Corneal reflex can be assessed by touching a sterile cotton tipped applicator to the eye expecting a blink response. The corneal reflex should be present, unless you are extremely deep close to that OD range.
Here in the UK my healthy dog died under anaesthetic, he wasn’t hooked to an ECG . He was a ShiTzu only 8yrs old who went in to have a lump removed under his eyelid. He was full of life that morning and while he was under anaesthetic the vet who had just one nurse helping her spent time trying to get me at home by phone to discuss this lump, she rang twice then rang another vet practise for a second opinion.? My lovely little boy was there all this time with a nurse supposedly monitoring them and suffered a cardiac arrest and died. We have been so devastated since this happened 6 weeks ago.

I believe the Cardell monitor can be put into demo mode by holding down the power button for 7-10 seconds.
