    Art tour of many of the cards that I've painted for the Warcraft TCG and Hearthstone between 2006-1019. I also have my Burning Crusade, Wrath and Diablo 3 videos already up on UA-cam if you're interested in watching those. It took me a couple of weeks to put together all of the source material for this video, but I wanted to cram in a whole lot of info, but still keep it short. I've also included a few stories of what it was like to work at Blizzard during that time and how the game was originally conceived, and developed from my perspective.

    I recently began playing hearthstone and it’s been really cool recognizing some of the cards because I’ve watched you draw them

    I always forget the importance of the thumbnail version of a drawing. I heard this sometime ago, but I got reminded by your video again! Thank you so much! Having art on tiny cards really makes you think about the contrast, values and areas of interest. Seeing how you tackle the colors and values on those cards inspired me. My favorites are Second-Rate Bruiser, Crushing Walls and Twisted Worgen. They are super readable in thumbnail size, plus the Twisted Worgen is a very epic drawing :P

    Hey Trent ! I would like to have a question about portfolio styles...Next year Im going to graduate in my art university so I should put together a final concept artist portfolio that year (Im from Europe)... My first idea was to make a Blizzard like stylized one,cuz Am having lot of fun designing stylized fantasy props,characters and stuff...but as I noticed in the american and european market most of the game studios are doing photorealistic games... So what would be your advice to a 20 years old junior concept artist with zero industry experience ? I dont want to end up in a situation when the companies gonna reject me just because my portfolio is too stylized,even if Im able to make photobashed or realistic renders...
    I know you not doing the comment corners anymore,but lets hope you will notice this... If you see this thank you for your time and patience and keep on with the videos !

    • @TrentKaniuga
      @TrentKaniuga  5 років тому +7

      I made a video about this topic already called "is style hurting your portfolio". My advice is to do the thing you love the most. Don't. chase after photorealism if you hate doing it.

    Can you please tell me an idea or how can I find the Blizzard Art Guide? Thank you!

    • @TrentKaniuga
      @TrentKaniuga  5 років тому +1

      Every project at Blizzard has their own art bible. They also do not like to make them public, so you won't find them anywhere online. The best thing that I can suggest is to study the concept artists who work on the project that you are looking at.

    for those of us wanting to get into freelance, how many times is reasonable to go back and forth with an art director with WIP/direction feedback etc? how much is too much contact?

    • @TrentKaniuga
      @TrentKaniuga  5 років тому +3

      It depends on how you structure your contract and how much you want to work with them. I always decide on the number of iterations during the contract negotiation.
