@@wherethetreegrows i live in Latvia and we have like 30% Russians, so some of us either choose to watch movies in English or with Russian dubs, my family knows more Russian than English so they keep watching some bootleg Shrek or Diehard etc. But it's always the same guy dubbing them, and i always find it funny how he pronounces the English credits with a thick old Russian accent...

All the American films I saw were dubbed like that, always by a single dude with a deep voice. If you were lucky, maybe you’d get a woman dubbing the children/women.

You know, aside from the fact that they were both voiced by the same guy and the weird gong noises, this is not that bad of a dubbing.
They translated the original dialogue quite well.
The gong is meant to replace a popular electronic bass drum sound effect overlayed over the english scene which is partly responsible for the scene's circulation through meme culture.

@@polanski2399 it is Taiwanese accent (I’m Taiwanese btw), but Jesse having a mild foreign accent (especially that came from Europe or North America people who just learned how to speak Chinese)

@@johnphilips9308 Well you see communist China made this simplified version of Chinese characters so people can learn to read easier. Originally Taiwan was to adopt the same thing too but didn't because the ruling Kuomintang was enemies with the CCP, which happened to preserve the (according to the majority of ethnic Chinese) better looking characters while literacy is still in the high 90s.
History and politics aside though, since it's the Chinese we use in Taiwan, it just feels homey as a Taiwanese. Just disregard whatever that @quartzking3997 guy was trying to pull; CCP literally pay people or even use prisoners to do propaganda, and there are even Chinese government paperworks to prove it.

Movies used to be dubbed by a single guy who was speaking in a monotonous voice throughout the whole movie.
They didn't used to be dubbed that way, they still are. Obviously not *all* of them. But you hear it a lot on TV

这视频让我想起2000初，你知道那时候互联网不够发达，中国大陆接触很多西方电影的途径是看盗版DVD。给电影加上国语配音音轨是很多盗版DVD打赢其它盗版的优势，因为购买者可以多一个选择比如合家欢电影可以和长辈一起看。但是官方配音的电影屈指可数只有央视引进或者进口商引进才会做，所以所以，后来发展成盗版电影商自己组织了一些草台班子，三两个人配音一整部电影。出来的效果很多词不达意莫名其妙，相对而言其实这个视频已经算不错。。。

As someone who is learning Chinese, this is so satisfying! It's an easy dialogue and I was able to understand almost every word. The ones I didn't understand I got by remembering the original version of the show. Also it's cool to see the traditional characters in action, since we exclusively do our studying through the simplified ones. Nice video, 谢谢你！

edit: yeah but this isnt chinese tho it's a dialectic of chinese known as mandarin and Mandarin is part of the Chinese family of languages, which in turn is part of the Sino-Tibetan language group. All Chinese languages are tonal, which means that the way words are pronounced varies their meanings. Mandarin has four tones. Other Chinese languages have up to ten distinct tones which these youtube comments has explained them well for me and I have learnt a good language lesson in the cultures and language differences between chinese and mandarin.
The Taiwanese accent is strong with this one.

@@biodegradabletrash Yeah, Christine is fine. She just has a very very strong gift of prophecy from the Holy Spirit such that she receives visions on a regular basis. She’s not the only one. My friend London also has a pretty strong prophetic gifting from the Lord too. I used to be a lot better at prophecy, but I admit I am out of practice and haven’t been spending enough time with Jesus to properly maintain it.
