All comments saying its a downgrade. Yes it is, but can we just appreciate the fact z5500 is a 17yr old subwoofer ? Oh and also its 10 inch while jbl one is 12 inch. So in conclusion, the z5500 showed and impressive performance for its size and age 😱

The original subwoofer JBL is the right application of the amp module, suitable of the impedance of 4ohms load while the logetic z5500 is not suitable for the amp module coz the impedance is the difference.. 3.+ohms jbl 12inch vs 10inch w/ the impedance of 8ohms not the exact impedance... far different application..
Swap the original JBL subwoofer for the Sundown x-12 d2
amplifier power is not enough for sundown, port too small, and volume is small, but the idea is good
that woul tear up the box easily

logically, the JBL speaker is better because of the bigger magnet and better cooling, but please don't destroy that Logitech speaker, it's really in good condition and still works
Change the sub with a JBL 1224 s3 and reassemble it.
try using tools from steve meade designs, for short its SMD. you can just run a wire through the tool and instantly see what omage, voltage wattage and amperage is running through the cord. also you built an 8 ohm sub into a chassis and amp combo that is used to 3? why didnt you use a 3 ohm woofer like a jl audio 27 or so?
what about adding a JL Audio w7? 12 inch. vs jbl 12 inch?

Jbl has a long pedigree with loudspeakers. Logitech is doo doo as far as speakers go. They are a good budget speaker, but not on the same tier as JBL.

@@SpeakerMaster942 why laugh? jbl and harman have been around for decades and proven they can build top quality stuff. jbl biggest problem is evolving to appeal to nitwits to sell to the masses vs sticking to their roots. i had a set of L220s and a room full of logitech couldnt compete. and ive owned the top of the line logitechs
you should know that z-5500 speakers were made by tang-band. Very popular brand on DIY Scene. Somehow i believe tang-band from 2005 eats todays JBL for breakfast in terms of literally everything . Now,JBL in 2005 was something different,atm its just a market brand,same as logitech

Probably 85% for a long period of time. But in my tests, when playing 40hz Frequencies tone in 1 6 subwoofer coin already started to smell like burn - so it depends very much on the sounds that you are playing. The JBL speakers, in general, are very well made. Cheers

Replacing a 3 ohm sub with an 8 ohm sub you found in the garbage will net you about 66% less power and void your warranty. Lol
You should match the subwoofer's impedance load with the one of the amplifier. If the amplifier is 4ohms the subwoofer must be the same or else the power of the amp will drop. You would know that already if you were a caraudio enthusiast
We already know that, but we do these tests with the speakers that we have. Today or tomorrow, I will post JBL Partybox 1000 with a sundown sub that is in 2 Ohm. Cheers
you cant upgrade by replacing its driver. if you want to upgrade, you need to upgrade the power supply, power transistors, ic and capacitors to give enough power to drive higher wattage of speakers.. better to buy new set of power amplifier and new sub speakers and mid/high to achieve massive real 1000w of sound system. if you could hear my 1,000w power amp with 1pc 18" subwoofer, you cannot here the bass of pb1000
You may mix that all with 1 cabinet
The jbl subwoofer is better cause the power rated is high then the z5500 sub and the jbl is outdoor speaker so make sense more

Bad idea. Car subs might be very gentle with low volume boxes but their efficiency is made for car audio and not for open field. If u want a loud sub u need to cut bandwidth or increase cone area. But a small sub that has a lot of bandwidth and can play loud just tell me if u know one (in car audio)

while I agree with you, thx is basically a tuning/harmonic distortion guide for manufactures. Its basically like how the Harmon Kardon eq curve is pretty much the blueprint for pretty much every speaker that comes out of jbl all the way up to thier ultra high end studio monitors.
The THX certification on "computer" speaker systems is THX Multimedia, so the Z-5500 didn't actually have very high standards to meet.
