  • Kool Kim aka NYOIL of the UMC's responds to DJ Kenny Parker of BDP's discussion about "KRSOne vs UMC's Beef"
This is a beef that never happened. What it really is, is a grievances that was reconciled in an honorable and peaceful way.
I don't know why or for what reason other than just being unaware of the truth of the matter or having malcious intent, that Kenny would have told this story this way. But I will say I will make myself available to have a discussion about this with Kenny at anytime so we can compare notes and come to a positive space for reconciliation.
With that being said. If he or anyone has something to say about me and my crew... stand on business and be willing to engage that face to face or at the least voice to voice. If you can't stand on that business that keep my name out your mouth.
    Kool Kim said that.
DJ Kenny Parker of Boogie Down Productions details a little known conflict between rapper KRS-One and the rap duo The U.M.C.'S

I call it click bait because in the stream and his original video his issue isn't with the UMC'S. His issue is he didn't like the article I wrote because he loves his brother.

But you could've reached out and contacted KRS before publishing your article blaming him for ruining hip hop, I'm sure out of ALL the classic beefs in hip hop, that KRS PM Dawn beatdown is the least referenced after '92/'93. Maybe an article about how KRS seemed to fall off tremendously, in comparison to his level of popularity in Rap music before that PM Dawn incident, and how beating the brother on stage brought him some karma in the form of a fading career as a contender in the game. Respectfully coming from a fan who had Fruits Of Nature and a UMCs poster up in my room as a kid all the way in houston tx. Simultaneously, defend it with a tone that lends itself to a very open discussion for resolution. KRS One did nothing wrong and didn't owe anyone an apology... Peace, Kim ~ Respect from a huge BDP fan (not the cringy, cult-like bs you alluded to). You come across decent and credible, and along with Kenny and a ton of music lovers everywhere, I’m a fan of UMCs material. One example of where I have an issue w what you’re saying is when you describe KP’s video as “clickbait”. I’m a faithful viewer of Kenny’s channel and he makes it clear, consistently, that he’s not interested in creating beef-related vids in an attempt to attract more viewers. His channel is a quality over quantity mindset; he’d rather have fewer viewers who appreciate Hiphop culture and history over more viewers who visit based on hype, beef or hysteria. This is a basic, vital element of what Kenny’s all about. That said, I hope you two can soon say cheers and drop this because we all have more important things to focus on, music and otherwise. Peace, love, light ✨💞

      Not the UMC's.
Kris didn't have beef with us. We didn't have beef with him.
KP is using what happened in 92, to justify the assumption that my article was driven by a vendetta.
Now, in those days, MAD PEOPLE criticized Kris for going at PM Dawn like that. Did they have a vendetta too?
And also I have video proof of being around Krs on multiple occasions as NYOIL before and after the events kp points out. I had a youth mentoring program and would bring my youth to certain events.
I was deep in that pro black circle. Do you have any idea HOW MUCH UNSAVORY STUFF I know about them?? If I were on it like that I could outright RUIN them. And I would literally bring his accusers out not just some story I d be telling.

    • @koolkimmc
      @koolkimmc  7 місяців тому

King, if you see in his video, I shared my email at the time with him so we could clear the air. He radiant and just wrote a rebutted article
Now 16 yrs later he's trying to sell a book and using me and my group as click bait (like anyone even care) and even then I reached out on IG and on UA-cam for him to reach out so we can clear the air. He deleted my comment.
I dont really see what else I should be doing. I'm not begging this man to clear the air.
And I think this response was extremely well tempered. I could have taken this on a far darker tangent . And that's just that.

I’ve never really known KRS fans to be cringy… With that being said, as much as I hated the title of the ‘06 article, it was really well put together, and created enough to put the reader front and center (or rear stage left, as you stated)… Nobody really likes a bully, but I guess through Kris’s eyes PM Dawn might have said some things… As much as I roll with KRS (without being cringy, I hope) I see both sides of this, and impartial is probably better than judgemental…

I was ON THE STAGE. It was T-Money's Bday Party at the SoundFactory. D-Nice (Formerly of BDP) along with UMCs were MCing (Masters of Ceremony as opposed to eMCee'ing)
We were managed by 40th Street Black Management owned by Tony Rahsaan and DNICE!
This was EASILY verifiable if Kenny spoke to Derrick.
But like most of his stories he doesn't vett, fact check or verify with any sources . He just sits and rambles and you accept it.
