I've had the Bowie since just after it came out. The first thing I did was make a para-cord neck carry with a single hole plunger style toggle (because the original one seems cheap and untrustworthy). I used the Fire-Cord para-cord. If you keep one side of the p-c shorter than the other it functions as a safety release. The second thing I did was to get rid of that crappy little lanyard and braided my own with some slightly larger (but still small) reflective cord. It has a better grip on the end than the original. Lastly I put a small ferro-rod on the front that is sleeved in hollowed para-cord. I'm going to switch the Ferro-rod and the necklace to my Drop Point ASA it arrives and put the Bowie on the shoulder strap of my day pack.
I am glad I took the time to watch your video because you covered the issue of the sheaths. I purchased the minimalist bowie style with those green colored micarta handles. The sheath is shaped for the tanto recurved model and it did not hold the knife. I called CRKT and they told me the sheaths were the same, but still sent me another one which worked better, but I felt that they should have made blade specific sheaths. It's just common sense. On the positive side, the lanyard actually helps to get a grip on the little knife. Maybe it's more psychological, but it feels good or rather more secure when your little finger can grip the cord. If I had a choice, I'd option for a longer handle or a four finger handle. Otherwise they're great knives for the niche they fill. Their Minimalist is the ONLY kneck knife I currently own. I might buy another with the black handle and drop point. That would have been my first choice if had been available.
Thank you very much for watching and the feedback. I keep the Minimalists in my rotation (except the Keramin) even though I have some other custom neck knives. They really are good.
The knives would have been more expensive if they had to make a sheath for every design and that's why they went with the design that would fit all of them. I didn't have a retention problem with mine and if I did, I would have used a heat gun or blow drier to tighten it up.
in case you didnt know, you can get those safety barrel connectors (like on the bowie) on ebay for quite low prices from hong kong retailers etc. so they are easily obtained if anyone wants to change that new safety out.
I have all of the Minimalist knives, except for the drop point. The Wharncliffe is small, bit has great utility. The Tanto, with the recurve section is great for slashing packages open. The Bowie is the one I carry since it does everything well. If you look, you will see the Bowie sheath is shaped for the Tanto knife. I think that is because the Tanto needs the most blade space (except for the Keramin) and the blades are secured at the choil. The old sheath might be more expensive to make, but I like that they could be snugged up as with Kydex. The Keramin has a very sharp point and I expect it would break with any hard usage. I have never carried mine. I think any utility usage the Keramin would have is done better by the Tanto. I use 550 cord with breakaway connectors with anything around my neck, such as a neck knife. My biggest worry is that my truck airbag would impale me with my neck knife in an accident and I try to remember to remove it in a motor vehicle.
I don't carry my Keramin either but I rotate the others. I've picked up a Wharncliffe and a Spew since this video, the Spew is a bigger and I don't really carry it. Thanks for the watching and the feedback.

Sounds like some good mods. Thank you for watching and the comment.
Your review was good, thorough and as a result I want to add one to my collection.
I'm very glad to hear that. It's a great addition to mine. Thank you for watching and commenting.
I like the black stone wash finish
Very good info in this video. I recently bought a CRKT Doug Ritter's RSK Mk5™ as a back up knife. Great little knife.....Take care, Bluefin.
+mustang774 I considered getting that Ritter MK5 for an Altoids tin kit but never got it. Thanks for the view and comment.
Ordered the new drop point and will have it this weekend. Thanks for the review sir!
I was thinking about ordering their latest version. Thanks for watching.

I have the minimalist Bowie I love that thing those other two look pretty damn good I might have to check out getting one of each of those
I recommend the bowie and drop point for edc. When I pull that Keramin out around people I think it's more threatening. Thanks brother.

Thanks for the info and those kinds of connectors are safer.
What do you search for by name, guys? Thanks.

If you like neck knives they're great choices. Thanks for watching.
have not seen this model yet, looks like a great choice, good review.
+Nature Inspired Snips n Snaps It's the newest one that was introduced earlier this year. I like it so far but the bowie is sweet too.
I have been looking at some of these, thanks for the insight!
Hope it was helpful. Thank you for watching and the comment.
I like that one!
I might actually be selling off some of my other ones. The sheaths for them just aren't selling.
I want the wharncliffe model next to add to the rotation. If you're looking to sell yours, perhaps we can make a deal. Thanks for the comment brother.
Yeah hit me up on fb and I'll make ya a good deal on it
