  • Prime Minister Justin holds a news conference in Caraquet, NB, to highlight the federal government’s plan to create a national school food program. He is joined by Jenna Sudds (families minister), Serge Cormier (MP for Acadie-Bathurst), as well as Chantal Boucher (director, École Marguerite-Bourgeoys) and Wanita McGraw (president Fondation des petits déjeuners de la Péninsule acadienne). The Liberal government pledged $1 billion in the recent federal budget for the creation of a school food program.
Responding to questions from reporters, the prime minister discusses his government’s proposed capital gains inclusion rate hike. Trudeau also faces questions on domestic concerns surrounding the Israel-Hamas war, and on policy differences he has with the provincial government led by Progressive Conservative Premier Blaine Higgs.
