Ok how your ssn works! the first three is your area code, dependent on the office that issued your card, some states just have one number, some zipcodes have multiple. The middle two numbers count up (skipping every other number) or each group of cards issued by an office. the way they count is a little more complicated but basically it goes 1-99 odd and then 2-98 even. the last four simply count up in the order they are issued. aspects of this have changed in the last decade to add more random aspects to make it harder to guess an individuals card. before that if you went and got issued a number as an adult (you arent issued one automatically when born) you could know the exact number of the person before and after you by just adding or subtracting one. Most people get numbers when they are born and in the state they are born, so depending on the state you can guess the first three numbers accurately.
this is also why the social security administration doesnt recomend using it as identification and really dislikes that it is used as that for banks and whatnot, as it was meant to be simply a reference number and for most of its history did not want to be load bearing for all of this
