After watching these 2 videos, I am a lot more confident of installing my new top to my 1980 TR8. Thanks for posting the videos. It's thanks to people like you that we achieve our goals .Ken Notts UK 😊.
I found, after I have done 3 soft tops, if you put a couple of rattle can tops between the top of the screen surround, and the header rail, then glue the topdown as tight as you can, When it is all dry, take the rattle can tops out, it will leave a 2 inch gap, just right tp pull down to the latches and create a nice tight top.
Hey Elin, I have almost the same car, a TR8, and thanks to your excellent video I think I might try to install a new top. I have been looking around for the snap installation tool you're using at 10:04, but can't find it. If there is a manufacturer name or any identifying numbers on that tool, could you please tell us what they are so we can search for the tool online? Or if you happen to know any business that sells them, that would be great too. Thanks very much! PS love your videos.
That is a good question, Ralph! I will let you know if one day I find out :) I've been all over the place for the last 20 - 25 years. About 17 years in the jeans industry from operating stone washing machines, running sewing production lines, embroidery production, leading the account managing office and finally running the whole entire factory with all it's subcontracting satellites..... We were producing for some really fancy English, German and Italian brands. And then I moved to Canada and switched to making limousines :) Obviously I had experience with the sewing and this is where I started - in the seat making and wrapping parts in vinyl, installing vinyl tops... but soon I moved into AC, Heating, Electrical, Woodworking... Oh and actually cutting cars in half and stretching them LOL. I was interested in everything that was showing up and I learned fast. So.... I don't really know what my actual trade is LOL
Elin, any particular reason you didn't show new top with windows rolled up? Wanted to see where the overlap fabric ended up, and if is one of those pains-in-the-ass you have to futz with every time you roll the window up, or open and close the door. Been there, done that, no fun.
Yes, there was a privacy claim and I made it private temporarily. I will repost it soon, but if you email me to elin.yakov@rustybeauties.com from your gmail I can send you an invitation to watch my private video
I am really sorry to disappoint you, but I understand. I work on my own project, two shop projects and few customer's cars, so unfortunately I can't just start with one car and stay on it until I finish. I divided all the videos in separate playlists. So if you click on my name above this comment the home page of the channel will open and you can click on playlists. Then you can select the car that you like and you can watch all the videos from the beginning of the project till its current stage. Alternatively you can watch one of the Rusty Beauties updates and you can get a general idea of what is going on with each project. Below are two links for the last two updates, but if you search it up you can find the earlier ones as well. I believe there are 6 or 7 of them. I hope that helps and it turn your disappointment into an excitement. ua-cam.com/video/fz03s-v0r6I/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/elj0VifO2Ek/v-deo.html
@@RustyBeauties thank you, I will. Your work is fantastic and really enjoy them. I will save them as I think we will be on lock down here in uk the next week or two. Stay safe Elin. Thank you 👍 👍

Yes, can't wait for more of the Rusty Beauties. The hard top still in primer?
Yeah, it is still waiting patiently. Not sure when I can get back to it
Thanks so much for this video! I have three tops to do in the future! What glue are you using? Looked around and there are several to choose from..
I use Helmiprene NF4510 you can spray it or brush it on
@@RustyBeauties Thanks!

I am not sure why I didn't show that, but I know what you're talking about. I have that issue with my Spitfire. It wasn't an issue with the TR7 though
Yay! First one!
Hey Elin, hope all is good. What type of glue is that, I forget
Part 1 seems to have dissapeared? Can you repost?

I can't keep track. Different cars over time. Really getting disappointed 😴😴
