To all those kids who are clearing their 10th / 12th....this video is a gem. I can only wish that some one would have talked with me about all this in such a structured manner when i was completing school or while i was in college.

Iam not finding happiness in my job. My mood swings are very drastic. During day time I decide to prepare for upsc, In the night I just decide to proceed with whatever job am doing, this is out of fear that what if I don't clear upsc.
Upsc is my long term goal ma'am. But now my fear is not even allowing me to put 1% effort in upsc preparation. I want to overcome this.?

Harsh fact .. what you want to do and what u actually do ..totally different.. in India we don't have the luxury to choose what we like but instead we end up doing what's available opportunity

Excellent video. This certainly ties into the Japanese Ikigai concept.

Charan Sparsh Ayushi mam, I am very pleased to get these beautiful insights from you. I was very terribly confused , like a mother you have guided very well. Thank you mam for such beautiful insights.

    Some really nice points Ayushi.
It can be a bit too complex to convey what's in my mind but I will try writing it here.
I agree as a 16th year old it can be a bit too difficult to find out "what you are good at ? and what makes you happy?" as many students have not explored, so with half information, there can be a perception that "I am good at this" and "this makes me happy" but as you move along you can start struggling. On the other hand, with too much information you can get confused at that stage. I would add that having a mentor can really help here, they can be anyone parents, elder brother sister etc. but again having a mentor is a luxury many don't have.
The points you have touched upon will surely help in expanding one's dimensions of decision making. Practically, Its just like how you and I have selected our careers (family perception, influence of society and the available information at that time are the top key things that will shape the future of anyone). If someone asks for advice or even check online he/she will find for example, being a Doctor has scope, for some Engineering, for some Civil services is a thing. A 16 year old will really have a hard time selecting a career like this as every field has scope now a days, its just, you have to excel and love what you have got yourself into, like you have also done.
Also keeping in mind that the current education system in India is a one way door, irreversible decision (hopefully new education policy will change this). Most of the students still follow the same path as you and I did :), I don't know if I loved Engineering or It was just everyone in my family is an Engineer so I naturally got more inclined to it.
The 3 points discussed (Internships , networking and up-skill), falls in line when you have already selected a domain (Graduation) and that certainly narrow down choices you have there. A grad student have much more knowledge and data points to make a wise decision. Also, after graduation its never a one way door, you can always explore and switch careers at early stages.
Would love to discuss and share more but this went really lengthy. :)

I agree with you what you have written. But, in the broader scheme of things, this is what I have learnt:
While choosing a career is a big decision, no career choice is right or wrong.
In today's world, with rapid changes happening across all fields, we have to keep exploring and keep pivoting our careers and our lives according to the dynamic trends.
Eventually, it comes down to keeping an open mind while choosing a path but being flexible enough to discover more about other fields (by networking, internships and upskilling), and having the courage to move to new paths, irrespective of how old you are or which stage you are at.
If you keep exploring, you will get exciting opportunities and might even discover your 'calling' (or passion, whatever you may call it).
