  • I love 50cals. You love machineguns. Everyone loves 50cal machineguns. While I have some time shooting machineguns in Baghdad; you can never have ENOUGH time behind the ole "Ma Deuce." So, when we were asking if we wanted to review a modern "Replacement" for the M2 Heavy Machinegun, we of course jumped at the chance. We loaded up the TR truck and headed out to Arizona to link up with the team from Daycraft Systems. They had a bunch of really innovative projects from lightweight machineguns, to miniguns, and yes, a 50 caliber chain-gun!!!
Now, Chad wasn't allowed to say the phrase "chain gun" for copy right reasons; but I can call it it anything I want, and this puppy is Badass!!! What makes it awesome? You can still swap barrels just as fast as an M2. It takes all the same ammo as the M2. However, because it is a chain-gun, they have cut the recoil down to just 700 pounds!!! Electric chain driven guns and easily change speeds. Add those two factors together, low-recoil & rate of fire, and you can now mount this puppy on a small drone (they've done it)!!! Talk about a lethal little-bird?!!!
The Daycraft chain-driven heavy machinegun can be used with any current M2 heavy machinegun mounting systems currently being used by the military, to include to include vehicle, maritime, and aircraft mounts. No, the ATF is not gonna let you have one. However, for our military viewers out there, internationally and here at home; if you are looking at modernizing your heavy machinegun fleet, you need to check this bad ass puppy out!!! I WISH I had one of these back in Iraq. It is AWESOME.
For the rest of us "Civilians" without access to our own heavy machineguns; well, I hope you enjoy the video as much as I enjoyed filming it. Hopefully, some day soon, the NFA will be dropped, and I'll be right there in line to get my hands on a couple of these!!!
Special thanks to my patrons on Patreon for buying the ammo for this video; and to GunSpot for supporting our channel. They are the newest website improving the 2nd Amendment listing and auction space, connecting buyers and sellers in a way they will both love!

I am a former USMC machine gunner 0331 and currently a technician in the oilfield that works on mechanical and electrical equipment in many different challenging environments. Without even digging into the weeds I foresee many problems with this weapon system. It definitely cannot completely replace the current machine guns for the military. The biggest problem that sticks out like a sore thumb, it needs electrical power to operate.

Buuuut it requires a power source…. I’ll stick to the M2A1.

Seems like a lot of failure points

Nothing can replace perfect Karl. If US Marines haven't been able to break the M2 in 90 years, there is nothing wrong with the 'ole girl.

Sweet! Wonder if we can get the Ukrainians to give us back some munitions so we can shoot it ?

Loved my Ma Deuce which helped me stay alive during my firefight on the Al Shahaddah Bridge in Mosul 2004

In 2149 the M2 will still be in use. We’ll see it in the first Martian war, between the separatists and the colonial loyalists.

Seems like an overengineered and probably overpriced solution to a problem that marginally exists

  • @drgonzo305

Seems like a lot of unnecessary complications and not a whole lot of benefit

"I like big guns" well yeah, chances are so do we, that's why we're all here. Enough said. LOL

This makes more sense used as automated defense weapon, rather than vehicle mounted. Unless the gun itself is damaged, the Ma Deuce will run. This thing is usless if power is cut. It has a place, but Mama is gonna be chilling with Master Chief.

Next to artillery the .50cal is the king of battle!! An M2 in full operation is one of the sexiest, most intimidating sound!!

Amazed at the new technology improvements and believe we have to keep improving. That said, memories in the Army of the Ma Duece in the late 80s and 90s so would be sad to see it replaced.

My only question is whether Randy has approved this weapon yet?

For years I was a scout gunner, I see some very innovative ideas. The biggest problem I see is the power to run the gun. Just like the tow missile there are always going to be power concerns. Portable batteries are always a liability and crew serve power supplies are the same way especially in a combat environment. I am sure they know these things am I love the versatility of caliber options. I hope the best for them, joes need solid freedom dispensers.

Reminds me of the m242 bushmaster chain drive auto cannon we have on the m2 bradley, just scaled down. I dont see the electrical drive being a prob as long as this is kept vechicle mounted.

I think the need for an outside power source will exclude this from a lot of applications. regardless of reliability in the parts and electrical connections.
