giving Brian enough credit. I'm assuming he did the instrumentals, and probably some editing, and it's all just super fucking awesome and NSP is the fucking bomb and GAH I love them.

I love that Dan is profusely apologizing for doing something that matters to him for being offbrand. This is one of my favorite things yall have done. I love the overt sincerity of shit like this.
Jesus Christ. Danny's voice is the most soothing thing to hear. He is the most genuinely sweet person even when screwing around with his friends. I can't even express how nice he is.
Peter Beagle got the rights to his work back!! A live action and a musical version of TLU are in the works as well as another book set in the universe!!! I hope beyond hope that Dan gets to be a part of this project. His love is so pure, and his singing is truly unmatched, I can’t think of anyone that deserves this renaissance more than mr sexbang
Came here from Saberspark’s Twitch stream of the movie. When it was over they put on Dan’s cover of this song ❤ I’m glad so many still appreciate this cover as much as I do. Beautiful!
This was one of my wife's favorite movies growing up, and when I showed this to her, she legitimately teared up, and wanted to thank you for doing something so awesome for one of her favorite animated movies! Thanks so much!
I FINALLY FLIPPING FOUND IT!! For real, I thought this film was a fever dream I'd mistaken as a childhood memory bc nobody knew what I meant when I talked about the "the film with the talking horse who becomes a girl and theres a magician and some nightmare fuel and memory loss and the horses are the sea at the end". Somehow my brain latched onto a few select scenes like the sick-looking boy loving her as a human and that horrific bird and some sort of montage scene where the magician is juggling and a cat takes one of the balls...either way, the point is I was really young when we had this vhs and as a result I somehow forgot that the main character was specifically a unicorn and its kept me from finding this incredible piece of my early childhood for YEARS until right now! Seeing those clips and hearing that music was like someone burst a bag of nostalgia confetti over my head, dear lord I now know what I'm doing for the rest of the evening!
I would have known immediately what you were talking about. This is one of my all time favorite films. It may even be #1. I have everything about it memorized. It helped me deal with a lot of stuff when I was little. I only wish I would have been able to see it in a theatre.
@@alistair4909 I saw it on VHS when I was little. We rented it from our local video store. Then we recorded it when it played on I believe HBO. I wore that tape out. Peter S. Beagle went on tour a few years back with the film as it showed in select theatres and talked with fans and signed autographs. My goal/wish was to get the Last Unicorn pushing the Red Bull into the sea tattooed on my thigh and then have him autograph under it. Then, just afterwards, I was going to go and get his signature tattooed over, so it was permanently there, as well as her. I just never had the money to do so. I still want to get the tattoo and someday I swear I'll get the money saved up to do so. When I say this film got me through some difficult times as a child, I am super serious. I'm crying just typing this. But I'm highly emotional anyway. I can't help it.
I know how that feels. The same thing happened to me with The Secret of NIMH until I finally saw it in middle school. I saw Unicorn as an teenager but somehow misremembered the unicorn as dying at the end. I thought it was meant as a tragedy. Finally a few years ago I saw it again, even though I was certain I wouldn't like it much, as I didn't understand the point of her tragic death. Then I saw the whole movie for what it really was, and it's been high on my list of favorites ever since. Looking back, I think the reason I remembered it wrong is because I saw it at my friend's house and we all had to leave to go somewhere halfway through the movie, so I didn't see past the part where she was turned human after the Red Bull attacked her, so my in my memory I just assumed that was the end of it.
Im totally ok with all remakes.. most suck, but then you just watch the original. However, when they make it good, then you have another choice for some of your favorite story lines.
best part is for me and a few other dudes i know, even as a full grown man i cry with this shit. At least we know exactly how secure we are in our manly ways that we are able to cry at majestic AF shit. This movie here is a heart tugging masterpiece and everyone should at least know about it!
A beautiful song for a beautifully-animated movie by people who would later be part of Studio Ghibli. How fitting. Oh, and this cover is great. It captures the eerieness very well.
Oh hey Lucah. I can't be sure if something on the Last Unicorn would be silly enough for a "My Balls" montage on the main channel, or calm enough for a Relaxijin video.
Jesus look at these comments, everyone is in tears thanking Dan. I fell in love with this film because of him and the book reinvigorated my love for literature, but he's done more than that. He's made me feel like I matter and that dreams are important and that every single person is capable of being anything even if they come from nothing. Still pranking on hiring NSP for a venue lol would pay hundreds of thousands to see my fiance as our skiing comes on
Yesterday I discovered that the movie The Last Unicorn is free on YT, which I grew up with and hadn't seen in years. This movie was actually one of the few bright spots in my life as a child. I listened to the soundtrack earlier and was in tears listening. I'm drawing a bit from this movie and book for inspiration for my bard in an upcoming D&D campaign, and if the DM allows I might even get to sing Man's Road. I'm glad that others love this movie as much as I do.
@@TheREALSimagination Often times, the instrumental parts of the song are being played through the headphones to help the singer get the timing down pat.
God I own this movie and I watched it all the time when I was a kid. It's surprisingly really...dark? Like she gets turned into a human and her first reaction is "oh god so this is mortality-- this body is dying all around me- being taken by the Red Bull would have been better than this --my psyche is quickly being overcome by this human consciousness ahsfhalsfha" like Lord. Then she gets turned back and she's like "never has there been a unicorn who could regret, but i am not like that anymore because i have experienced what it is like to be mortal , and so some part of my soul remains mortal, and so I can experience regret...and love" LIKE are all unicorns sociopaths? that's some deep shit right there.
Sarf That's what's so wonderful about the story. It isn't until she becomes immortal again that she appreciates the tragedy of both mortality and immortality. It's beautiful.
I was privileged to meet Peter S Beagle years ago at a screening of the last unicorn. Growing up the movie in the book were warm retreats of reprieve and inspiration. This brought me to tears. 5 years ago and still potent. Just as the material was gleaned from. Supremely grateful. Thank you, Dan.
I want a remake, faithful to the original keeping everything that made this movie so wonderful and improving upon it, with AAA Disney 3D Animation budget, starring Aurora Aknes as the unicorn, and Dan Avidan as the prince. Them singing together would be wonderful, and Dan already has an amazing cover of this song. I’m willing this into the universe, please make it happen!
When the last eagle flies Over the last crumbling mountain And the last lion roars At the last dusty fountain In the shadow of the forest Though she may be old and worn They will stare unbelieving At the Last Unicorn When the first breath of winter Through the flowers is icing And you look to the north Where the pale moon is rising And it seems like all is dying And would leave the world to mourn In the distance hear the laughter Of the Last Unicorn I'm alive, I'm alive When the last moon is cast Over the last star of morning And the future has passed Without even a last desparate warning Then look into the sky where through Through the clouds a path is torn Look and see her how she sparkles It's the Last Unicorn I'm alive, I'm alive
They really just don’t make ANYTHING like any of that anymore. It’s all just cookie-cutter 3D made TRASH. Disney hasn’t made a fucking 2D animated ANYTHING since 2012 with Princess and the Frog. Just let that fact sink in.
I know this is an old comment, but The Dark Crystal was one of my favs as well. My Dad took my sisters and I to see it in the theater. We saw The Last Unicorn there too. Just recently watched the Dark Crystal that was on Netflix, and I think my Dad would have loved it as much as I did.
my favorite thing Danny and Arin ever said on GG, was when they were playing breath of the wild. Arin commented on his beautiful voice Danny replied with "it's not my voice that's beautiful, i actually sing terribly , i don't know why people enjoy it to be honest". and Arin said something along the line that it's his beautiful soul we love.
Arin is the best friend that we all need, that's what I love about him, he pushes Danny further vice or versa The game grumps are my favorite people let alone my favorite entertainer's
(I already know about Skyhill, but it's just... Different.) I wish Danny'd do more serious songs. You can't exactly show your parents a bunch of demons singing about cookies, when you're trying to let them know how awesome Danny's voice is.
Its taken me this long to make this comment, but I think I'm in a good enough spot I can do so without crying. First you need to know that The Last Unicorn was a favorite movie of my brother, and we both loved this song growing up. My brother made your version his ringtone, and I heard it while I was hanging out with him during the last months of his cancer battle. Ive been a fan of NSP for a long time, and was of course excited to hear it. My brother was unaware of all of the music you guys had created, so I was able to have one more bonding moment with him showing off all your videos and songs. Thank you for giving me one more special moment with my brother before cancer took him away. This song is beautiful, you guys are awesome and I'll always be a little in your debt. Thank you again!
I'm so glad that someone else likes this book and movie. I always have and people always called me immature for it because I'm 16 and I like a movie about a unicorn
Emiko Chauhan honestly as someone who is, for one a male, And for two a teenager. This movie is amazing, and it's not extremely kid friendly. I remember being absolutely terrified for weeks after I first saw it. I think that it's a severely underrated movie ( I can't include book because I've never read it. I didn't even know it was a book until now and know I have to read it.) and I haven't had the opportunity to see it for a few years. Know I'm going to call my sister and ask if she still has it.
Mainly because they probably thinks it's some My Little Pony stuff. TLU is pretty complex and inverts a lot of fantasy stereotypes, but most people don't give it a chance as they hear something about unicorns and their minds shut down and go for the nearest assumption ie girly and kid friendly.
EvilCleric Unicorns are so badass. Early writings depict them as fierce and savage beasts never to be approached for any reason. There is old artwork of unicorns fighting lions in single combat. And have you seen the unicorn in Final Fantasy?! Thing's a beast! Originally, unicorns were described as monsters, but over time they became associated with purity, innocence, and virginity. Bleh. Unicorns are some of the wildest motherfuckers out there!
My mother took me to a drive-in theater almost 40 years ago when I was 4 years old and we saw The Last Unicorn. I have loved and have been a great fan of that movie ever since. I wasn't much into reading until I entered high school so I didn't even know that the movie came from a book until later. Once I found that book I snatched it right up, and I have read it multiple times. I love it too.
I always thought the chorus was saying "I'm the last" but I just recently learned it is saying "I'm alive" really changes the whole feeling from solemn sadness to brave hope.
Danny if you ever see this comment, I think I can say for everyone here that we are 100% okay with whatever path you take in music. You have a beautiful voice and we would all be thrilled to listen to any of your music any time.
You should make it a double feature with the animated Hobbit movie. Rankin Bass’s animated fantasy movies were overlooked animated treasures, and they deserve to be seen by as many people as possible. *EDITED:* Skip the Rankin/Bass Return of the King movie, it tried to turn the epic final book in the trilogy into a 79 minute made for tv film that tried to make it more like The Hobbit book.

I watched the movie literally decades ago. I'm now into my fourth decade, and I remember watching Last Unicorn (and loving it) when I was a child. As a second note, Dan Avidan has a freaking gorgeous voice when he sings seriously, this and Starlight Brigade are just gorgeous. GORGEOUS.
I love all of Danny's covers, he has a beautiful voice, but this has to be my favorite vocal of his singing voice EVER. He puts so much emotion in it, because it means so much to him. His voice is so enchantingly haunting in such an awesome way.
This isn't my first time listening to this cover and it making me tear up. Danny's voice is so literally perfect for this kind of song. You can HEAR the passion in his voice. One of my favorite books. One of my favorite movies for as long as I can remember. It always means a lot to me when I see other people who also loved it like I did, because it's not the most high profile thing out there.
I will always love this movie and this song gives me chills. I adore every episode of grumps when he wears one of the shirts. This movie is so beautiful and keeps very closely to the book which is even cooler!
As much as I love Danny (and I do love Danny) I feel like Brian is going a little underpraised, probably because his role calls for him to be in the limelight less. So Brian you're super awesome and also pls don't kill me
Ninja Brian woah theoretical physics and string theory? You are a more learned man than I'll ever be, and I don't think your ninja persona does you justice. You're a god damn Wizard, Brian! Seriously, mad props to you, you make fantastic music with Dan, and deserve only good health and happiness. Rock on.
Wow, to bad i just saw this. Im old. 71, but i remember reading this book many times. The movie always made me cry. It came out at a painful time. I loved singing "im alive," . At the time just sayng those words helpe d. A couple yeabrs later i was living with a friend. Her daughter was having a rough time with divorce of parents. I played the movie for her and she fell in love too. Glad to know mr beagle is getting paid. Hes great! Very possible my favorits book ever
My grandmother had passed away 7 years ago to this day. She read the last unicorn to me when I was a child, and we watched the movie every summer. After the funeral, I had found that NSP had released this cover and I finally felt like I was able to allow myself to feel. I know how much Danny loves Granny, and I hope all is still well with her as I have not kept up with Gamegrumps in years. But this cover has been giving me comfort since this is the 7th anniversary of her death and I still miss her.
Y'know, we should thank Arin (or however hired him to be on Game Grumps) for making his audience grow. People adore him now and he wouldn't be here. YOU GUYS MADE HIM ONE OF THE MOST LOVED PEOPLE ON THE PLANET. Thanks, seriously. I would have never found this angel among men.
Broanator119 you make it sound like Game Grumps is the only reason he's where he is right now, I knew about Ninja sex party before Game Grumps, and I bet you he would still have around the same amount of Fame if he wasn't in gamegrumps. It's pretty hard to hear this voice and not take notice
I too would've never even known about Dan and his gorgeous voice and beautiful personality if it wasn't for Game Grumps, and I only found out about Game Grumps when Breath of the Wild was released. Looking back now I wonder how I ever lived without all of this.
I wore out at least 4 VHS tapes of The Last Unicorn before I was 5. It was a great comfort for a little girl laying in a hospital bed for nearly a month. You did this song justice in all its glory. Thank you!
I never considered anyone my "hero" until I found Danny. Intriguing Storyteller, Hilarious Comedian, Great Advice Giver, Amazing Musician, Morals I would be proud to uphold. Danny is my hero, and I strive to be like him. Whenever I'm feeling down, I always try to remind myself. My mom loves me, so who the fuck else matters.
Danny Sexbang, I love you. Youre the only man I know who not only has a Unicorn as his favorite animal but also has the balls to admit it with pride. You re so much more of a man than all those beef cakes who think its gay to cry. I love you Danny. You keep being a real man and inspiring me okey? :,)
I'm legitimately crying, i'm so touched by this. This movie got me through a lot of my childhood, and led me to be the person I am today, who believes in the magic in everything. It's this movie that made me admire the beauty in nature and revere learning about things I don't understand. And it's the singer, Mr. Danny Sex Bang himself, who's given me the energy to smile through my teenage years. Seeing him sing this just melted my heart and though I'm too late to support this movement, I'm glad I get to see the aftermath.
The UnorthodoxDream I honestly didn’t know whether anyone felt as strongly about the novel and movie as my Brother and I do until subscribing to the Game Grumps introduced me to Danny! 💚😭😭💚
My god, that is such a beautiful rendition... I've listened to this nearly 14 to 15 times on loop, and more than that overall. I've always loved the theme of The Last Unicorn, and even with some of the more... Awkward scenes... [cough cough- tree-- cough cough] I absolutely loved that movie. This actually got me to see the movie when this song was initially released. So amazing.

I have watched the game grumps for a while now and figured it was time to check out their songs and colabs this way. Saw this and was like "man.. I remember that movie as creepy as it was. But he gunna sing an epic song like that?" No joke I got into it 20 seconds and my mouth dropped. Dude that was epic and I absolutely LOVED it! Really a great song.
When my husband found out that Iove The Last Unicorn growing and to this day I still do. He played my this version and I cried it this movie reminded my of some very happy memories growing up and he ended up getting me the book as well so that I could read it over and over again. This is such a beautiful song and it makes me so happy that Danny sang this song. Thank you Danny for doing this for all of us.
This. This is why Dan Aidan is one of the greatest youtuber out there. This is why he's loved by so many. This... was is a thing of beauty. Going on my lullaby playlist immediately
whoa you know something is bad with a commmunity when a content creator has to ask permission to do a cover.. Keep on rocking Danny!! Amazing as always
Jason Orozco You can tell from the way they chose to appear distinctively out of character in this that they're kind of scared of the NSP community rejecting this. They have a pretty good reason. Last time Egoraptor posted a different kind of video on his channel he was crucified. I think that's kind of what Don was getting at.
The Zigzagman I believe they appeared out of character to separate the Ninja Sex Party name with this e for everyone song, even though its still on the NSP channel. I think the nsp community is a whole lot more forgiving in that they trully like Danny and Brian because theyre just sweethearts and not just because of their content. Just my opinion.
And you know a content creator is fucking amazing when he takes the time to explain to the retarded part of his community so they don't go on a stupid commenting spree
A part of me hopes that if Dan ever gets married, he and his significant other will sing a cover of "That's All I've Got To Say" at their wedding But in all seriousness, this movie was one of my favorites as a kid and finding this cover done by one of my favorite comedians was honestly such a pleasant surprise, so thank you Dan and Brian for making this!
I was hoping this day would come. Don't get me wrong I love NSP but i was hoping for a long time to hear an original song or atleast a cover (like this) of a regular song or something clean, purely because Dan has a beautiful voice and I always wanted to hear it in something more sensible!
Getting to watch Dan sing something so meaningful to him is a truly magical experience. It really comes through just how much he loves everything about the song, the book, the movie- everything.
Dan's voice gives me chills.
lol
Mark!
Ninja Sex Party... My friend was talking to me about this band
Slurp...
Lol
They should do an album of cover songs and call it NSP- Under the Covers.
This comment... It needs to be top comment.
Amazing idea btw!
This needs to happen!

I love the randomness a second channel is not needed and I don't think that's what dan has planned for his musical career

Aren't they all?
We couldnt handle the majesty for any longer than what he gives us
Dan ik your happy asf holy shit
i honestly can't believe it's been close to 5 years since this glorious thing was released. Thanks Dan.
Dude I actually saw Dan at the showing of the movie with my brother, he is tall af and just so amazing he loved my ocarina
This song you do still gives me goosebumps!
I cant belive its been 5 years since than
I cant believe this is real!!!!!
I I love
I love that Dan is profusely apologizing for doing something that matters to him for being offbrand. This is one of my favorite things yall have done. I love the overt sincerity of shit like this.
Jesus Danny is so underrated... He's so fucking amazing
He has the voice of an angel its beautiful.
IKR!!!!!😲
Meldy-Arts just so you know, 5M people is still not enough
Danny makes everyone question their sexual orientation, his voice is just, omg
And as you all know, Danny wasn't sexy enough, so he was ascended to Jesus Danny.
Jesus Christ. Danny's voice is the most soothing thing to hear. He is the most genuinely sweet person even when screwing around with his friends. I can't even express how nice he is.
Crazy Chocolate Monkey And you go Brian, you work that keyboard like nobody's business. Seriously, you are amazing with that thing.
I fall asleep to this song because his voice is so smooth, soft and calm
I couldn't agree more. They are both soooo impossibly talented :)
If you haven't already, y'all should look up his bands Northern Hues and Skyhill because they're both super chill and show off his voice well
+KiwiBumbleBee Skyhill is my favourite band by now, it's such a shame they only put out one album :c
Holy shit a live-action movie AND a musical?? I might actually cry this was my dream as a child😭
Came here from Saberspark’s Twitch stream of the movie. When it was over they put on Dan’s cover of this song ❤ I’m glad so many still appreciate this cover as much as I do. Beautiful!
The "I'm alive" parts really make me tear up
me too... me too...
+Miguel Vargas sir, that was brilliant
+EternaMidnight Right? You can really see the passion he has for singing in those parts.
+EternaMidnight I get chills when I hear that part
+EternaMidnight I tear up as soon as I hear the beginning notes of the music. At this point I'm pretty sure it's a Pavlovian reflex.
This was one of my wife's favorite movies growing up, and when I showed this to her, she legitimately teared up, and wanted to thank you for doing something so awesome for one of her favorite animated movies! Thanks so much!
:)
I wish I knew at least someone I could show this to and make them feel that way.
Fancy seeing my favourite game analyst on a video by one of my fave singers/game grumps singing an amazing cover of an amazing song
Gnoggin I didn't want to admit it, but I did too.
THE LAST UNICORN
I almost cried too
Fun fact: if this isn't your favorite song, you're wrong.
Is Starlight Brigade an acceptable alternative?
@@Mushroom-Stew I think any song that is sung by Dan is an acceptable alternative, his voice is so relaxing
Not wrong. Just have different taste and that's okay. Dan either way sings this song great! :)
Facts
Hi there! I’m here in Oklahoma.
Seeing those clips and hearing that music was like someone burst a bag of nostalgia confetti over my head, dear lord
I now know what I'm doing for the rest of the evening!
You describe my experience lolol
I would have known immediately what you were talking about. This is one of my all time favorite films. It may even be #1. I have everything about it memorized. It helped me deal with a lot of stuff when I was little. I only wish I would have been able to see it in a theatre.
@@mermaid_at_heart213 same I wasn’t even born until long after it was in theaters but enjoying it on Blu-ray at home ain’t half bad
They should remake the last unicorn, live action, with Danny playing Schmendrick the magician.
No. Hollywood today would only fuck it up.
PRIC3LESSMPB They are remaking it as a live action version. I went to one of the tour showings and they announced it
YOU BRILLIANT WONDROUS BEING.
Screw that, make him the unicorn Lol
Im totally ok with all remakes.. most suck, but then you just watch the original. However, when they make it good, then you have another choice for some of your favorite story lines.
Chills? Check. Tears? Check. Childhood made even better? Check.
Hotel? Trivago
Definitely
And I only have vague memories of the movie
best part is for me and a few other dudes i know, even as a full grown man i cry with this shit. At least we know exactly how secure we are in our manly ways that we are able to cry at majestic AF shit. This movie here is a heart tugging masterpiece and everyone should at least know about it!
That moment when Dan is so good at singing he can harmonize with himself
Ummmm you should be able to harmonize with yourself....
A beautiful song for a beautifully-animated movie by people who would later be part of Studio Ghibli. How fitting.
Oh, and this cover is great. It captures the eerieness very well.
My Favourite movie and Grump!
Oh hey Lucah. I can't be sure if something on the Last Unicorn would be silly enough for a "My Balls" montage on the main channel, or calm enough for a Relaxijin video.
Lucah!!!!!!!
Arin's gonna be jealous...
hi lucah could you tell me what this movie is about? I've never heard of it before
Guest Grumps starring Lucah? This has to happen.
this was uploaded 7 days before my father died. he loved this movie and the band who sang it. this video means so much to me
I'm sorry for your loss, but if you think about it this is a hell of a coincidence don't you think?
Ironic. Condolences
im sorry
My deepest condolences to you.
+rachel zucker thanks for the tears i actually started crying and my mom shouted at me...
Did anybody else notice that he was singing the other parts without headphones on? I have no words
it means so much to him that he knows every part of the song by heart
@Jim Lassiter Please do not turn this moment into some petty spat.
Why DO they have headphones on? Noise reduction? Concentration? Is their voice looped back from the microphone?
@@TheREALSimagination Often times, the instrumental parts of the song are being played through the headphones to help the singer get the timing down pat.
hahaha i think dany knows this song key for key
Sarf Have you seen Season 2 Episode 15 of Gravity Falls? Those unicorns, man.
Smiley Devil yeah boi
Sarf That's what's so wonderful about the story. It isn't until she becomes immortal again that she appreciates the tragedy of both mortality and immortality. It's beautiful.
Sarf You wanna talk dark animated family movies, look up Watership Down.
book's better when it comes to Watership Down
I was privileged to meet Peter S Beagle years ago at a screening of the last unicorn. Growing up the movie in the book were warm retreats of reprieve and inspiration. This brought me to tears. 5 years ago and still potent. Just as the material was gleaned from. Supremely grateful. Thank you, Dan.
was it the screening dan was talking about?
@@McGusder Yes indeedy!
I'm a self proclaimed "good singer", but I would kill a man to sing as good as Dan
If you're a good singer, you're probably better then Dan.
Such edge. Very insult for no reason. Wow.
+Júlíus Máni Sigurðsson What an odd thing to say
+Brutus the Pug Make the man Ross, and many grump fans will pitch in money for vocal coaching for you.
I know that feel bro. Come here, let's hug and share our frustration while we eat tons of ice cream
i dont know whats more majestic, the unicorn or danny
What's the difference?
I guess the only difference is the unicorn has its horn on its head cx
Jack Barnhart danny has a horn... but not on his head ;)
Definitely better ;)
XD not at all my friend. not at all
When the last eagle flies
Over the last crumbling mountain
And the last lion roars
At the last dusty fountain
In the shadow of the forest
Though she may be old and worn
They will stare unbelieving
At the Last Unicorn
When the first breath of winter
Through the flowers is icing
And you look to the north
Where the pale moon is rising
And it seems like all is dying
And would leave the world to mourn
In the distance hear the laughter
Of the Last Unicorn
I'm alive, I'm alive
When the last moon is cast
Over the last star of morning
And the future has passed
Without even a last desparate warning
Then look into the sky where through
Through the clouds a path is torn
Look and see her how she sparkles
It's the Last Unicorn
I'm alive, I'm alive
Thank you darling.
This movie and The Dark Crystal and The Secret of NIMH. My childhood. Aaahhhhhh! Beautiful rendition! Thank you! 🥰🌺🦄
Arin commented on his beautiful voice Danny replied with "it's not my voice that's beautiful,
i actually sing terribly , i don't know why people enjoy it to be honest". and Arin said something
along the line that it's his beautiful soul we love.
I was not supposed to get the feels
I demand the episode
I’m gonna need that episode number.
Arin is the best friend that we all need, that's what I love about him, he pushes Danny further vice or versa
The game grumps are my favorite people let alone my favorite entertainer's
(I already know about Skyhill, but it's just... Different.)
I wish Danny'd do more serious songs. You can't exactly show your parents a bunch of demons singing about cookies, when you're trying to let them know how awesome Danny's voice is.
Danny said in game grumps that him and Brian are planning to do cover songs as this one was so popular
This is a serious song, but it's about a unicorn.
He did, its called skyhill
Yeah, but the music is louder than his voice in, unfortunately, EVERY song.
There's also another band he was in before sky hill called the northern hues Danny does a fantastic job in that band as well
Never apologize for this kind of thing, Dan. Not when five years later, we’re still rocking out.
I am very sorry for your loss! I'm happy you and your brother got to share something special before he passed.
I actually cried.
GODDAMNIT DAN!!!!!!!!!!!
Doesn't have as good of a ring to it as 'goddammit Ross' tbh.
+Junko Enoshima, Ultimate Despair Lol lets just blame Ross anyway. "This cover made me cry... somehow it's still Ross's fault. GODDAMNIT ROSS."
Clarestovold Blame everything on Ross. It's always Ross. Earthquake? Blame Ross. Terrorist attack? Dammit ross! The universe ending? It was allllllllllllll Ross!
+Junko Enoshima, Ultimate Despair "GOD ROSS, YOU FUCKED UP. WHAT ARE WE GONNA DOOOOOOOO!? EVERYONE'S GONNA LOSE THEIR JOBS!" :')
Clarestovold I will take the bullet on this one...
I'm so glad that someone else likes this book and movie. I always have and people always called me immature for it because I'm 16 and I like a movie about a unicorn
Emiko Chauhan dude, it's a childhood classic.
Emiko Chauhan honestly as someone who is, for one a male,
And for two a teenager.
My mom loves unicorns and she's almost 50
catch me in 2015 having this on repeat for an entire year. i still come back to listen to his angelic voice
I always thought the chorus was saying "I'm the last" but I just recently learned it is saying "I'm alive" really changes the whole feeling from solemn sadness to brave hope.
jman Damn I just got goose bumps.
She doesn't know she's the last, it's not until the Red Bull that she learns
Danny if you ever see this comment, I think I can say for everyone here that we are 100% okay with whatever path you take in music. You have a beautiful voice and we would all be thrilled to listen to any of your music any time.
Damn right
ANAL K POP
I told my boyfriend about "The Last Unicorn"...and when he told me he never watched it...i forced himmmm.
GOOD ON YOU!! CULTURE HIM!!!
Have a taco
How can I watch the last unicorn I wanna see it it looks so cool
himm is spelled with just 2 m
I did not expect to be so emotionally impacted by that.

Won't let you read more..
I love Dannys hair it makes him look like a beautiful lion
He's a gorgeous manticore.
"look like"
He is a beautiful lion
The lion and the unicorn...
It reminds me more of a griffon for some reason.
I have no idea how a man can have such a versatile voice. Classical, jazz, rock, pop, this man sings it all.
GORGEOUS.
I love how they showed all the different layers of song danny sang. this is a beautiful song
Post editing X3
It's crazy impressive that he's singing all the parts. I'm always amazed at people who can do that.
HamatoKameko same
+HamatoKameko Reminds me of Smooth McGroove's a capellas.
youtube junkie are you in tumblr I think I follow you
I love all of Danny's covers, he has a beautiful voice, but this has to be my favorite vocal of his singing voice EVER. He puts so much emotion in it, because it means so much to him. His voice is so enchantingly haunting in such an awesome way.
Right?
You can really tell how much he loves it.
same and he puts heart into it
"enchantingly haunting" yeah, perfectly put
honestly, the way he sings 'im alive' is fucking powerful and gives me shivers every time
This movie always made me cry as a kid. The only one that ever did. One of my favorite movies ever, this song is haunting.
185 people are not unicorns.
No, but seriously who in their right mind would dislike this work of art?
124Nightwing The Red Bull and the harpy?
Asura Mommy Fortuna?
The weird hunchback dude?
King Haggard?
Skeleton?
(Possibly) The Pirate Cat?
MC DawnFox Don't forget Captain Cully.
King Haggard probably created multiple accounts so he could _like_ it multiple times.
Asura
True, true...
It's amazing what we can do with accounts these daiz XD
124Nightwing Maybe they're easily offended Astronomers who had a problem with 2:25
There's something about how Dan looks after he's stopped singing just before each video fades; He's putting his all into this and looks super sad
This is absolutely lovely! I don’t know how I missed it all this time
This isn't my first time listening to this cover and it making me tear up. Danny's voice is so literally perfect for this kind of song. You can HEAR the passion in his voice. One of my favorite books. One of my favorite movies for as long as I can remember. It always means a lot to me when I see other people who also loved it like I did, because it's not the most high profile thing out there.
Can't believe this is almost two years old already.
Shivers ALL over my body.
now its over 3 years old, jesus, time flies
say what you will about Dan, but hot damn does he bring the fire when he sings!
Danny is my absolute favorite artist, in any way, shape or form. I just can't fathom that he's 37 years old, he's frickin 20 years older than I am.
+Nova Gardner holy fuck he's exactly 20 years older than me too??? I legit thought he was in his 20s????
He's bringing that hot fire!
God, I can't believe this has been out 9 years already. This is one of my favorite cover songs of all time.
So Brian you're super awesome and also pls don't kill me
Well, may I just say, he is an astounding physics professor and scientist in general, and The Story Collider is a great podcast.
Wait, Brian has a podcast??
Alex Mathis
Well, he's one of several creators and participants in it.
Here's a link to his page on the site.
storycollider.org/podcast/2010-11-28
It's cool, dawg.
Rock on.
Danny danny Dan , do more covers like this , emotional ones or etc , they are beautiful and you have a fucking awesome voice ❤️
I second this motion.
All in favor say aye.
Aye! So much aye!
Aye
I wouldn't ask him to focus on it, but an occasional cover would be very welcome.
I wouldn't say that, I mean his first video got 1000 views.
For a first video in 2009 it's pretty damn impressive.
Buber Marcus Game Grumps definitely helped a ton. I wouldnt know about him otherwise.
Ross is the one who showed Arin NSP. who then wanted to do things with them.
I too would've never even known about Dan and his gorgeous voice and beautiful personality if it wasn't for Game Grumps, and I only found out about Game Grumps when Breath of the Wild was released. Looking back now I wonder how I ever lived without all of this.
I wish I had vocal chords like Danny, this man has so much range it kills me.
Some of us are mute. At least you can sing, and I'm sure you can find the genre your voice is good for.
Practice will bless you with skills like him.
I still listen to this whenever I want to feel a very particular kind of good.
I wore out at least 4 VHS tapes of The Last Unicorn before I was 5. It was a great comfort for a little girl laying in a hospital bed for nearly a month. You did this song justice in all its glory. Thank you!
Why am I just now seeing this?! The Last Unicorn is an amazing piece of literature and the film was gorgeous. I freaking LOVE this...
I never considered anyone my "hero" until I found Danny. Intriguing
Storyteller, Hilarious Comedian, Great Advice Giver, Amazing Musician,
Morals I would be proud to uphold. Danny is my hero, and I strive to be
like him. Whenever I'm feeling down, I always try to remind myself.
My mom loves me, so who the fuck else matters.
Coming back to this song after many years, its truly beautiful how Dan and Brian remastered this song!
I just got through a very negative relationship and for years this song gave me strength. Thank You!
Ailions this is so wholesome
Ailions awwww
I'm legitimately crying, i'm so touched by this. This movie got me through a lot of my childhood, and led me to be the person I am today, who believes in the magic in everything. It's this movie that made me admire the beauty in nature and revere learning about things I don't understand. And it's the singer, Mr. Danny Sex Bang himself, who's given me the energy to smile through my teenage years. Seeing him sing this just melted my heart and though I'm too late to support this movement, I'm glad I get to see the aftermath.
Likewise, and thank you! ❤
The UnorthodoxDream I honestly didn’t know whether anyone felt as strongly about the novel and movie as my Brother and I do until subscribing to the Game Grumps introduced me to Danny!
💚😭😭💚
Just watched this movie after not seeing it for 35 years. Definitely made me tear up as do the songs and as does the ending of the movie.
My god, that is such a beautiful rendition... I've listened to this nearly 14 to 15 times on loop,
and more than that overall. I've always loved the theme of The Last Unicorn, and even with
some of the more... Awkward scenes... [cough cough- tree-- cough cough] I absolutely loved
that movie. This actually got me to see the movie when this song was initially released. So amazing.
"Check the description for a link to download the song for free" *checks description, sees nothing. cry, listen to song again free on youtube anyway*
Same ;-;
*bursts into tears*
Dan and Brian released it on one of their "Under the Covers" cover albums. I highly, highly recommend them!!
@@sorayaprotera Still having to buy an album as opposed to a free download is a hell of a downgrade. Guess the money was a little too tempting.
ytmp3.eu/?autocomplete=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DbPq8VT7fx1E Try this clusterfuck of a link... i mean he said it was free, right? Knowing Dan, dude mighta forgot to drop the link
Just because an artist focuses on comedy, doesn't mean they aren't skilled. To be honest, I fall into that trap sometimes myself.
Always get bloody chills up my spine hearing this, even years after hearing it the first time.

Krom bob Burn that fedora!
CMDanaher *fedora tipping intensifies*
ghostboy963 too late, the fedora genocide is just another part of history now
CMDanaher"And so sayeth on the darkest day when the fedora eclipsed the very sun, man... well, "man-man" were no more!"
Such harmony...my tears, how they sparkle.
Just like the Lady Amuothia's! (I only know how Smendric said their names so fuck knows how to actually spell it...Phonetics)
Its spelled Amalthea, and it's actually of Greek origin! Loved this movie as a child, and she was one of my favorite characters in fiction. :D
Amalthea :D
it's the laST UNICOOORRRN.... ALIIIIIIIIIIIIIVVVE ALIIIIIIIVE
+Magic Movies Gaming please if u do that atleast get the lyrics correct.
Such a beautiful yet oddly haunting song. To me the last unicorn in the song represents the last bit of hope everyone carries inside them.
Dan you did a great job singing this beautiful song. This movie has always keep me going. 😁😍😍
Also can't believe it took me over 5 years to realize that you did that.
whoa you know something is bad with a commmunity when a content creator has to ask permission to do a cover.. Keep on rocking Danny!! Amazing as always
How did he ask permission? He explained the situation.
The Zigzagman
I believe they appeared out of character to separate the Ninja Sex Party name with this e for everyone song, even though its still on the NSP channel. I think the nsp community is a whole lot more forgiving in that they trully like Danny and Brian because theyre just sweethearts and not just because of their content. Just my opinion.
The Zigzagman What Egoraptor video are you talking about? I can't recall.
And you know a content creator is fucking amazing when he takes the time to explain to the retarded part of his community so they don't go on a stupid commenting spree
Danny, your voice makes everything better :3
***** Agreed.
Bloodthirsty_Maniac_Senpai as in a majestic eagle of fucking
Harmonize with me, maggot!
KaitoKenny aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh
By better do you mean make the world a brighter place?
'Cause boyo if you're doggin' on America rn I'm gonna be one sad fella
My absolutely favorite movie. The movie became my escape from a rough childhood. Relaxing.
A part of me hopes that if Dan ever gets married, he and his significant other will sing a cover of "That's All I've Got To Say" at their wedding
But in all seriousness, this movie was one of my favorites as a kid and finding this cover done by one of my favorite comedians was honestly such a pleasant surprise, so thank you Dan and Brian for making this!
I was hoping this day would come. Don't get me wrong I love NSP but i was hoping for a long time to hear an original song or atleast a cover (like this) of a regular song or something clean, purely because Dan has a beautiful voice and I always wanted to hear it in something more sensible!
Look up Skyhill, it was Dan's pre-NSP band
There is also the northern hues, Danny's pre-pre-NSP band
also check out Ratatat and Backside
And check out Quad City DJ's, Dan's first rap group.
I've been the same way. Comedy is fun and all, but it's a bit of a waste not to hear him do something serious.
dan is pretty hot
+Anna Letson I would absolutely destroy him.
So Many Poops how do you mean
+So Many Poops thanks for sharing 👍
+Anna Letson He maintains his eyebrows better than I do.
+Anna Letson you did ask
Getting to watch Dan sing something so meaningful to him is a truly magical experience. It really comes through just how much he loves everything about the song, the book, the movie- everything.
I love this movie when I was a kid and I still love it to this day I own it on DVD Dan you are moving me to tears with your voice
