Just ordered my first Vostok. Can't wait! But a note on the "loose" crown. From what I've researched, that is actually part of the design. It is to partially disconnect the crown from the internals. To reduce damage if the crown is struck.
Just so yall know the loose crown was done on purpose, it is a genius design detail that results in the actual watch being able to take a good hit. The main area of fault in tactical watches is the actual stem of the movement becoming bent from impact resulting in the watch being essentially useless, the loose crown in all Vostok watches leaves space between the crown and the stem (when screwed in they are actually separated and only connect when unscrewed to set the time or to wind it) resulting in the risk of stem bending becoming very low, almost impossible actually.
Hope you enjoyed this unboxing! I've been absolutely loving this Komandirskie since I got it. What strap do you think I should get for it? Let me know!
@@islandterror5198 Totally agree. I have it on a black/grey bond nato right now, but waiting on a black/red/green vintage bond to arrive. I'll live on there, basically forever, I imagine. Thanks for checking out the vid!
I think the Vostok appeal is the story of the brand, which is super intriguing and really interesting. That's a major part of the brand statement. I think it's the only brand where the simplicity, the Brutalist design esthetic and the ruggedness is a positive! its part of the charm. As they say: Once you Vostok, you cant stop!
P.S. the loose crown was purposefully designed that way: in order to make it flexible to protect from damage. Most people dont know that. Its part of the design language of the brand: another example of this is the Amphibia version: the watch is dome shaped, because it was a cheap and effective way of ensuring water and depth resistance without using American patents. (The request of the Soviet government was for Vostok engineers to create a diving watch, without having to ''beg'' the Americans for help). The Amphibia becomes more water resistant, the deeper you go! because the pressure pushes down on the face which tightens the watch).
Very good the unboxing of the Komanddirkie! One from a different dial is coming, but it is the same clock. I already have an Amphibia and it's great! I'm going to put on a NATO strap and I bought a German-made glass bottom especially for Amphibia models, it even comes written in Russian on the steel ring! And I just bought a Vostok T, Braille touch for visually impaired people, a rarity! I love Vostock watches, lots of history and good quality at an incredible price!
I don’t mind setting the date on mine. I mean, I bought it to play with it so it’s not tedious or anything to me 😜 I’ve adjusted mine so it runs -2 seconds a day. Such an awesome watch to own.
Nice..! If you hold the watch "crown towards the floor" gravity will assist you in winding it! That's a strap monster!..... Zulu, Nato, suede! The date isn't a issue just wait a day after the date on the watch to "start" it, also the no date Vostoks are great.
@@ChronometerCheck thnx for Vostok review .I 💘 them ! They are battle tested durable eye candy. a great conversation piece unique and great value in our digital age we live in.
Anthony, there are a couple Komondirskie Classic models with same specs as the Amphibia much better value with the 200m. wr.. Looking for a Amphibia next month myself... lol 😁
Also picked up an Amphibia recently and holy cow, I much prefer it over the Komandirskie. I'll have a video of it up, soon. :) Not sure this is considered the 'Classic' but I've been eyeing the Komandirskie GMT (Ref. 650539) to complete my trifecta. Let me know what you decide to go with! I'm always curious about other's collections. I'm a very nosey collector :)
Ninja Foods - I won't be buying any of your products due to the prolonged advertisement I was forced to watch before seeing this short review. I will be buying an airfryer at Christmas - you're out of the running.
Looks super on the wrist. Almost a dress watch - great value too.

And I still haven't received it! Lol. It does appear to be in the US, though.
Update. The post office kindly sent it back after not notifying that it was in! Have to order again...
Oof, I feel your pain bro

Managed to squeeze a 20mm leather Zulu strap on mine. The green dial and crazy horse leather Rock!!!!

Crown wobble is by design it's a safety feature
Yup! More shock absorbent, which helps protect the movement. The wobbly-ness doesn't bother me, people definitely overexaggerate how bad it is.

This watch now going for a total cost of $81 today! Quite an appreciation but it’s worth it and people are willing to pay for it
long live the komandirskie
Vostok watches are not toys. They were designed and built for the Russian military and the watch that went into space.

It is a chrome-plated brass and not stainless steel.
All Vostok 200 m, stainless steel. Amfibiya or Komandirskie 👍👊🇷🇺
I got one of these from my grandfather but it’s not in great condition. The face has a different color to it, almost like it’s faded to a yellow…
Look cool, but they should remove the day wheel, I don't like date wheel on any automatic watches
thanks men nice wacht
Awesome!!
Thanks very much!
yoo im getting one of these in a few weeks just asking about how long they last?
How do you mean? They should last forever, they're pretty resilient. The movement might need a service every now and again (~4-10ish years, roughly).
@@ChronometerCheck thanks what about illumination?
@@Jezz16A1 Go look then up on eBay. You'll see then from decades ago still working just fine illuminating just fine.
Just ordered should arrive few weeks time what size of watch strap as will be ordering a better brown leather strap. Cheers.
I buy the RU Marines Watch, pay 30 €, its OK i love the Watch. Its a little bit heavy to set the Date.
It's bulky watches ( both Orient & Vostok )
Really? I Don't find the Komandriskie bulky at all.
There is a quick set
Dial looks like Heineken bottle 🤔
