    It's really important to point out that when you select the knob you want to assign, that you crank it up to its highest setting before you release "tap" on the El Capistan. It's the critical step that is not in this video. (Went through 3 expression pedals before I figured this out)

      EXACTLY! Set it for the highest setting that you wish to achieve at the toe-down position. I bought another expression pedal thinking something was wrong with the first - good thing I was in need of another expression pedal! Hindsight tells me that it pays to read the owner's manual thoroughly...

      And to remember that, I watched that video, missing exactly that information. Also very important, what Kevin said about the toe-down-position. Thanks, guys!

      Thanks that's a pretty key bit of information.

      @@ngc-ho1xd Not sure if it still works that way. But probably. My comment was 8 years ago for the previous version of the pedal. :)

    Do you have to perform this ritual every time you power-up? Or does it stay set between uses?

    Hi, I have 2 questions, 1, at what point do you disconnect the power in the process? And 2, I have a Hotone ampero press foot pedal, is it, and all other expression pedals compatible? I am not wanting to purchase more expression pedals.

    Can I assign the Volume knob on my Deco V1 to an expression pedal?

    Is this still accurate? I bought a brand new Strymon El Capistan last year and I've never quite gotten my expression pedal working. I bought a $40 M-Audio expression pedal.

      @@stevenbatke2475 I finally got it working for me a few weeks ago. Really helps at church when I'm short on musicians. I use it to add light delay and reverb on my acoustic for the slower songs. Expression pedal helps me fine tune it, soaked a bit for slow songs, off for fast songs.

    Hi - I bought this pedal second hand and would like to restore everything to factory default. Is there a startup sequence to do this?

    • @strymon
      @strymon 8 років тому +1

      +intrsoul On the El Capistan, there is no factory reset, but you can manually set the secondary functions of the pedal back to factory settings. Please check out page 6 of the El Capistan manual for the factory settings of the secondary parameters on the pedal: www.strymon.net/manuals/ElCapistan_UserManual.pdf

    hi strymon, can i still use the tap tempo if i assigned the exp pedal to the time knob?

  • @billcarson4749

    hi strymon, if i assign my expression pedal to time knob on a brigadier, does it modulate my tap tempo too or the preset value on time knob only? thank you

    • @strymon
      @strymon 5 років тому

      When set in this manner, it is controlling the TIME knob only which overrides the TAP TEMPO once it is adjusted.

    Hi Strymon,
    I can't get it to work with my Dunlop Mini X pedal at all. So frustrating! I followed all the instructions several times.

    • @strymon
      @strymon 8 років тому

      +Jake Jaffe Sorry to hear that you are having trouble. Are you making sure to use a STEREO TRS cable from the AUX output of the Mini X to the EXP input of the El Capistan after following the steps in the video above? I also read that there is an internal switch that determines whether this output would work as a Tuner output or an Expression output. Lastly, there is also an internal pot to adjust the minimum value for the expression control. Please check this out and if you continue to have trouble, please send us an email at support@strymon.net.

    Question for Strymon: Can you Assign & simultaneously-Control, More then One Knob setting at the same time? Example: Increase ( both ) the amount of Repeats and also Increase the Mix Level in the Toe down position? Will it work with the Source Audio Reflex Expression Pedal? ( seems to be the best expression pedal )

    • @strymon

      You can control more than one parameter via expression pedal in any direction on TimeLine, BigSky, Mobius, RIverside, and Sunset. For all of our other pedals, you can only control 1 parameter at a time from 0% to whatever you set as your maximum setting.

      @@strymon thats, to be honest, a stupid decision. why is that? It is possible. Old Pedals like DL-4 or digitech time bender can do this. Here I got the feeling to get a cut off because of not buying the top of the line pedal from your company. But 300+ for a delay are also top of the line pedals. So Sad

    I've tried this dozens of times, and it still won't work with my Moog EP-3. All I get is sometimes the light flashes periodically between the left and right stomp (and signal will only pass when the left stomp is lit up - which stays like this even after I remove the EP-3) while other times, the right stomp LED will flicker and make annoying clicks with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Are the secondary functions assignable to the expression pedal, like the reverb?

    • @strymon
      @strymon 6 років тому +1

      You can only control the primary controls with an expression pedal. The secondary parameters are not available for external control.
