Hi Stuart, back in the sixties, when we had proper winters (even in the south) my BSA A7 was my only means of transport. Yes I had a pair of Goldtop winter gloves then, but on one occasion when I got to work it was that cold that I managed to knock it out of gear, coast to a halt and lean against the wall that I'd aimed for. It took several minutes with my frozen hands against the exhaust pipes etc before I had the strength to get off. Only grandads wore long johns in those days, us stupid boys were too fashion conscious to be seen dead in things like that, I did put my waterproof leggings on over my jeans though, not that it helped much. Like the videos, but don't remember the gloves looking like that then, regards, Morgan
Hi Merrilyn. i have had similar experiences myself, i remember my Dad having to come out and help me get off my bike once. i was so cold i simply couldn't move! Gloves like this were around, in fact i believe these are a reimagining of some that Goldtop made back in the day!
Great to see Goldtop still in business and making top-quality products. I have and still wear a pair of the original Trophy boots which were issued to me 30 years ago as a young-ish traffic cop. Love the channel Stuart and your honest reviews (not to mention the banter! 😁)
Hi Stuart - greetings from Down South! Winter gloves eh? Interesting! Of course we don't need them down here because we never get temperatures below 15 centigrade - lol
Excellent work as usual . You have such great choice of good quality products in England. Unfortunately here in Australia, I'm struggling to find some of those goodies. But we are blessed with the weather all year round 😉. Thanks for the great descriptions. Regards Greg.
Hey Stuart, cracking video again Sir and throwing down the gauntlet (sic) to those of us in slightly more southerly climes. I rode the T120 to work and back every day last week and it never got above 1 degree in Warwickshire. I have a pair of Weiss winter gloves in plain black leather & synthetic which are like my favourite slippers. Looking forward to Wed sir.
Hi Stuart, another brilliant video the snow reminds me of growing up in Vermont I moved to California for work big mistake , anyway if your ever in need of another leather jacket look at Aero of Scotland or Schott of Newyork great cafe style jackets. Thanks for another great video.
Thanks as always Stuart. I'll look for a pair when I'm over. I find waterproofing leather gloves with dubbin .et .al is good policy but don't expect them to stay dry in the wind blast for more than ten minutes! Besides it's not possible to effectively waterproof the seams. A good pair of overmitts is best.
Beautiful pair of gauntlet style winter gloves Stuart and a great review too. May I say I was fortunate enough to purchase an old pair of leather motorcycle gauntlets a couple of years ago and I bloody love 'em.... Best 15 quid I've ever spent at a boot fair and I hope they last me til I die cos I'll never find a pair like them (Although the Goldtops you're reviewing here have pricked my attention). I do love my short thinner 'Summer' gloves however only in the hotter sweaty days where you want protection and cool all at the same time lol..... A pair of Decent lined Gauntlets are an essential piece of kit from autumn thru to spring.
Thanks Mark, and i fully agree with your observations. The Goldtops didn't really float my boat when i first saw them, but once you get them on and realise the attention to detail that has gone in to them it gives you a different perspective!
Hi Stuart I think it was Wednesday when my hands were so cold on the way to work . And you know how cold it get down south ,so the vid on winter gloves a must !. My gloves are just getting old so I will have a look some goldtop ones. Looking forward to the t 100 . Regards Paul
lol, yes its been a nasty week weather wise! The merino lined ones may be a little warmer but i found these to be very similar performance wise to much more expensive winter gloves ive had in the past, Thanks for watching paul!
Luv your style. I still have a pair of Belstaff/Barbour waxed cotton over-mitts, I can't find them at present, that I used to use before I emigrated to Queensland. I used to live in various places West and North of Hawes and ride all year round using a sidecar in winter. I won't say what county as the 1972 redistribution left me so confused that I emigrated. Mitts, as opposed to gloves, make a huge difference in keeping the heat in, if you can cope with no fingers aspect. I think all the lead miners from the Yorkshire Dales must have emigrated out here in the1800's as you could take your script and substitute Queensland for Yorkshire and Canberra plus Sydney and Melbourne for London. You'd be right at home here Stuart.
Thank you Bernie, have to admit over mitts are something i have never tried, not sure why! the banter is of course just a little fun i don't intend any offence to anyone, but now you mention it i do seem to get a lot of comments from Yorkshire men who live in Australia! must be the weather that attracts them, not surprised the way it is here at the moment!
I really enjoy the banter. I'm technically a Lancastrian as the local nursing home was over the border and the local accent is or was more Lancashire than Yorkshire. We lived in Yorkshire traveled through Lancashire and went to school at Kirkby Lonsdale Westmorland, all in 6 miles. So I'm very confused. The oven-mitts were very light slipped inside a Barbour Jacket pocket and kept your leather gloves dry if it was raining. They didn't cost a lot and did the job. They were just part of my wet weather gear.
I went for some Merino wool gloves liners yesterday, so cold! 😬. My gloves are Tucano Urbano Aviator leather gloves with synthetic fur lining. I like the length of those Goldtop gloves though. The Goldtop Submariner jumper is being worn every ride now! 😊
Hi Stuart, just belatedly seen your vid on the Goldtop Windstopper gloves which appeal to me. You said you had heated grips on your bike but can you feel the heat much through these gloves? I also have hgs on my bike, a Street Scrambler. Thanks
Hi there, like any glove they do eventually let the cold through, so they work fine with the heated grips, it just takes a little longer for the heat to get through!
Hi Nuno its the old triumph Newchurch jacket, now discontinued, but, they do now sell a jacket with a different name that looks identical to me!, Thanks for watching!
Nice gloves and tempting but I have my Red Wings to wear out yet. I can't stand the modern gloves that make you feel as if you're holding a bag of spanners whilst fumbling around trying to feel where the indicator with is. :)
Did you get a larger size due to the added flesh inside gloves? I just got the cafe and racer ones in medium, I have pianist fingers aka girl hands. Lol Their a little tight but will loosing as I wear them, similar to other gloves I have had. Getting the boots from Goldtop next?
Hi Sonny I got that size because i have hands like shovels, but i wanted a little extra space just in case i needed to use a thermal liner with them, also with winter gloves you don't want them to be tight as it will compromise their insulating properties. thank you for watching!
Very nice! Adding silk liners helped me stay warmer longer, without getting too thick.
yes ill have to look out for a pair! had some many moons ago but i cant remember what happened to them! thanks for watching sir!

84 degrees and sunny here in Florida. Haven’t used my heated grips once since I’ve had her. Just rubbing it in :)
Oh! its not just the Californians then? Floridians do it too!
Californian here! And I used my heated grips for the first time last week!

LOL, Nice to hear from you Mr Trippler! what are you doing on You Tube? shouldn't you be outside sunbathing?

Waiting for your project video :)

Hi there, like any glove they do eventually let the cold through, so they work fine with the heated grips, it just takes a little longer for the heat to get through!
Gorgeous, but what really catch my attention was the jacket. Is it a Triumph?
Hi Nuno its the old triumph Newchurch jacket, now discontinued, but, they do now sell a jacket with a different name that looks identical to me!, Thanks for watching!
Any idea how much warmer the merino wool version might be? Good to see how the gloves look being worn, so thanks for that.
I have no idea I'm afraid Matt, they will undoubtedly be warmer but there are so many variables at play it would be impossible to give a percentage!
Nice gloves and tempting but I have my Red Wings to wear out yet. I can't stand the modern gloves that make you feel as if you're holding a bag of spanners whilst fumbling around trying to feel where the indicator with is. :)
Thank you for watching sir!
What are the summer gloves you show at the beginning?
They are the Goldtop short café racer gloves Scott!
