I've been given the wrong ID by a kid before and him insisting that "no, this one is the GOOD one, I PROMISE" was one of the funniest interactions I've ever had kicking someone out of my store.
I've done it. Kept my expired license on me for a couple of months before finally getting rid of it

I used to work Auto at Walmart, so we rarely got anyone purchasing alcohol but I would usually ID the clearly 30+ people anyway because it'd visually make them happy lol

I love the "If you are so good at it smart guy, why don't you do it?" *does it immediately*. I remember back in highschool a teacher had a video queued up to show and when she hit play it gave the typical error YT used to do if you left a video paused too long. As a teenager that watched YT like TV, I was super familiar with that error. The teacher thought it wasn't working and i was like, Nah just refresh it. She was like, but it says it is temporarily unavailable. I was like, yeah it just does that from inactivity, but you can just refresh to fix. She replied with the standard, "Why don't you fix it." So i got to walk over, hit refresh, and sit back down doing my best to not be smug abt it.

Apricot Brandy is pretty common I can find it in all the liquor stores in my area and half the grocery stores. Sloe Gin is a little trickier I know one of the local liquor stores stocks it, I do not know about the other one. Granted they do not have very many varieties of either, and they tend to be cheap examples.
Gotta know your customer base. Always tricky whether or not to stock it for one or two sales a week, but more then that should be worth it.

I was born in very late 93. I worked at a slaughter house when I was 22 and I was always covered in blood and shit from the neck down every day. I remember walking into a speedway at like 9 at night fresh blood over up and down my shirt, and bought some beer and the dude didn’t say shit. Idk if it was out of fear because of all the psychos they probably see everyday and god forbid one snaps, or just genuinely not being paid enough to ask but that was some funny shit. I took a gamble on getting the cops called that night for some relaxation after work. 🤣

I was waiting in line at my local, and a kid in front of me got carded, denied, and stormed off. I was next up, and joked that it had been over a decade since I got ID'd anywhere. The girl behind the counter giggled a little, rung me up, and then asked for my ID to make my old ass feel better. Was just a joke, but honestly one of the nicest things anyone's done for me in a long time.
Am older Gen Z and fortunately grew up so don’t need fakes. Surprisingly only get ID’d like 50% of the time. A beard does wonders
I think it's because we're super close to the edge of the divide. Young enough to know how to use the current card system, old enough to know how to not need a fake ID buying booze.

I get severe anxiety when the clerks do not ask for my ID, cause it's the rule that they have to, but I don't want to be rude and ask why they did not ask for it, and I feel horrible burning pain in my chest from being enveigled into partnership in a crime. Cause like I know they know I know they know I am old enough, but rules are rules?

Also not sure where you live, but it's not a rule that cashiers HAVE to ask for ID, it's at their discretion if you look under 25
@@abotaccount6094 I only follow rules that make sense to me. And an age limit on alcohol is one such rule, therefore I also support taking apporpriate action to enforce this rule. I also cannot cross where a crosswalk is even if no cars are coming, but the crossing light is red, which does not make sense to me. However rules such as not buying illegal drugs or not giving money to beggers, or that sort of thing I spurn utterly.

As a Gen Xer, Sierra Nevada is still one of my go-to beers. I literally bought a 4 pack of craft IPA and a half rack of Sierra Nevada and joked to my local clerk that they are now the 'inexpensive' beer. It really is just about as much for Bud now.

As a Gen Xer...I can assure you my question to liquor store guy is "do you have any allocated whisky in" 🤣. Other than that I'm quite normal and will still buy other stuff...and not question the dates on the IPA :) And I use Apple Pay.

I'm an early Gen z and I've lived in a country where the drinking age is 18+, but nobody will throw a fit if you drink at 15 (it's kind of abnormal if you don't have a small taste of wine when you're like 5). I've never had a problem buying liquor and when I moved to the US I was already 21 and I was shocked every time I went to liquor stores and supermarkets and saw 25 year olds buying their shit alcohol that were panicking every time...
Depressing though that I'm 22 and my coworkers told me I look 28 because I barely get carded.

Insert my card. Doesn’t work. Cashier isn’t paying attention, too busy thinking about how cool they are or how much they hate their job. Pull my card out of card reader after screen shows error. Cashier starts paying attention and thinks I did something wrong. Cashier mumbles incoherent directions. Cashier takes my card, does tap to pay, and treats me like a boomer even though I’m not from that generation. Yeah the younger generations really great.

@@rich546 the old people you speak of were the greatest generation and silent generation, the baby boomers are a whole ass phenomenon compared to any other generation. It’s not about y’all being old, it’s the fact y’all truly did get worse with age (some studies believe this to be caused by the lead exposure many baby boomers had as kids which deteriorates the brain over time)
I’ve had years of personal experience with this so called “greatest generation” ( a term coined by Walter Cronkite). Most were drunks with PTSD from WW2 that treated us with contempt because because we didn’t suffer through the Great Depression etc. I’ve also had experience with the younger generation as a teacher of 17 - 18 year old boys in a skills setting and I wouldn’t trust any of them to babysit my hamster. It’s a good thing the boomer didn’t pay in cash because none in that kids generation could calculate the correct amount of change to give back. And just how well do you think that this generation when they get older will be faring after all the vaccines pumped into their bodies start taking effect?
