Linda Tillery's 1977 "Freedom Time" was good, but probably borrowed a little from Quincy Jones "If I Lose This Heaven" from 1974 - If I Ever Lose This Heaven - Quincy Jones ft. Minnie Riperton, Leon Ware, & Al Jerrau Imitation being a form of flattery ... When you have vocals by Minnie Riperton, Leon Ware and Al Jarreau ... that will always be amazing music. But to be thorough, I should add that in 1973 The not so average "Average White Band" did the original - Average White Band ~ If I Ever Lose This Heaven (1975) All that said, Linda Tillery's "Freedom Time" is very good and is in my music collection. *
+Joe Sokoto AWB released that track in 1975 (www.discogs.com/Average-White-Band-If-I-Ever-Lose-This-Heaven/release/2028293) and Quincy Jones version was released earlier in 1974 (www.discogs.com/Quincy-Jones-If-I-Ever-Lose-This-Heaven-Along-Came-Betty/master/477991) so you seem a bit confused plus it sounds nothing like this track at all.
Nothing borrowed my dear. This is from my own creative stash. Unless you mean to imply that every note ever sung or played is a copy of something played/sung before. In that case, Ripperton, Ware and all 80's R&B stylists are merely a shadow of a previous stylist.
Linda and Mary are among the most gifted, and generous, women i've had the pleasure of knowing in the Bay Area over the past 40 years.
i think i just heard the best piece of real music in my life truly raw and utter genius 👍
It takes 30 years to hear this song again, I love it. It brings back much memories of my youth here in The Netherlands.

Linda Tillery right on sister. They're only 12 tones in western music, hard not to repeat✊🏿Are you still in the business, any contact info?
