Great video. Thanks. One questions we have a debate in our dojo of wether the punch counts if the back foot is on the air. Does it make sense? I wonder if you can settle out bet.
That's a great question. If all 6 scoreia criteria are met, the point should score. Provided the punch is a proper Karate technique, you can definately score with the back leg raised. This is quite common when striking with the back hand, as players throw more weight onto the front foot to increase the distance of the punch, or even step through while punching. A great example would be Rafeal Aghayev, who throws a great stepping punch with his back hand from the southpaw stance. Hope that helps!
very informative. I think you mentioned kick to the side and back of thr body can get 2 points. is kick to the front of the body can get wazari as well? example for attacks like Yoko geri.
this is the first time I've heard of the "ippon advantage". When was this established? I remember winning a match back in about 2016 by decision. We were both tied 6 points I had more scored techniques (2 wazari 2 yuko) while he had two ippon. Also I would have scored 1 more point in last 3 seconds but he stepped out and got a jogai right when I scored which I think they took into consideration. Going by the ippon advantage rule he should have still won so I'm thinking this is a recent rule. But then again 2016 was a long time ago considering how much they've changed the rules in such a short time
if 2 judges give yuko and 1 judge give wazari for same compitetor which is awarded by referee if 1 yuko , 1 wazari 1 ippon like this critical situation what will be awarded. pls answer both, Highest only or highest flag count. pls comment
Hi, they actually changed the rule on this in 2023. If there is one yuko and one wazari or ippon flag, the referee will award the higher value (use to be the lower value). However, if there is two flags for yuko and one for wazari, they will award the yuko as that is the majority. I've never seen one yuko, one wazaro and one ippon, that would be quite some combo! But I beleive the ippon would score in that situation.
Hi @rysien 7087, That's a great question. There has been a change in this since the new 2023 rules. If there is one flag for yuko (one point) and three for ippon (three points), the higher point will score (in this case the ippon). If there is two flags for yuko, and one for ippon, the yuko has the majority so that will score. So if there is one flag for each yuko and ippon, you have to hope another judge doesn't signal for yuko aswell!
Yeap, Yoko Geri can score 2 points, it's a favourite technique of our club! Mae Geri is also a scoring technique, but it's not very common in WKF anymore.
Thank you for your explanation.

Thanks. That really helps. Do you have a similar video explaining the role of the corner judges?
@@fabiorodriguez4207 not yet, we'll have to start working on one!

Thank you, and yes! Yoko geri and spinning ushiro geri to the body are a couple of our favorite techniques to score!
when did the rules come in force and what style does it come from Wado Ryu or Shotokan ?

Yeap, this is a new rule thay was introduced in competition from 2023. I beleive it was to reduce the amount of fights that went to referee desicion.
Is the 10 count rule still in effect?

@@toatakaikarate Thank you... I think if Yuko and ippon get one flag each,it declared ippon as per a new rule
can I get points by using mae geri or yoko geri ?
