I was 17 years old and over at Bizkit during this set but now at 40 years old I damn sure wish I’d been watching this. I knew absolutely nothing about the GD at this time tho.
This was a chill little jam sesh. Limp Bizkit at woodstock 99 was a once in an eternity experience. You made the right choice lol, you're just much older now
What a great video. Cant get much better. This is a group of very talented musicians. Mickey Hart is really great. This is what the world needs. People of all races and ages coming together and having a good time. Thank you Mickey and Planet Drum.
redneck44056 Yes. Your description is what should have been the vibe. Rap, heat, too much commercialism, heavy metalheads like Limp Biscuit, Korn, and Rage Against the Machine ruined the mood and stole peace.
Its not the music..although I dont think Limp Biscuit helped any, but rather the super expensive and restrictiveness by the promoters. Add in the lack of facilities like water and bathrooms and it was a recipe for disaster. Think of the many metal fests that happen that simply do not go down like Woodstock did.
@@scottstrand1874 limp bizkit was arguably the craziest live music performance ever. I totally get it if hard music isn't your thing but you can't deny it takes something special to make somewhere around 300,000 people go absolutely apeshit to your music

This is kind of a class for non percussionists and that’s most of us. To the casual music fan it’s not unlike watching Cuban music for the first time: piano, vocals, and 15 guys beating on something or another. This demonstrates there is nothing accidental going on. 4 musicians complimenting each other on different drums. Nothing there is just for show. Lots of accents. Hart gets kudos for arrangements: he respects the vocals, keys and guitar and supports them. This effort was not about percussion alone. Takes some control of ego to get that. It shows in the confidence of the entire band. This is dance music.

that woodstock had to be a fucking blast! Forget the negativity spun by the media and the overpriced waters. That lineup is just insane. And fuck it yes i would've went to see insane clown posse pour soda all over themselves after mickey hart, why not hahahaha
I agree I think the 1994 and 99 Woodstock’s were underrated. I remember-watching these Woodstock’s on closed circuit TV pay per view the entire weekend and it was awesome
@@chinafeedfakecomments3737 yeah it was commercialized to an extent but it was pretty good still. 1969 Woodstock stands on its own because of the psychedelic counterculture and the era. But the 1990’s Woodstock ( I think 1994 was better) being held in that location in upstate NY I thought was pretty intense on its own. It
This performance happened at the same time as the Limp Bizkit show at the other stage. Literally looks like 5% of the entire festival chose this show lol
Yes, you're right, that day the majority... And this 90 percent chose Limp Bizkit. More than 250,000 people came to see the LP show, at that time they were the favorites of the festival! Mickey Hart & Planet Drum played an amazing set, but the wrong audience was at the festival in 99, although according to preliminary data, more than 10,000 people attended their show at the end of the set... After all, the next set was The Chemical Brothers.
If Mickey and Planet Drum, Jewel, Dave Matthews Band, James Brown, Tragically Hip, Counting Crows, Brian Seltzer, Willie Nelson, Alanis, Rusted Root, Creed, Sheryl Crow, and Elvis Costello had been allowed to play longer and kept rap and metal out, maybe this would have been a success.
@@Adamastor-fn6wr Google search did not turn up anything more about Glynnis. I just caught her name being announced in the video. Sorry can't help further.
Mickey Hart made the Grateful Dead when he joined in the summer of love, and ruined them when he came back (except for a brief creative spell in 75) Bill Kreutzmann was subsequently never allowed to flourish the way he did 72-74. Nothing personal on Mickey, but ultimately he’s just a hot headed banger. John Lennon had more groove.

Wow, it's just like the Grateful Dead minus Garcia, Weir, Lesh, and Kreutzmann!
I see Molo, Mark Karen, Mackey (obviously). Who else played in this incarnation? Awesome btw!
Look at that crowd. Mark is great.
Could someone please list member names here. It would do us both a favour :-)
They blame Fred Durst for starting the woodstock riots but clearly it was this unhinged pulsating groove that did it

Good times but just the beginning they ruined the song with a commercial break in the middle of a song. It's hard to abide.
Weirdest Fire On The Mountain I’ve ever heard. It’s like if the B-52’s covered it.
I wonder if it will sound like what I'm imagining in about a half hour (+the commercials).

That is no planet drum as the title indicates

Damn John Mayer was just as good 20 years ago!!!
That's Mark Karan on guitar, from Ratdog.
