This sounds like when you play two UA-cam songs at the same time, in different tabs, at just the right spot so that it sounds like the band members are trying to play while balls high.
People saying you can't dance to it, you don't have to dance to the rhythm. You can dance along with the melody. Especially if you listen to it a lot and are very familiar with it.
As an enlightened individual with an IQ of 167, the drudgery of simple 4/4 and 6/8 time signatures doesn't stimulate my mind. Polyrhythmic Synth Jazz is the only genre I have found that actually provides nourishment to a brain like mine, starved by the vacuous din of modern pop music.
yeah, i was looking for more interesting genres and while i'm too ignorant to properly research something before looking for samples of it, it still felt like "polyrhtmic synth jazz" was an actual genre. but hey, i like math rock, i'm fine with this.
Most songs have three, four, or sometimes two or six beats in a measure. Others, like this song, for reasons known but to God, don't. 9/8 is known as Compound Triple Time, and if you can dance to it, you can win your town's local magic competiton.
This is one of the prettiest pieces I’ve ever listened to. It would be awesome if you took the effort to upload it to spotify or other streaming platforms. Thank you so much
The polyrhythms engage your brain because they're unpredictable and constantly changing. It keeps you listening for changes, as opposed to a 4/4 song with lots of predictable tropes Your brain is constantly trying to keep up and it's like a mind-game Check out djent if you're into metal at all :D
the weird thing is that most math rock bands are unpredictable in rhythmics yet are very repetitive in both timbre and just general sound, which makes math rock one of the best genres for background activity music imho.
step one: don't be a human step two: possibly be a robot step three: program yourself to get a new movement everytime the rhytm changes but never sometimes else(another idea would be to pick a specific very long time signature and do a movement only each time the end of said time signature overlaps with the music) step four: ??? step five: nothing, cause nobody's gonna like it, but at least you'll be proud of it, hopefully.
Dont try and count it in 4/4 and just listen to stuff like this... awhile lot. Lke I'm pretty bad with my time signatures and couldn't tell you what this is off the top of my head (although I will admit I'm a music student so it's still something I've been exposed to for a while) but swaying or nodding along to this feels pretty natural now
Option 1) Listen for musical pulses and dance to that. Like a musical sentence that's being repeated, rather than a beat. Option 2) Dance in 4/4 or 2/2 with occasional "half" beats. You're never more than a half beat off... if you find you're wrong just stick another one in there (or the music itself will soon enough).

Chon is amazing and changed my life growing up when I was in 6th grade I lived in Cali and me and my parents got into a fight so I left to clear my head ended up stumbling into a open door bar that they where doing a free show at loved this type of prog ever since
Great, now I’ve completed my list of songs that have my favorite months in the title! Wake Me Up When September End (Green Day) October (Evanescence) Stuck In November (this band haha) December (Neck Deep)

which is pretty uch what polythmics is about.
well yes, but its technically just a math equation (not a hard one, after all this is just musicians math)
I like how right after then use the Bob's Burgers line, the song comes back with even more jazzy polyrythms, as if accepting Gene's callenge
Me too, I love it!
Me too, I love it!

I saw a screenshot of this cringe-worthy comment and that's what brought me here... I'm still not sure if I'm pissed or happy about it...
I came here just to see this comment but I fell in love with the song.
Not jazz though. This is math rock
yeah, i was looking for more interesting genres and while i'm too ignorant to properly research something before looking for samples of it, it still felt like "polyrhtmic synth jazz" was an actual genre.

More like Meth Rock xD
and what is math rock if not a more melodic type of jazz fusion?
What is jazz then
Mateus Marinho I always thought of it as a more rhythmic version of prog rock
This is actually really beautiful

That's the magic of math rock.

O.k the rhythmic intrigue is highlighted, but let's not overlook the harmonic beauty here either
“Nobody can dance to that”- gene 0:56
To dance to this
You have to change the dance technique according to the speed of song.
It's also easier when you know the song by heart! ^^
Gives off chon vibes. I dig it
Kinda sounds like jank. Love it!
Anyone else come here from a soundcloud math rock playlist?
this actually isn't too bad once you latch on to a single line of beat
