I remember Rev Fr Jayakody when I was a 14-year-old schoolboy at St Peters College, Bambalapitiya especially his silver hair combed back - a tall, majestic man - Sinhalese poet, musician, composer, Drama, writer. He built bridges between the Buddhist Sanga, Muslims & the Catholic Ahiracy. In the 1960s the Rector of the College & the Arch-Bishop did not view this favourably. Fr. Jayakody occupied the small auditorium above the Rector's office (close to the Grotto). His most famous work was 'Gam Peraliya'. It is very sad that the College did not embrace this literary giant into the daily life of the College. He introduced Catholic services in Sinhalese. Joe Paiva

Exactly after 2 years to you said.I remembered the lovely of this father's life and I regret to didn't get the shelter of him at his time, unfortunately. This character is unforgettable and cannot match anybody of his capable life as a musician in Sri Lanka. He started all that from church actually from religion. His ability is unparallel still present. He served to Sinhalese and he wasn't a person from the catholic church and his career was mostly to the temple at that time and also many testimonies were there. His songs came from rural life with admiring their habitat. Actually and real Sri Lankan.
කහවන් ගොයමට ගීතය හරියට ඇහුවොත් අදටත් ඇඬෙනවා. ඒතරම් සුන්දරව හා ගාම්භීරව මින්නේරිය වැව හා එයින් අවුරුදු දහස් ගණනක් රටට සිදුවූ හා අදටත් සිදුවන සේවයත් ඇගයෙනවා.
ප්‍රවේශයක් දීලත් මහාචාර්යතුමා සාහිත්‍යය පැත්තෙන් ඒ ගැන කිව්වෙ නෑ.
අපේ ගුවන් විදුලිය කෙළඹ කනත්තේ සිට ගෙනා මෙතුමාගෙ අවමඟුල් විස්තරය මගදී නවතා දමා 5 ට දරුවන්ගෙ වැඩසටහන පටන්ගත්තා. එහෙම තමයි රටක්වටින මනුෂ්‍යයකුට එදා සැළකුවේ.

පිය තුමා ගැන මතකය අඵත් කිරීම ගැන ප්‍රනාමය. අතීතයේ සිටි අය නිර්මානය කල ගීත ඒ අයුරින්ම නවකයින්ට ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමට නොහැකි කම ගැන කණගාටුයි. උදාහරණයක් හැටියට ( සුදු සද ඒළියේ ) ඉන්ද්‍රාණී සේනාරත්න මහත්මිය විසින් ගායනා කල ගීතයේ ටෙම්පෝ ඒක හරි නැහැ නේද?
