Great idea!
A tip for cutting the shelf so it doesn't chip.....along where you are going to cut, put painter's tape.

Very nice, a next step up might be a false cover that bends away when in use and make the shelf have a clean look.

This is such a interesting idea to save space and have a sewing table. But does it support the weight of the sewing table while using it?

I use my sewing machine about once a week on this set up and I have had no issues. If you have a older heavier machine, you should always add a support leg that attaches only when in used, but for me this works and I have no problems. Thanks for watching!

Hi, I have a cabinet Ikea too. I am looking for the separations in case like yours. But Ikea told me they haven't got. Do you have the reference of yours please ?

Hi! If you are talking about the divider right next to the sewing machine, it's this part here - www.ikea.com/ca/en/p/kallax-insert-with-1-shelf-white-20423720/
KALLAX Insert with 1 shelf, white, 13x13 " (33x33 cm).
If it is the slider for the sewing machine, I bought that at my local hardware store and custom fit it.

@@katherinelearnsstuff yes it's the divider, thank you very much. But I know why Ikea didn't have it. Because I live in France and probably Ikea in France hasn't go the same products than others countries. When I phone them they answer to me they don't have it.

Girl uhh chipboard is already weak asf so cutting it across the length and using both to make the shelf?... uhh... so... how's it holding up?
