Prototype 2 was the first game I ever 100%'d. I really miss coming home from a day of chilling with my friends at collage, and ripping some blackwatch soldiers into pieces whilst banging out to my playlist.
Nice one mate! I know exactly what you mean there because I used to do the same thing, I never 100% the original release unfortunately so it felt great to come back and do it now
I literally have on more trophy left "Master Prototype" and I just finished it but I'm not getting my platinum. Must I do all the side missions and collectibles again?
Thanks for covering it, hope you enjoyed it as much as I have. A pity after a decade there would probably never be a Prototype 3, but hey, hopefully some producer makes it happen, so long as it retains the same core features and no micro-transactions.
I just recently got this platinum last month. It was a lot of fun. The gameplay felt smooth and improved upon, Heller had some funny dialogues here and there, and the platinum was much easier to obtain. Great job with this one, man.
Nice job mate! Any plans on doing the first if you haven’t already? Gameplay was definitely improved upon. There was a couple of times like with the targeting where it was a bit janky and wouldn’t actually switch to who I wanted it to switch to but apart from that it was great. Thank you as well man!

@@jordanvr1716 Yeah, the first game is definitely a grind. Out of all the attempts for platinum trophies that I've done, this definitely ranks as one of the hardest.
Honestly always enjoyed Prototype 2 over 1 mainly all the like small details in that game & how fights actually would leave an area actually looking like a Warzone. I think my favorite detail was just watching the infected in the green zone since if they aren't accosted by the military or you they have some awesome idle ai things like if they kill a civilian they will fight over that person's corpse & rip them apart & drag the parts away. The devs really enjoyed making this game & it's a shame it was their last game.
Activision fucked radical entertainment sideways and then killed their company, but that aside I really love both of these games and if by the grace of God they come back with a third sequel I hope to God radical entertainment is behind it without Activision breathing over their shoulders with a sniper.
A couple of years ago I got hold of a fully unlocked version of this game which allowed me to not only play through the game like everyone else but also to engage with all the RADNET content (for free) as well. A player's access to that was terminated when the servers were shut down. OMG what an awesome array of wonderful abilities available in that part of the game. The crazy and extremely entertaining shit you can do, on top of what you already could, is so much fun. Probably the worst thing to ever happen to this game was refusing players permanent access to the RADNET section.
This game and even the 1st were low key fantastic games. The 2nd one I found just pushed it even further. It really is a shame that we likely aren’t going to see a 3rd. Man if we did I’d take time off work to play it at launch!
This is one of the few games I've gotten Plat on several times. This one is probably the one I've Plat the most. I've been thinking about doing a "speed-run" of it, though I know I'm not gonna get any type of record bc I'll be on ng+ and easy mode 😅
Im reminded that it was indeed the only game I decided to play om the hardest difficulty I think it was Insane and it was easy when you found out that you can cheese most fights with The Hammerfist and the Whipfist. Still I played it on PC on Steam and for anyone wanting to play it, dont buy it from Steam if you come from Germany, because that cut version we got actually fucks up the game and you would have to skip the cutscenes to play it and pray it doesnt freeze when you go to another zone, there is a fix, but randomly it freezes and you dont see anything to then just go back to normal. But still. A blast from the past
I think i absolutely agree with the sentiment that PT2's gameplay is superior to PT, but the story is *significantly* downgraded - especially since fans like me spent the entire time during pre-release news complaining about it and how we hoped it would get fixed during development. Also feel annoyed that what feels like a big part of how you are supposed to grind out upgrades is locked behind online only functionality. Curious to see how you accomplish it, when I did it i basically had to purposely fail one mission over and over again because its the only one to guarantee spawns of certain enemies.
I agree with everything you said about Prototype 2 is great to look at and the powers and graphics and just everything technical in the game is a vast improvement but I feel like the writing changes were a little jarring, this feels a lot like Resident evil 5 and a little bit lke Sunset Overdrive like the intrgue and mystery is lacking, feels comic bookish, I kinda miss the secrets and government espionage, dont get me wrong Heller is hilarious, I love his character but I would've liked more mystery. Also did you think Alex Mercer ended up a little weak as a villain? Felt like he was all build up with nothing at the end.
You know what, that’s actually a pretty spot on comparison! Sunset Overdrive I absolutely adored. Exactly that mate, GENTEK were originally just a company that studied the virus with the plan of eventually being able to weaponise it. But all of this was done in secret, that’s why so few people in Prototype 1 actually knew what happened there. And in terms of blackwatch, they we’re just a private military organisation brought in to stop the virus by any means necessary. They did a lot of bad things and obviously planned on completely wiping out manhattan, but even then, that was only to stop the virus and save the rest of humanity. Both completely different in this game. Blackwatch release infected on civilians just to see what happens and even lock them up in cages and GENTEK actually take people off of the streets and then run their ‘tests’ on them. And yeah I do agree, considering he is supposed to be the strongest infected that there is and technically the host of the virus seeing as he began the outbreak, I expected his boss fight to be Elizebeth green levels of hard
I'm almost at the end of my second playthrough, but I am still missing two upgrades. They are in the Helicopter skill, which means I cannot get them from brawlers or juggernauts, only from Blackwatch soldiers. That skill was also blocked ("classified") until I reached the red zone in the story. I got one yesterday from a story mission guy, but resetting that mission did not work, he only had it one time. I spent 30 minutes flying round the red and green zone, but nothing popped up. I'm a bit desperate here, not going to do a third playthrough. Edit: I finally got them by replaying Blacknet missions that were inside a base. Platinum is waiting for me now :-).
