This make a lot of sense for any beginner DJ to take this, simply because any editing you do on Rekordbox DJ will transfer to CDJ's. I can see Rekordbox DJ taking over. And quickly too

Why do anyone wants to have a different design or something? I mean this design works for over 4 years now! It's very functional and in my opinion works even better than Denon or Numark! Never Change a working System!!!
But a stand-alone device would be more expensive! The XDJ-R1 for example is more expensive than the ddj sx2 although the sx2 has a 4-channel mixer and more hot cue-buttons, sampler and so on!
We don't need the cd drives on that unit. There is still the added cost of a laptop like a macbook and keeping it updated/maintained every couple of years. Phone (cpu/ram/LCD) hardware doesn't cost much extra these days and this functionality will put them in the lead again for the next 5 years.

+Tobias Eilers if you like pioneer dj products and soft , best in my opinion will be DDJ RX. DDJ RZ is HUGE! 1 meter and 10kilos - its not about being mobile ))) XDJ RX absolutely no need to buy. DDJ-RR is OK as alternative to DDJ RX if you have strictly limited budget , but 700 euro and 1000 euro is not so big difference to be greedy and not take a fully functional controller. thats what i think. anyway , good luck with your choice :)

Even if I have the XDJ-RX I would connect a Laptop with Rekordbox via Link to have access to the library (good for mobile gigs), so this advantage of the XDJ-RX doesn't count for me. Good point with the DDJ-RX though. Might be a good compromise. It is also portable, but looks more professional. However, feature-wise almost the same as the DDJ-RR, despite some differences as the Soundcolor FX and 4 channels on the RX, which I don't urgently need. Hm, still not sure...

Ich würde mir aber wirklich nach wie vor sehr sehr gerne einen Art XDJ RZ von euch wünschen so das er nicht mehr auf Laptop angewiesen ist. Das wäre das absolute Gerät und ihr hättet mit Sicherheit gigantische Absätze mit dem Teil als Option gegenüber dem NXS Set.
+Johhny Trip compatible as in they come with a stock mapping for traktor? cuz if that's what you mean than no, they not compatible. but I'm sire if you took the time to make your own mapping it would work. honestly tho, the way traktor is set up these days its not meant for these types of controllers. traktor appears to in better use with a modular setup or something of the sort to make use of its features.

SR = Serato Remix RR = Rekordbox Remix machine is the same, just different softwares and logos, but with VDJ you can use both without incompatibilities. the updated SR is the SR2.
All nice and dandy but really nothing special. Let's face it. We are tired of just another updated controllers. We are all waiting for STANDALONE units now with same functionality as above. Until then. most of us are NOT interested. 2016 and Still waiting. Just add screens. Micro PC inside with dedicated software and stop pretending we still need laptops for this.

rekordbox will eventually become industry standard i guess, they should do some audio interfaces to go with rekordbox for those who use timecode for turntables, like the rane serato ones

im super disapointed with ddj sr sound problems for half a second some time through the night its like i dropped 535 euros into the bin..when zou buy something from companies like pioneer apple etc. you expect the best of all...otherwise there are other dj firms that they do anything to buy from them better things with the same money :( and now i gotta sell this thing to buy new rr :(
