I was there!!! Fun fact, the lightning strike at the beginning was so loud it scared the entire audience. (and Simone 😅) It sounded like something blew up backstage lol
I was at both nights of The Symphonic Synergy and the bang at the beginning was SO loud, it made me jump both days. 😂 These were such epic shows though!!
This is fantastic buddy. I get you when you say that you can't stop listening. What a blend of very much classic end some metal edges. The whole package works great!
Epica probably added the Ghost In Me title but the song they sing is the already existing song Danse Macabre. Epica did not write this song. Epica just altered the song. Epica did a collaboration with the second most visited themepark in Europe called Efteling. for the opening of their new dark ride also called Danse Macabre. The dark ride Danse Macabre is a run down haunted monastery. It was invented by people in Efteling with a total new ride mechanism so this dark ride you will not see in other themeparks in the world. Danse Macabre was an already existing song which Epica altered a bit. Danse Macabre is a danse with the dead. That is also what the dark ride called Danse Macabre is in Efteling. It is a danse with epic music, a ride with spinning church benches and a visual display of creepy things you would see in a run dow monastery. The waiting line leads you through a cemetery with music and moving parts. Efteling is one of the oldest and themeparks in the world. It has a huge fairytale forest which you can get lost in for hours, some of the best dark rides in the world and rollercoasters. It is filled with fairies, goblins, fairytales and even the ATM and garbage cans are themed. The garbage cans are depicted as funny men who suck up garbage. Kids see this as a game so kids try to find as much garbage as they can to put in the garbage sucking trashs can so the park is always clean. They have the man / puppet with the longest neck in the world called "Long Neck" and also a big statue donkey that poops golden Efteling coins. Kids also see this as game to catch those golden Efteling coins. At the opening of dark ride Danse Macabre the waiting line was 4 hours to get in this dark ride. People from other countries came for the opening of this dark ride and it was all over the news on tv Americans and English peope who visited Efteling have called Efteling the dark version of Disney because Efteling doesnt sugarcoat the original fairytales by the brothers Grimm like Disney does. Efteling is built in a nature reserve and is not owned by a big corporation like Disney. It is owned by a foundation that is why prices of entree, food and hotel are lower than Disney. Is Efteling only for kids !? No, it is a family themepark it has something for everyone playgrounds for children, some of the best dark rides in the world, rollercoasters and dualing rollercoasters. Efteling was built before Disney parks even existed and the dark ride Danse Macabre, Epica sang the song in front of, is one of the most expensive haunted houses (monastery) in the world. It cost 35 million euros to built it. When you ask someone from the Netherlands what should I visit besides Amsterdam most would say go to Efteling. Since Efteling is one of the oldest themeparks in the world, as said it was built before Disney parks even existed, a lot of themeparks that were built later took inspiration from Efteling. One example is the first ever Madhouse that was built in the world. Later on other themeparks copied that idea of Madhouses making them even better. A madhouse is where the room spins around you so you think you sit on the walls or the ceiling. There are lots of videos in English of people from England and the US on UA-cam who vlogged about their visit to Efteling.
EPICA crafted their own unique interpretation of this song, adding significant contributions to its creation. While the original melody already existed, they delivered a distinct version that truly stands out. This mirrors their previous collaboration for Attack on Titan Season 1, where the original composer, Revo-whose music was heavily inspired by EPICA-personally invited the band to reinterpret his work with their own lyrical and musical direction.
While I appreciate the historical context around Efteling and its attractions, it's important to clarify EPICA’s substantial creative input here, which shouldn’t be diminished. Yes, Danse Macabre existed as a theme, but EPICA didn’t just “alter” the song-they crafted a unique interpretation, infusing it with their distinct style, including lyrical depth and musical direction that reflect their own artistic vision. This wasn’t a simple reworking; it was an authentic reinterpretation that brought a fresh, intense energy to the theme, honoring and amplifying the spirit of the attraction. EPICA’s involvement goes beyond just a “bit” of alteration. Just as they’ve done in prior collaborations (such as with Attack on Titan), they’ve created something uniquely their own, combining original elements with their powerful signature sound. Dismissing their work as minor alterations undermines the skill, thought, and creativity they bring to these projects. It's true that Efteling is an extraordinary place, with its own rich legacy and contributions to theme park history. But EPICA’s creative partnership with them should be recognized and celebrated for what it truly is: a meaningful, original artistic collaboration that both enriches the attraction and stands as an impressive piece of music in its own right.
@@UnHyl8urselfThe title of this video only said The Ghost In Me while it is Danse Macabre that is why added the explanation of Efteling. Epica did alter the song Danse Macabre. You call it reinterpretation that is fine too.
@@2012inca in the original it's not a song at all, by the way. There are no lyrics in this piece of music and nothing to sing. Epica used the main tune and a recognizable melody, but that's only 5-10% of their song, you write as if they did almost nothing, but that's not true, a lot of work was done on the adaptation of the piece of music and modern arrangements and lyrics. it's more than just a "cover".

They don't have a symphony, they have an orchestra!!!
