- Here is what Michael told me about himself: "My name is Michael Harrigan and I’m a knitwear accessory designer based in Bangkok, Thailand. I enjoy traveling the world for inspiration for my designs. My main areas of interest are lace knitting and stranded colorwork. Over the past decade I have designed lace patterns for accessories, such as scarves and cowls, shawls, other types of wraps, and hats. Many have been self-published or have been produced for major yarn companies, and others have featured in online and print magazines.
I have been certified by The Knitting Guild Association as a Master Knitter, Knitting Technical Editor, and Knitting Judge."

Thank you for the introduction to Michael. I enjoyed listening about his knitting history and perspectives.
Glad you enjoyed it! Michael is such an interesting and knowledgeable man
This was such a fun and interesting episode. Thank you for introducing me to Michael and his designs. I had heard of the Master Knitter program, but I had no idea it was so intense. I was blown away when he said there were only like two knit shops in all of Bangkok.
I guess it sort of makes sense because it's in the tropics. But, yes, i expected more
Lovely conversation ❤
Awesome Interview 💜💜
Awesome!!! I'm already hooked to your podcasts. I love all of Michael's designs and want to knit one right away. Power to him for all his accomplishments! Due to Covid I was stuck on a tiny island in Thailand for 9 months without yarn. I managed to order some cotton via Lazada which was better than nothing. I usually knit but given the choice of yarn I did lots of crocheting mainly hats and flowers.
that must've been so frustrating. But you are right, better than nothing.
Very interesting and talented guest, really enjoyed, thank you. What a dream to test for such beautiful work.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I use Yarn Pond for testing my patterns. I’m working on republishing a rare, out of print modular knitting book from 1952. I’ve been working with the book for years and tend to gloss over the details because I’m so familiar with the method, but my test knitters are able to look at the patterns and writing with fresh eyes and give me truly amazing feedback!
I often find that to be true, not knowing the pattern intimately helps testers to spot mistakes or unclear spots.
I was so excited to see this interview! I would love to test knit this for you!!! It’s stunning! I must admit, I spend almost as much time looking at your photos as I do your knitting! I’m blown away!
I love Michael's designs and the inspirations behind them
Thanks so much! I'll post for testers on Knitters Gonna Knit - hopefully soon!
Amazing 😘💕
The one person who gave a thumbs down, give explanation why, as courtesy to the presenters.
I am really curious to meet that person, not because I think the whole world must love me, but the consistency of dislikes just really spikes my curiosity :)
What an interesting person Michael is. Irina, would you do a master knitter certification?
I am very tempted, I think I have the right personality for it. I love learning and I don;t take critique personally The only thing that makes me hesitate is the amount of writing, it's just not my forte and with English being my second language it's extra challenging.
I totally get it. English is not my mother tongue either. I just have to say Go for it. ❤️
I so love how he said only doing it in when you’re in the mood for it ❤️🧶
